Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |
I will be dissapointed if the current trend with Korean invites continue. Part of what makes the TSL so interesting is the whole "foreigner vs korean" "us vs them" mentalility. This frame of reference makes the games very interesting and draws a lot of the foreign population together to watch. When I watch Jinro battle it out in the GSL it feels like I am supporting a "foreigner" not a Swede. If I was running a business and I knew viewership increased based on certain factors, I would create as many "us" vs "them" matches as possible.
I wouldn't be surprised if this mentality continued for a long time to come.

I am so happy that Artosis made it into the field.

we still have 20 spots left... next day we still have 15 spots left... next day we still have 10 spots left? next day we only have 5 spots left.. Welcome to NASL where 50 of the world's best players compete.
This tournament does not have the small pool of korean star power that TSL3 has. Sux Nestea/MVP/Marineking didn't apply. Current best zerg/2 Terran are both not participating in the tourney. Only reason I would want to watch NASL is to see how Artosis fares against top NA/EU players.
|
glad to see the NASL focusing more on there own players like the TsSL does. nasl has 3 seasons to sell there product so its no suprise to see players with large followings being invited over koreans. the only koreans i would even invite are wc3 legends like moon and lyn who can attract people who were fans of wc3, but people like artosis, brat_ok, sen, tlo, white-ra are really going to bring in the numbers.
|
I personally would rather have non-koreans in the NASL because I think foreign competition is quiet entertaining and would be best for E-SPORTS out of Korea. However, I don't like how NASL advertises as "World's best players". Then again Worlds Best Foreigners sounds kind of meh. If thats how they advertised then I would prefer to have them stick to their word and essentially have a new GSL with a few more foreigners.
|
I really hope they add some code-s players soon otherwise I'm probably not going to watch most of the nasl match ups
|
Until I see ThorZain, GoOdy, or Jinro on that list I shall be disappointed.
|
Its not that i expected a GSL version 2, but I really would like to see more koreans involved.
What excited me most about the NASL was the diversity of play from watching the clash of korean and foreigner styles and how they would play out. Considering how much interest korean pro's have shown, I was hoping for more of them : / I'm just really hoping that NASL isn't a GSL: Foreigner Edition where it's 95% foreigners, 5% korean.
I guess we'll have to wait until all the players are announced :l

they are somewhat better right now but what's the point of hosting a sc2 league based in california with 90% koreans... eeshh, go watch the gsl...
good list so far... and they should invite all EGs, fnatics, roots etc... support NA clans in the NASL duh! Who on earth told you that they want 90% to be Korean? They just want to see the true top players like MC and Mvp instead of Ace and Moon. How about this, I only want 3 Koreans, just MC, Mvp, and Nestea. That's all. Nobody wants 90%. So, stop being stupid! then obviously my comments weren't directed at you? so chill... just chill... i happen to want the same thing as you... just few top koreans We're all pretty elitist when it comes to this (e-Sports). But I doubt anyone said they wanted a 90% Korean league. As an elitist, we want Koreans, just a little more than the current percentage (It would be nice to have over 10-15% Koreans). The stronger the competition, the better the outcome will be for us all. Actually that's exactly what 65% of TLers want: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=201568
A league with mostly koreans and a few NA/EU players. Thank god NASL didn't pay any attention to the small elitist minority, just because they are good at yelling.

The best players in the world...who aren't too busy playing in Code S...
People likes Slayers_Min better get in, it's not like he has Code S schedule conflicts.

People likes Slayers_Min better get in, it's not like he has Code S schedule conflicts. Yeah, after watching him in GSTL I'm sure everyone would love to see him in NASL.
But I'd imagine the invites were decided before that and in that case it's more than understandable if he doesn't get in. He was virtually unknown before GSTL.

The countless visitors of the most popular starcraft community on the net...a small elitist minority? Who do you think will follow the NASL every day over 3 months, if not this "small elitist minority"?

In the long run, the NASL wants to go mainstream. Which means branching out from the extremely well-educated TL community and appealing to the ignorant masses.

It's why WWE is the biggest wrestling federation with possibly the least amount of wrestling and TNA/ROH with possibly better wrestling talent who have a higher work rate, yet less "soap opera" toil away invisible to most.

Don't get me wrong I am a big artosis fan but surely he isn't in the top 50 players in the world?

A lot of people on the list aren't top 50. It's based off accomplishments, not who is actually top 50, or the tournament would be 70% Koreans.

wow awesome announcements for today especially the fan favorite Artosis:D but I'm so happy seeing whitera in there I'm getting so excited for this tournament, it's quickly becoming the premier sc2 tournament at least in the west^^
