Actually, if you look at the players still remaining in Code A from last time and combine them with this group then you'll see that it evens out pretty nicely.

I think you are seriously misjudging pro players or even people in general. And even someone would have mentality like that one who are so sure of winning code A must have skill level at least adequate to make semis regulary in code S and that would pay off sooner or later not to mention code S gets ''ok'' money for simply being in there even if they fuck up in first rounds.

gah that means no foreigners in Code A next season? I'm sad....

You are the one looking at it much simpler than it is.. "simply being outplayed.. strategy, macro" lol there's some games where he is constantly ahead of food count and has higher tech units and gets rolled by someone with mass colossi/stalker...
i didn't say that the zerg needs to be "slightly better economically" out-macro means what it means, in EVERY aspect. he has more drones AND more fighting units but still gets crushed.
That's what I'm trying to point out. How do you know when Zerg is actually ahead, because I think we can agree that Zerg "needs" a bigger econ in general against Protoss and Terran.
You just said yourself that Idra is sometimes ahead by food and/or tech, but gets rolled by colossi/stalker (deathball, or quality units). This should be the way it is, right? Except Idra must have been behind econ-wise, even considering Zerg needs to have a bigger econ. Now if Idra crushes opponents with equal economy (and army etc.), then something is wrong with the way Zerg is designed. But if Protoss or Terran crushes Zerg with a smaller economy, then it does not prove whether or not there is something wrong with the strength of the quantity-over-quality of the Protoss and Terran units (relative to Zerg units).
Exactly, and slightly better economically is the minimum point of which you can call "out-macro". What I'm saying is, again, how do you know when a Zerg's econ actually puts him equal with the opponent, since it is Zerg and Zerg needs a bigger econ? That is what's not making sense in your conclusion from earlier. If you can't be at least slightly better economically, you sure can't be out-macro'ing your opponent (in a ZvX). If you can't be out-macro'ing your opponent, then you cannot "prove" that there is something wrong with the Zerg quantity-over-quality design.

Glad to see a few more members from SlayerS in here, considering how well they did in the gstl!
|
The list of sick players eliminated from Code A shows how ridiculously hard it is to qualify in the first place. Sheesh.
Edit: Yay squirtle. Boo moonglade and haypro. :<
|
Ryung is a beast. Nuff said.
Sad that Haypro and Glade didn't make it - especially Haypro, man, that guy deserves a break.
|
haypro will win code A on next GSL and win GSL code S season after that. you heard it here first :D
|
Ryung & Min ~hwaitiiiiing!
Sad about Hypro

I'm not saying that they should add 10k to the championship prize, but they should at least add a fair amount to the semifinals/runnerup/champion. It's also a HUGE RISK to purposely drop down to code A (you can easily get knocked out of the tournament if you're on a bad day or meet MMA in the RO32).
Then again after thinking about it, GOM's intention is to make the code S as competitive as possible.. so adding money to the code A prize is counterproductive :\ Yeah bad idea.

So is there a list of all the players currently in Code S/ Code A? Also, who are all these new Protoss!? And how did 5 people from MVP make it in!? I'd love to see DRG in GSTL! ^^

Code A's Prize Pool:
I'm still shocked at how small Code A's prize pool is... however, I think it's absolutely necessary to give players the proper incentive to keep pushing themselves to the next level, or at the very least not get overly comfortable. If you ask me, it seems to be working judging by the leaps and bounds in skills we've been seeing every season... Fruitdealer who?

I agree, but rewarding Code A players with more money only gives everyone more incentive to remain second class.
Give them more money and I guarantee you the skill level in SC2 will plummet.

Looking forward to Ryung, Min and Squirtle!
|
You should get more money from coming last in code s then winning in code a, however I think the price polls are just to small overall.
|
Team MVP becomming so scary.
|
Oh man, I was so happy to see a bunch of SlayerS members get in and didn't notice the big names that failed to qualify. Code A will just continue to get better, and I think a lot of people will return back to watching it with the tough competition for spots.
|
Haypro sadly is indeed one of the few top players who just doesn't manage to prove himself. I've seen many extraordinary games from him....unfortunately many of these games just didn't matter all that much. Just think about his win vs Tyler; awsome? Yes. Breakthrough? Not really.

Not really. It's super super super hard to get into code A and it's even harder to remain in Code A. So there's a massive incentive for a player once in Code A to make it into Code S so he has the buffer zone of at least another 2 seasons in the Codes.
Giving more money to Code A will do wonders for it , not the opposite. There is no incentive to stick in Code A once you have made it to the up/down matches. Any player can lose a Bo3.
