Total Biscuit Im sure the only reason Day[9] aint casting is cause he couldn't. Someone talked about him not being fun and too high level. I am a day9 fanboy obviously, but i don't see anyone really disliking him? He is definately one of the best casters out there together with artosis/tasteless. Tier 2 is Dj Wheat and... i dno some others maybe Husky.

Then again, you don't watch a tournament only because of the casters, surely it's gonna be a nice tournament The more the merrier!

For me Day9 has better and worse moments. He was good during MLG but to me not so great during IEM.
Also I stoped watching his daily as soon as got my copy of the game (I only watched it to get my daily fix) so I am not such a fanboy as many seem to be.

I would just like to thank Alex.IGN for the FAQ, even if half of the trolls in this thread didn't read it.
Thank you also to TB for putting up with the fanboyism in this thread, you're definitely right, day9 does not appeal to everyone and is only one human being (as far as we know :D)

Cheers

Your personal opinion of him isn't really relevant. I'm not glad to see him as a caster because I'm a fanboy, I'm glad to see him as a caster because he has got BOTH sides of the job covered.

1. A great casting voice, thinks well on his feet, is entertaining and insightful.
2. Extensive knowledge of the game.

Other than the casting Archon over in SK, I can't think of a single other person that covers both of these criteria.

LGPainUser. I would love for you to get a different commentator, maybe bunny from WC3.
I don't know if she is really following SC2, but she is probably the best woman commentator out there, I think she can succeed for SC2 as she did for WC3.

As far as IPL 2 I think only the top 3 from IPL 1 should be seeded to R32, while the guys from 4th to 6th position seeded to R64. All the rest should be through qualification.

Bunny is a good War3 caster, but only a War3 caster, I'm afraid. She casted some BW games at Blizzcon and was completely out of her element. If she's not following SC2 very closely then don't include her, and I'm saying that as a fan of hers =)

Yes I agree, I'm just saying if she is following SC2 I'm sure she can be a great caster.

If she is not following SC2 then its obvious she would be pretty bad not knowing much about the games. haha

your personal opinion doesn't matter as well. So I'd just leave the talk bad about day9, @ defend day9 be.

Like him or hate him, arguing about it won't change anyone opinion. Personally I like his gameplay analysis, but he is not fun for me and that reflects negatively.

You're right, my personal opinion doesn't matter either, I wasn't just saying his didn't matter and then offering mine. With the exception of "entertaining", those points aren't my personal opinions on Sean, they're his general traits and I get the sense from his success that there is general consensus on these points.

I agree his is good at both those points, but as I said, he has better days and worse days.

Anyways that still does not change the fact that he is not casting IPL season 1 so I am not sure how you can be glad to see him as a caster (unless you were talking in general which I am not sure why because none ever said that they do not want him to be a caster).

Sweet! Only thing I'm not sure I like or not is the fact that TB will be casting, I like his voice and all, and he's funny every now and then, but his knowledge of SC2 is from what I have seen quite vague. Imo we should all give him a shot at it before we diss him though, I mean, if he turns out bad he prolly won't be in the second season.

Anyway, awesome tournament, will be watching for sure!

hey alex. what if, in the future, you could have two different casts of the game? although it would cost more, potentially it could satisfy everyone, and if you're not doing live casts, it can work logistically. just sayin'

I love the caster choices. Will make for fun, exciting matches.

I'll be casting Season 2, but I don't know who else will be there. Will be fun to find out!

It wouldn't satisfy everyone -- no matter who they got, even if they had two different casts, there'd be people complaining about it for some reason. Neither cast is good, or the caster combos aren't good, or their favorite caster still isn't involved, or they don't like any of the casters' voices... There'll always be something that people who want to complain will focus on and whine about. Pleasing your viewers is important and all, but there's a limit to what's possible and practical.

I wouldn't worry too much about trying to make everyone happy with the caster choices. The people they have are fine. What's more important is running a good tournament and having quality games. I trust IGN to be organized and competent; the player pool for this first season is a bit limited, but still has a lot of good names, and if they can offer a bigger prize pool next season they should attract a lot more big names. That's why I'm glad they're leaving it mostly up to qualifiers starting next season.
Artosis: "You need to hold my hand." Tasteless: "I'm very good at that."

I like the way this is done, provides ample time to solve any solutions that arise, and give casters a view of the game before they need to cast it, they can look at the replay and analyse it deeply to understand perfectly why people are winning, and being able to provide the most entertainment by tracking battles with time queues.

IGN seems to be doing this very well, even if it is the bane of NA esports, an invite tournament.

Only really gonna be watching the games that DJ Wheat and painuser cast, not a big fan of TB or HD unfortunately.
