Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

Very few people impress me in SC2 and for non koreans he's among the top. In fact, he's better than both the korean players in the tourney. Never thought I'd see the day where I was actually angry that a WC3 player was wronged... Sad day!
Haha, the same Grubby that just got 0-4'd in the FXO and only recently switched. There are A LOT of players who have an argument to be in this league, and if Grubby is among them it certainly isn't because of skill. Grubby has a lot of talent but isn't at the level needed to be in this tournament, and unlike Artosis he hasn't done an exceptional amount of community work (at least for SC/2).

Firstly, it's motherfucking Artosis, if anyone deserves a spot based on how important they are to the scene rather than skill it is him. Nobody would be asking this question if it was Boxer despite the fact that his skill level is waning, yet Artosis is the same level of historical importance to the western scene as Boxer imo.
Secondly, he qualified for GSL 1 without even practicing, and then took a game off a progamer without practicing in round 1. He plays at the tip top of the Korean server if he is to be believed and has the respect of most progamers in the scene who don't doubt his potential once he has practiced (which he has been recently).
Thirdly, and to contradict your quote, he beat HuK at IEM Gamescom according to TLPD which was a week or two before MLG Raleigh (which HuK won), and the rest of the games he got beaten by top level Terrans at a point when Z could almost never beat T unless you massively outskilled them (This was before the multiple Reaper nerfs and the Siege tank nerf?)

Hey guys? There are 50 spots. Can you even name 50 top players? Artosis getting in isn't much of a stretch when he actually qualified in one of the first GSLs (does no one remember that?). Besides, he's a practiced player from BW who has the skill and dedication honed from that time that will allow him to easily rise up to the challenge. I'm really, really excited to see him play. Remember, he's been playing a lot this entire time but is only now really grinding it out. We've seen how up-to-date he is when he commentates (always knowing new strategies and their specific timings, etc.).
That said, I'd probably shit myself if Day[9] and him played in the NASL together. Or even just did a showmatch. I can't even put into words how much I want them to play each other. Even just Day[9] starting to play a bit would make me indescribably happy.

Artosis has qualified for GSL open seasons and has come close in others. Artosis will roll your shit. Period. Also, to my knowledge, there are still more names to be announced. And, as suggested before, everybody should wait until all 50 names are announced before they pass judgement.

So happy for Artosis : :

Did you even read my post? I said that I don't believe this is about the best in the world anymore, and that's all. My point is he hasn't come close to proving he's among the best in the world. I don't buy the "historical importance" stuff. Boxer's not going to be in because he'll draw viewers, not because of his historical importance. Personally I think Boxer has proven his worth and skill to a much larger extent then Artosis. Artosis took one best of three series off of Huk back in October of last year, wow, that's a huge achievement, and he got rolled by everyone else. I'm excited to see Artosis play to see how he'll stack up, but I don't believe he's the best in the world, so get all pissy and defensive if you want, you can even think I'm a hater (which I'm not) but you're not going to change my opinion, and I guarantee that there's much more than fifty players with a much better SC2 track record, Xeris even mentioned the applicants were going to be judged on achievements.

I really think many of you put to much weight into the phrase "the best players in the world". So far the lineup of this tournament is pretty sick, can't wait for it. Nobody in there is a scrub or undeserving in my book

Yeah on achievements and other things, such as fanbase etc. I agree with that there are players with better SC2 track record but I'd rather watch artosis play than watching like... Polt? Or perhaps Choya. That would not excite me one 10th as much as watching artosis.
As for your complaint that this is not about having the best players in the world? Well. MC obviously is going to get in. The only ones that I'm not sure if they have applied are MVP and NesTeA but maybe they got invited or maybe they just wont show up. It is still a sick sick starting field.
And I think it makes sense that they also want to have some of the bigger names in the tournament. Artosis is one of the more famous and beloved member of the community. Alot of people are going to tune in to his matches (including me).
GL Artosis and gl NASL.
PS. Gogogo Day[9]

wat
There have been a ton of lists and speculations that go beyond 50 players.

Holy shit, reading some of these posts make me want to grab a blunt object.. ** At no point did the NASL, or anyone for that matter, ever say that the league was only going to be open the 50 best players in the world. ** Being invited into the NASL does not mean they think you're one of the top 50 players skill-wise. ** Chances are, no one here other than a select few have actually seen any of Artosis's games in the past 3 months or so. Your assessment of his current skill level is unfounded and unwarranted. ** Additionally, Artosis was included because the NASL is going to pimp the shit out of the fact that he's making his big "comeback" into tournament play, if they have any idea at all what they're doing. It would be stupid not to let him in on that fact alone. Look at the buzz already because of it... ** There are still 20 spots left, please save your QQ'ing about how your favorite koreans/other players are being "unjustly" left out until after everyone's been named.., -_-
Not really a spoiler, just a random thought.. + Show Spoiler + How badass would it be if Day9 and Tasteless entered on the down-low, and got accepted??! *nerd chills*
|
I'd watch the NASL just for Artosis. If Day9 and/or Tasteless got in, I would cry nerd tears of joy. If they all played well and gave awesome games, I think I could die a happy man.

I would actually watch this just to watch Artosis. That is all.
|
There's absolutely no reason not to watch NASL now. Please just take my money and show me Artosis fighting!

With a 50 player limit there are enough spots in there to invite some big community names with a large fan following even if their current skill isn't the highest (Artosis, Grubby etc). They'd add more to the tournament than taking the 20th best player on the NA server, who would only be in there to make up the numbers.

So excited to see Artosis's inclusion. This is one stacked tournament. Theres only a handful of players left on my 'wish' list id like to see in the league :D
