Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

+ Show Spoiler +In all fairness... he wasn't very well known until his recent win over fruitdealer, and even then it was simply because he happened to be the first player to take out a Korean, especially one who people did not expect to advance. I can't say too much since I haven't seen much of his play, and I'm definitely not saying he is bad, but I am not surprised he didn't get an invite.
Edit: Let me make it clear... don't take anything I said here too seriously... I was just offering my perspective.
On another note... I'm liking the picks for today. It seems that the remaining notable names outside of Korea are DeMuslim, MorroW (who I have no doubt will get in tomorrow) and Minigun. I can't wait to see how disappointed people are when their favorite Korean player didn't get in... :-/

Lol really? You want a foreigner only tournament.. Sure it sucks if your favourite foreigner didn't get in; but that isn't because a KOREAN took his spot; it's because the other fifty players - Korean or not - was selected.. Don't start a ridiculous flame war :/

They removed that rule.

not feeling it so far.
why is division 5 so stacked compared to say division 3 where half the players are known names but with questionable ability.
and inviting all the iem koreans over so many others they might have gotten in, like these new talents that are coming up like bomber or mma. 5 spots left, for who ? obviously getting boxer and nada just for the spectatorship since they're not gonna do a whole lot in-game, and then 3 more spots only from all the talent available, of which 2 are possibly july and mc, and even those only if certain conditions are met?
i understand there has to be a cut somewhere but i'd like to see some hardcore details on the selection process and reasoning that are at least believeable and cohesive (unlike previous statements), because the patterns i see i don't really like.
will see how this develops, so far i only got good vibes from the application vod idea and from picking artosis for the league, the rest is looking shaky in spite of xeris' and inc's reassurences and febrile pr work.
i have a few more specific comments to add, but i'll reserve them for when the final 5 are announced. in the end, let's hope it all turns out for the best.

What about Jinro and HuK? I find it odd that they weren't mentioned--is it confirmed that they aren't going to try to play in this? Also, Adelscott.

How do MoMaN, ViBE, dde, Artosis, Incontrol (probably a few others I can't think of right now too) deserve spots over anyone on this list?
I'd love to hear someone try to refute that

It has been stated 100000x times, jinro/huk/and adel did not apply.

Jinro, Huk and Adelscott did not apply. Jinro said because of the GSL time commitment.

Because this is the North American star league and they speak english? I dunno. Part of the NASL brands itself to being "the best of the best" but another part equally brands itself to having personality, relateable players and exciting rivalry/backstories.

And those two parts directly oppose each other (for the most part). They need to decide which one it is, cause right now it's more so looking like the "personality/backstories/etc" part.

GOMTV is paying broadcasting right fee for blizzard about 100 thousand a year(?)... how about this league?

GOMTV is getting the exclusive broadcasting rights in Korea. There is quite a difference between what GOMTV is providing in Korea and what NASL is providing in the competitive international tournament scene.

GOMTV pay for the sole right to Broadcast on TV. There is a difference.

LOl Relateable players... Im sure the MAJORITY of the viewers dont care whether they're relateable. if we want to see relateable players, we would go to the neighborhood LAN or watch craftcup featuring our IRL friends. I want to see a league that has games featuring players of TSL quality everyday, not just on a weekend basis. that was what this league was supposed to give but it seems like they'd prefer players like Incontrol/vibe/dde over koreans and even players like Minigun that literally has no RTS background but is really fucking amazing and has placed very high in tournaments and EVEN won a tournament with most players from this league will not get a spot
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/ROOT_Gaming_Success_Pays_Invitational
if u want any background Info.
sadly pains me to see Minigun here even rooting for the Koreans. if i was him, i'd be pissed. Unless the NASL somehow extended the spots, he wont be in it even when he is more accomplished than Half of that player pool and guess what, HE is young talent and improves every fucking day. he won a goddamn tournament featuring the best players in NA and he doesnt get in.
What is an accomplishment? oh wait Fruitdealer with his GSL win isnt an accomplishment either at this rate.
and its funny, people calling out Catz for lack of success too. HE WON a tournament. Really that should be a fucking Guideline to get into this league. Winning a tournament, more than what most of this player pool like DDE/Vibe/ etc has done. so dont give me that BS about catz not getting in. He is popular, creative, fun to watch and has had success.

This "North American" Star League talk seriously need to stop. They are currently the league that is trying the hardest to aim for a global audience, even broadcasting at diferent times so they can please fan worldwide, something not even the "Global" leagues do. I really believe this name wasn't a very good choice. They are clearly focusing a lot on the rest of the foreigner scene, and who know if it won't even be broadcasted in Korea like TSL. Unless they release something official about that, I think we should treat it like a global league and ignore its name. And like has been said to death, if you hate on the koreans because they are not american, why doensn't the same happen to europeans?
Now on the players, obviously not everyone would be pleased, if 100 people had chosen 50 players, we would get at least 20 diferent groups. If you invite koreans, people complain not all foreigners were invited, if you don't, people complain that they are not sticking to their words and inviting the better players. You can't please everyone.
I disagree with a few names on the list, I feel there are some players who really haven't shown much, but would be fine with only about 5 more koreans than the ones we currently have, counting on the fact that Boxer, July, MC and Nada will be announced tomorrow. That would add up to about 15, when we could easily get 25 based on skill alone. Trying to get some variety isn't bad.

Holy crap, this tourney is stacked to the gills. Can't wait for Tyler v Idra in group 5. And Artosis v uh...anybody, really, in group 1.
