Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.

Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

I am getting very worried about the direction this league is going. But there is still light at the end of the tunnel. There's still hope in that this might all be just an april fools joke.

Agreed. Denying the koreans for the sake of a few individuals interest is a travesty. It's still gonna be a sick competition but it's clearly obvious that the image of the NASL has been tarnished in the process - the best of the best needs to be selected and now some of them are going to miss out (oGs/ST players primarily, when each one of them has potential to win it). The GSL don't restrict foreign entry so why should the NASL? Well that's simple, the Koreans are of higher skill.

Seriously, though. People are really fickle and impulsive. They see a name like Cruncher and instantly bitch and moan. Several pages at the beginning of this thread were filled with "oh my god wtf is Cruncher doing there, he doesn't deserve to be in" etc. etc. Couple days later, people have seen him play in the V showmatches, have seen him play in the Justin.tv invitational, the TSL - and suddenly Cruncher is everyone's best friend, huge props to NASL for choosing him etc etc.

Just one example. :p

Pfft I said before these games that Cruncher deserves the spot and knew he would be in anyway.
(I said second best NA toss)

Problem is that all the nonsense coming from some is taking away weight from legit criticism.

But you are right, the critcism is indeed overblown. An overrepresentation of NA players and some favoritism was to be expected anyway. Some questionable invites (maybe like 5-10) dont make this "unwatchable". The hyperbole frome some in that regard is just ridiculous.

This is still the best tournament in the Western scene.

Good call on Cruncher. :D

And hell, I think the only thing recent tournament results have shown, that at this level of competition, no one is safe from being on the wrong side of an upset.

Agreed with your other points as well. The funniest part is that the names of the questionable invites probably differ from person to person as well. :lol

I dont purchase lesser PPVs from various Boxing organisations, Pro Wrestling (yea i know its "fake"), UFC. Reason is that unless a interesting figure is fighting or competing i simply do not care. I am not a special unique snowflake for thinking that way, its how everyone thinks, it is why Mayweather and Pacman draw millions of people while random boxers draw nothing.

Out of this 40 man list (10 still to go), 19 players i deem (my own opinion) not people i want to watch play SC2. Either they are invited because they are big personalities in the community, the problem with this is that you might aswell invite Husky, Day9, Brother Mack, those 2 guys who sang the Tasteless song etc. Some are invites only because of their clan tag moreso than their popularity or results, at least that is how it seems.

There is no point in me bitching about it, i kinda do feel bad for people doing NASL as it seems they have to deal with alot more questions and controversy than GSL, ESL, IEM, MLG, Dreamhack or TSL has. Alot of this has been unfair, some has been just and this player list is very underwhelming when half of the players there seem outright randomly thrown in.

Only 10 more spots, so that means alot of great players from EU and KR wont get in, that is dissapointing. I wish you guys had done a qualifier for this, not only would you avoided this whole selection process, but also tested out your streaming, production values, improved casting and basically run everything through a wringer while also gaining some experience for when NASL does begin+ made some money and build up alot of hype.

It is unfair that people are talking already of this being "EG n' Friends" and not a StarLeague of any kind.

Blizzard has backed it so its a MINIMUM of 3 seasons which means that as long as they make some money there will be 4+.

And yes I believe some of these players maybe more deserving than others but they have to start somewhere and I am sure that after they drop the 16 worst players out after S1 that S2 will be that much more competitive.

On another topic I heard that IGN was putting on their own Starleague? Is this true or are they just joining as a sponsor with NASL and MLG?

At the moment I would say no.
But the speed he is improving with is just astonishing.
When you watch his stream you see a different player after every week.

This league might come a little early for him though. I hope he somehow manages to stay in and be a serious contender in the second season.

Based on the TSL recently I would say that many of these unknowns are bound to tear apart some of the "better" players in the NASL.

Playing on the NA server while bratok experimented with some shit FE double port opening

But those games of him were really great, imho ViBE is a strong player who deserves a spot and i agree with the fact that our american friends doesn't make this korean-fest looking back at the recent TSL matches...

Also would like to see Adel and Mondi in there cause they are fucking awesome

The TSL un-knowns made it in through prelims, I believe pre-lims would be better for this, let all the people that want to compete sign up (masters only, grandmasters now?) and make a quick program random them around into groups, the top X from the groups make it. But the invites are meant to be on "results" so unknowns have no results to speak of so they should not be invited, also please invite all these dudes that are ripping it up in TSL.

I enjoy seeing top players go at it - I don't care about how popular someone is, because for me, it's a tournament to see who is the best player. For that reason, seeing invites like incontrol, artosis, grubby, axslav, etc disappoints me because imo in a tournament for the best player they don't belong and they're only there because either they are popular or are on a decent team. I understand for others, however, it is a matter of entertainment, and seeing their favorite sc2-personalities go at it is fun to watch, so I understand why you made some choices. I wish you guys the best of luck!
