Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

The invites so far are great.
It'd be nice to see a top level Korean or two. If this is a chance for NA to show off to the rest of the world, it'll be hard if they're mostly playing each other. Ace is fine, but Moon seems kind of weak in this match-up. He's not a weak player in the grand scheme of things but when Koreans look at the NASL and see a guy who never accomplished much in Korea (in sc2 of course) doing well against some what are supposed to be top NA players it may work against us.
That aside though, I'm excited about the tournament and I hope the production can live up to the players/$$ involved.

We all know for sure Boxer and Nada will be in and maybe Lyn or July. Dunno about the rest though

The same could pretty much be said about Artosis, yeah BW player but SC2? Not so much yet. No the same can't be said for Artosis. He actually qualified for the GSL. Which was season 1, I don't want to say he sucks or anything but that doesn't really account for much anymore. I mean, look at Maka for example, not even code A-caliber anymore. Looks like someone took the bait. Yes, he made GSL1. Which means he would have wrecked any NA / European tournament at that time. Something like 20+ top foreigners few out to Korea between GSL1-3 and tried to qualify. He's one of ..what, 5? that actually managed it in. Yes, that's an accomplishment. Even though those Koreans look bad now, they would have rolled over any NA / EU players at that time. And they did, because so many foreigners failed to qualify (incontrol, anyone?). I took the bait?
Yes, in that time I would have never doubted him to be chosen, but it was like half a year ago? It just seems to me that you can't say he has proven himself in SC2 in it's current state, which is not his fault ofc, being a caster and all, because it was pmuch all 1/2-base all-ins back then. I do think, however, that Grubby and Artosis are going to put up a better showing than some other guys that got accepted into the league.

Honestly, there's still 10 more invites, they probably won't all be Koreans but they don't have to be. And I think everyone is forgetting, this isn't some one off like the TSL where there's only this tourney, there will be at least 3 seasons (that are 100% confirmed according to the NASL people), so while this season your favorite Korean or whoever may not get invited, there's still an open qualifier for the 16th bracket spot this season, and theoretically two chances to qualifiy next season (bracket qualifier the top 8 are confirmed for next season, and there's the actual qualifier for the next season that is separate from that AFAIK.
in other news, I think I might faint if when I see some of these matches, looks really awesome so far. And i'm sure the seasons after this one will be even better!

And in the first season also... I'm happy that Artosis is in, but saying that he made it because of his SC2 achievements seems off.
Artosis has also maintained Master League on KR ladder, while casting GSL several days a week, producing several interviews, proteam house tours, and other junk for nerds on the internet.
InControL is the frontman for NASL, and that seems to have gotten him a spot. I've yet to see any tournament he did exceedingly well in. EG clanbattles haven't proved anything.

really though.. look at the fxopen invitational that just happened yesterday. the pool of players in that is probably the best that any foreign tournaments has had. it was run well too. the NASL just pales in comparison and if any more tourneys like the fx open invitational happen with an AWESOME mix of both the best of korea and the best of the foreign scene, the nasl will just be a glimmer of overhype
please im sorry but if i want to watch DDE or vibe or stalife or whoever else play, id watch the 100s of craftcups/whatever cups hosted on wednesday nights or sunday mornings.
this is just a craftcup quality pool so far with a prize pool of 400k. i want EVERY player to be good.

Sometimes people on this site piss me off. Only the top 35 players from each season continue automatically into the next season, so there will be plenty of opportunity for churn. They have to pick someone, and their picks seem really reasonable. They have already stated:
1. They want to focus on the Americas 2. They want to have strong personalities 3. They want good players
These three things are not always in complete agreement, but they have some good picks. Seriously, look at the format, only the first season is invite only. If your favorite player XYZ doesn't get invited, they can try to make it through the qualifiers, so deal. I hate how much whining goes on.

Called it! :D
Now I'm betting that Grubby versus Moon will be one of the matches broadcast on day 1.

So, this is my opinion:
Grubby: an untested player with a huge bachground in WC3. He don't deserve a place in the tournament for his results (has he any?). I guess you could argue he may become a good player, there's a lot of good europeans that started in the warcraft scene, but sometimes, talent doesn't transfer well between games (remember madfrog?). Let's say is he's an ok pick from a commercial point of view.
InControl: One hundread and something in the weakest ladder of the big three? Has never won anything at all in SC2? Not having the time to properly train because he has to cast and run the whole thing? Very bad choice.
dde: Who? Is he the Vibe of Terran?
Goody: an up-and-coming terran from Europe. No good results on big tournaments, but a lot of wins on the small ones, and he's growing strong everyday. A very good choice (horrible macro though).
PainUser: A good show at a MLG tournament and nothing more to say about him. He's playing bad lately. Poor choice.

Could possibly division 5 any stronger? Gratz to incontrol and grubby ^^
