I hope the team league is going to be good like IM vs St. And hopefully the foreigners won't get steamrolled by team korea.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyone think GOM is trying to prove the ultimate "Eliteness" of the regular GSL, by putting up players from all servers whom people recognise as top of their servers, against GSL's best players...

and when GSL players smash through, people will be shocked.... and realise that in fact, there is no more argument as to whether GSL is the premier competition or not

I'm pretty sure this isn't up for discussion already. Both recent tournaments that had korean invites got run over by the koreans.

I certainly agree, they must have some top notch planning to have made such a choice. If this takes away from the players going to MLG Dallas, I'm going to be pissed. Prestige and Korea vs The World is nice and all, but I'd much rather have players I could actually see in person.

EDIT: Apparently they announced this a long time ago. So nevermind about the intentional stuff. Nonetheless, as a MLG Dallas attendee, I am saddened at the loss the LAN will inevitably suffer as a result of the conflict.

Cool, I'm definitely excited and looking forward to this.

The scheduling conflict thing is kind of bad, though.

They announced the World championship in December/January way before MLG announced their schedule. I'm curious, too. If you qualify are you going to skip MLG for the GSL world championship in Korea?

Sure it's bad that it's overlapping with MLG, but we can see this positively i suppose... It's "only" 8 players and it might allow us to discover some new faces at MLG that wouldn't have a chance to be broadcasted otherwise. Let's see how this turns out!

In any case, we'll be treated with 2 nice sc2 events at that time, how can we be sad about that? time to get a 2nd monitor if you don't have one already!

Technically if you qualify you already have 2700$ in your pocket... Better deal than MLG by far.

And they are paying for your air ticket. Plus, I bet you get to stay at the foreigner house and train on the Korean server without any lag. For sure, we won't see Jinro at MLG because he's qualified for the world championship already.

Ugh, I don't understand a thing... can anybody sum up the format for me, please?

What I did understand is that this is no "World Championship" but more like "Korea vs Rest of the World", with Korea having as many representatives as the rest of the world in the final stage, right?
Well, I'll still watch it and even pay for it, but that they call this a world championship is quite a bummer.

Why shouldn't they?
IEM world final has 1 asia/taiwan/china player, 3 korean, 3 NA , 5 european players.

Well, that's "intel extreme masters", but the name "global starcraft league" does commit a bit. ^^

And in China there was no sc2 during that time yet, officially.
Officially, it was planned as follows:
4 from European championship
2 from NA championship
1 from SEA championship
4 invites from Korea (one of them turning out to be Idra)
1 from the global challenge (more like european challenge, though)

Yeah the team league is exciting. However, there is no prize money announced for that, so is it just an exhibition with no prize money? I can see it being just an exhibition since the main event is the 16 player tournament. Can you imagine if they sent out mvp first and he 8-0 the world team?

There's no way they'd send either Nestea, Mvp or (assumedly MC) out first if they want to make a show lol. They would probably bring in someone like Genius or Rainbow (heck even Rain) just to make it interesting.

Heh well we won't see someone like rain in it cause the korean players are based on gsl points earned to date. It's pretty much guaranteed that MC will have enough points right now and the two finalists of this season should gain enough points as well.

Morrow? Moonglade? That's already 2 of the 8 foreigner spots which is 25% of the lineup being zerg and if sen qualifies from asia that makes it 3/8 zergs.
