Hello everyone,

Map Pool:

Scrap Station
Steppes of War
Xel'Naga Caverns
Lost Temple
Metalopolis
Shakuras Plateau

Watch the live stream at: http://www.justin.tv/edwardstarcraft)

I would like to pass the word about a StarCraft II tournament in Seattle, Washington hosted by Yoi! Gaming. Yoi! Gaming is a group of Entrepreneurship students at the University of Washington. We decided to have a little fun with our capstone project and throw a SC2 tournament.

Online preliminaries are going on right now, and you can join by participating in our Ladder System.

The top 32 players will compete at a live event in Seattle for a piece of the Grand Prize Pool ($1000 prize pool).

There's an entry fee of $20 to enter the Ladder, which will go toward helping with the prize pool. However, the pool is set and GUARANTEED regardless of participants.

I also want to share a coupon code that will give you guys $5 off the entry fee for being a part of the TL community, the coupon code is: "TLforum".

Type "TLforum" under apply coupon when you are on the join the tournament page: Join The Tournament Here

When?
The online ladder system is LIVE now.
The Final Showdown is April 23rd 2011 in Seattle, Washington.

Format:

The tournament format is a ladder system, and the top 32 players in the ladder will play at the University of Washington in Seattle to compete for the Grand prize pool ($1000 prize pool).

Map Pool will be announced prior to the tournament.

To climb the ladder, you will get 15 points by winning against other Yoi! Gaming members.

You can also get 3 points by submitting replays when you win matches in battle.net 1v1 quick games.

You can only play an opponent ONCE for tournament credit.

You must type "gl hf yoigaming" at the beginning of each match in order for your replay to count for credit in the ladder.

We hope to see you on the ladder soon!

GL HF,

Yoi! Gaming

The website for the tournament:

Nice, I already signed up and registered! Thanks for the coupon code. I'm looking forward to the tournament final (assuming I'm in the top 32)!

the ladder qualifier is really a bummer. is it really necessary? will there be far too many people just showing up for $20?

We decided to go with the ladder system to do something a little different... we want to create a community on the site so that hopefully the participants will go to know each other a little better. Also, the replays are available on the site (Under "buzz"/"replays"), so you can get a feel the play style of your competitors before the tournament. Just wanted to make things more interesting.

We're still a ways from filling the 32 player capacity, so if you sign up, you'd still have a good shot of making it in without submitting a replay (but that's no fun!)

In on this, pysched to have a cool even in Seattle. The ro32, is that going to be bo1;s or how does that work.

Also are we going to be just like in the informatics or cs computer lab, or are we gonna take a lecture hall hall and perform in front of an audience with flashing lights and crazed fans?

You can join the Ladder up until April 22nd at 12:01 am. However, that is also when we will close the replay submissions and lock in the top 32. (So if there's 30 players signed up, it would make sense, but if there's more, you probably wouldn't have time to climb the ladder).

The best way to insure your spot is to register early and begin submitting replays.

G'luck!

The ro32 will be bo1 due to time constraints. We'll be playing in the iSchool lab, but we do have a lecture hall in PACCAR reserved if we get enough people that want to watch. We'll either stream the final 8 from the lab to the hall, or set up a few computers in the hall.

Hey Edwad,

We're definitely interested. We have a caster, arthurMrZmeng, who's already on board, but we had talked to him about adding a co-caster so we can stream 2 games simultaneously during the preliminary matches.

If you're still interested, let me know, and I'll send you my contact info. We should meet up.

Fair, it's no fun, but for some people planning so far in advance is kind of a turn off. I live a ways away (so long drive and potentially a hotel involved) & not sure if I'll be free that weekend. If I could decide very close to the date, it's possible I could go, but being forced to choose way in advance turns it into a no...

Maybe something in the middle? Like top X in the ladder get some sort of incentive (like a bye into round 2) but walk ins can still play... unless of course you have harsh space requirements.
