Anyone interested in participating please post your Character Name.Code and race. ~When posting your information, Please say 1 "I will donate to charity" or 2 "I want $15"*.
+ Brackets are up on BinaryBeast.com: http://binarybeast.com/xSC21102080/brackets + Prize pool is $100(or more, pending donations) to a charity of the winner's choice. ( Sieg.520 has chosen the Panda Trust for his charity, congratulations! ) + Final matches were not streamed by GosuGamers. + Tournament has ended, another YMWBP event is scheduled for 2/27/2011. + Start date was February 13th, first round matches should of started no later then 2PM EST. + Details, sign-up form, and other information is provided at my website: www.FuriousReplays.com
I am attempting to host the first ever tournament on, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, that will benefit a charity of your choice! This will in the end be a long running annual event that will occur as often as funds allow!
eSports has made a large movement to the Western front and in the media. As it continues to grow then players across the United States (as well the Globe) can compete on a professional level with the benefit of prizes awarded through tournaments.
Typically tournaments have a cash value or offer gear/tech worth some bucks. I felt a time of commitment and organized what I will dub the "Yo' Mama Would Be Proud" tournament, will be an event for gamers to show their worth in our brackets, and as well across the globe. The winner of the tournament can opt to donate the generated prize pool to a charity of their choice or degrade their dignity and take a much smaller amount of $15 for their own worth.*! This will allow for players to compete in something they love, and as well show their love for the world. This simple idea will allow for a competitive atmosphere, great entertainment, and will give people the opportunity to be charitable in a time where it is quite hard to even support our own selves (for me at least).
Right now I am looking for sponsors, donations, participants, and staff to help me compose a strong running, fun, and worthy deed for the players, and the world.
Everything is currently being put together and maintained by myself, the financial burden is of no stress to me as it allows for me to give my money to charity (Prize pool is currently coming out of my pocket). The pool is only at $100 currently, however being a full-time student and working for the school under a grant does not allow for comfortable living and wide enough pay checks. I am putting forth what I can and have my heart set on doing so much more in the future.
If anyone is interested, please visit my website: www.FuriousReplays.com
- I apologize for the lack of content, but this comes back down to work, school, real life, and having a dog!
You may contact me through my website very easily or PM me here.
ALL PROCEEDS will generate a larger prize pool to be DONATED to a Charity of the WINNER's choice.
Thank you all, for taking the time to read and get involved. Best Regards, Brandon aka LetzteAnima
Here I will provide a form that allows for copy and paste;; easy sign up in the TL forums!
Character.Code: LetztAnima.975 Race: Random Opt: 1
[ * ] Please note that if a player wins and chooses to take $15 instead, the remaining prize pool will be added to a new prize pool and another opportunity will be held next week to donate the larger amount. I of course, strongly encourage no one to opt for $15, this is a tournament for assisting good-willed people in providing our part to the well-being of our world.

i would donate to this if you can get it organized. not to be rude or unhelpful but im not going to just send you a donation for a nicely thought out post. i really like the idea and enthusiasm and would probably donate $50 as well, hope this comes together!

You personal contributions are definitely not necessary, but would be commended. No need to donate right away, why don't you just sit it out and see how it rolls for a couple sessions? I hope that with the following tournaments I will be able to generate a larger prize pool just from my own pocket alone!
------- Also, I appreciate your research... but this was a funraiser for cancer at their institute. While this was a valiant and remarkable event, it does not promote the same cause which I seek. This tournament will allow for a donation to ANY charity as well as other diverse bonuses. Thank you again for you concern though

Finally, tournament updates have been made... we are just 5 days away now so please, everyone get signed up ASAP!

seems like a very cool idea unfortionatly i cant play because im too busy but GL

Will the winner get a tax receipt in their name?
sorry, just had to ask, im an accountant
|
Hahaha, ofc... gotta beat the IRS.
Antimage- if you can tell me how I can create a legal tax receipt I will do so. However, didn't they make it so you would get no deduction on your taxes unless you donate over something like $40,000?

i dont know US tax law im from Canada.
ya no worries I was just asking =P I'll check out my schedule and see if I can make it
always love these kinds of initiatives. Just in the future, sadly human nature usually requires you to offer a more direct prize that appeases the wallet rather than the mind and consicence =)

For this reason, I am offering the greedy hounds out there another tournament on my website worth $220.
|
Hahahaha, you are all so greedy! As soon as I mentioned the other tournament I got people to go to my website just to register for that one.
That is completely horrible, I need more good-hearted and open-minded people please!!!!

Bump for Thursday!
Have a good day everyone!
|
Bump for a good cause.
Still not enough applicants, should I pretty it up with images? What can I offer to better excite the will of players?
--- I know what I will do, up the ante! I have now decided to contribute an additional $50 out of my bank to add to the prize pool. You now will have an opportunity to benefit a charity with $100. Good luck everyone!
Best regards

Bump for Friday, 2 more days until tournament time

I will be contacting all the participants personally tomorrow evening. I expect the tournament to last 4 hours. So we are looking at either starting this at 11am or 2pm EST(That's EDT or GMT-5)

I'd join up but I got to work this weekend, wish you luck.

And can I request a 2 EST start time, the later time allows for us West Coast people to not have to wake up at the crack of dawn to start. (Even though waking up to play sc2 is pretty much fantastic.)

lol... This tournament is hilarious because progamers have to eat. But at the same time would be hilarious if one did show up for the hell of it and took the 15 bucks and it ended up shamed.

Which is why I have prepared another event where the prize pool will have the remaining pool from this event added on to it. It is a good social experiment indeed, however there will not be much room for the players who choose $15.
|
Can you give me an exact time the donation tournament will be? As much as a need another 12 pack of soda, too many people don't have that luxury. I'll play if it doesn't conflict with my schedule
|
I expect first rounds to be started by 2PM EST. The finals should land around 6PM EST

Nevermind, I realized that the brackets aren't up yet. Silly me.

All participants, please ensure that you have a chat window dedicated to channel FuriousReplays during the tournament. All first round matches need to start by 2PM, EST.
To the last 4 applicants: I apologize but to prevent complications the tournament had to be capped at 32 players. I would like to get you in to the next one, which will be in two weeks. If interested I will contact you personally to allow for first seed. Also, consider checking out my Masters Cup tournament worth $100, type in FTW on TL search or go to www.FuriousReplays.com

Are you taking any backup players in case of no-shows?
|
To all participants please be advised, you should be parking in chat channel FuriousReplays. Any body who needs to drop out please inform me soon so I can fill your spot with a reserved applicant.
I will be gone for a bit but will return at 2pm, I have an appointment to donate blood so upon returning we can get this thing started. Dusk and Hootis can be found in the chat channel and can help answer questions.

Does day9 count as a charity? Because as I recall, he was trying to live this entire year off of donations and I'm sure he'd appreciate the $100 (he definitely deserves it anyway)
|
Thanks to all who made it on time and competed for their own cause. The tournament was fun on my end, though quite chaotic handling it solo. Everyone did a great job of showing patience and respect though.
Congratulations to Sieg! Be sure to get the details of this, and upcoming events! www.FuriousReplays.com
