Zotac Team Invitational Season 2 2011 Jan 12th - 31st / 2011 1월 12일 - 1월 31일 10.000.000 ₩ Format: The participants of the Zotac Team Invitational Season 2 are the 8 members of the Starcraft 2 conference, along with Lim Yo Hwan's team, SlayerS. The regular season consists of each team playing every other team once. In the end, during Post Season Period, 4 teams will enter the playoff. The first map of each match is known beforehand. Coaches choose which player to send out first without knowing who the other team will send. Following the All-Kill format, the winner stays on, and the coach of the team who lost the previous map chooses both the new map, and which player to send out to fight on it. Generally, there are two matches each day, except for the first and last days of the regular season, in which there are four matches. The finals will be held in and streamed from the GOM-TV studio.
Participating / invited teams:
- ZeNEX
- MvP
- SlayerS
- STARTALE
- fOu
- Prime.WE
- TSL
- oGs-TL
- IM

wow MKP reversed all-killed ogs o_O
|
any TL member want to comment why they aren't chosen to play (if they even want to play)?
also many allteam kills Oo
|
|
Thanks for the info.
I'd suggest IM start using mvp and NesTea if they want to actually win a game...

I set up a wiki page for this earlier today, Zotac Team Invitational Season 2. Have a few more in-depth stats on the front page, as well as an upcoming schedule. Check it out and suggest improvements~

oh wow there are so many great players who are not in GSL yet. Huk and co has a tough road ahead to qualify it seems.
People like NEXPuzzle, STBomber , TalesMVP ( or are they people we know on AKAs?)
|
so no one on TL has played for oGs-TL yet?

Bomber holding it down for ST =)
Choya coming through in the clutch for fOu lately too :O
Sucks that IM don't have either of their 2 best players playing heh

cause in reality the team is oGs.... The TL part was added just for us here. No chance for TL guys to play sadly

Marine king is so damn impressive.. SlayerS is doing alot better than i thought it would.. So surprising to see IM on the bottom and oGs near there as well.. They are meant to be the most dominant teams in the scene; guess no MVP and no Nestea makes a big deal hehe

Who on God's green earth is NEXPuzzle??? All-killing oGs (Ensnare/Hyperdub/MC/Cezanne), what the....really? Genius with new ID?

thanks for this thread, was disappointed when looking thru the lists and seen no Liquid guys have participated

Looks like all the teams in korea are rather even... no team is seriously dominating the other.
I think IM would clean house if they sent MVP and Nestea though

Ouch that sucks, hope it's not serious enough that its going to affect practice for the Code B prelims/Code A up and down matches for them

Probably worth noting, ST_Xanadu is GuemChi.

is there a stream?
where can i watch vods?

I don't see what the big deal about TL not having played in a few yet is. MC Top Ensnare and Zenio are all at the level of the TL guys, maybe Jinro is up at the MC/Zenio level moreso, but no need to sasume they're being shut out, its just variance.

What the heck why have I not heard of this before now?
And where did this MvP team come from?
And why are top teams getting trashed?
And how is ZeNex winning?

Slayers is doing really well, wow. We've barely heard of any of these players. And yeah, so is ZeNex.

are replays available for this?
|
Germany1287 Posts
There are no replays available. We could ask HukRetHayproJinro whether oGs have some replays of their games, but I doubt that A) the Zotac tournament-orga allows it and B) the players themselves want them published. Remember at least the finals will be streamed on GOMTV.
|
It's quite surprising that the teams doing well in GSL are doing poorly in this tournament and vice versa. Slayers is in first place despite only having Boxer in Code S and IM is in last place. Of course if IM actually sent out Nestea and MVP they'd probably be dominating but for whatever reason they aren't. What's more surprising is that OGS-TL's mediocre results despite sending out their top players regularly.
|
red4ce a bit something like Bw proleague sometimes happens. ANd, where can I watch something of this OMG!!??
|
Holy shit SlayerS are raping the field o_o

SlayerSBoxeR talent scouting is very nice :O Unexpected that SlayerS team is doing really well. Very good for BoxeR as he can practice better then. Hopefully we'll hear more of his team in code A.

And how is ZeNex winning? I think it's pretty important to see who is actually playing, although some of the top names did lose (like MK and MC occasionally), many of the matches were played during GSL4 itself and the lineups were not the ones in competition (i.e. IM has never played mvp or Nestea). Still, oGs doing that poorly is kind of a surprise.
|
so only finals will be on Gomtv eh. i hope all of their superstars play. so it will be @ end of Jan. i guess will be after GSL season 1 ?
|
WOAH so many matches. Interesting to see that the playing field is alot more level than it might seem. Can't believe I only found out about this now ^^
The standings are pretty interesting, I doubt anyone would've predicted the teams currently at the top 4...
Guess I should spoiler my thoughts... + Show Spoiler +So I'm sure everyone expected almost the entire standing table to be reversed (bar MvP). It is certainly a bit of a shock to see IM right at the bottom, considering they were 2/4 of the GSL4 semi-finals. I guess it's to be expected considering NesTea and mvp aren't playing. One wonders where the team would be if they were playing their strongest players.
It's good to see some of the smaller teams doing well though, shows that there are lots of up and coming players ^^
|
can anybody give us an update or breakdown of the current SlayerS team? Dunno if people who follow the korean websites have greater insights about their players.
|
Wow Slayers team is really impressive man. Also disappointed about IM, where the heck is NestTea and MVP ?
|
I was rooting for TSL with this. Not sure if they can get in 4th still. Depressing. oGs-TL is doing decent though. I'm glad.

Well, for Ryung specifically, is usually high on the Top 200, finished Top 8 in Gainward (through long single eliminations and beat Kyrix, Rainbow in Bo3s), and used to be on Prime.
|
interesting the top 3 teams we expect are in the bottom LOL some aren't even playing seriously just to prepare for GSL

well obviously when nestea and mvp are in the gsl, they won't play in this team league. but i see nestea in there already after losing in the gsl, so presumably mvp would play for im too when the gsl is over.

slayersboxer only played once for his own team yet... Well I think they don't take this tournament too serious... GSL is far more important...

Tonight IM busted out one of their big guns in MVP but it wasn't enough, as Puzzle performed an all-kill and ZeNEX won 4-1. oGs-TL pulled out a tight one against fOu, which they needed to do to hold on to a chance at the playoffs, and Startale rolled over MvP 4-1.
After tonight's games, SlayerS, ZeNEX, and Startale have clinched the top 3 spots, and their games tomorrow will determine who finishes first and who finishes 2nd. On the other end of the spectrum, IM and MvP have been eliminated from playoff contention. The four who are left to battle it out over the last spot are the following.
oGs-TL 4-4 (0) - they have completed their matches, so they have to await tomorrow's results.
TSL 3-4 (-2) & Prime.WE 3-4 (-2) - these two teams play each other tomorrow. If it's a 4-3 game, both miss the playoffs. If it's 4-2, the winner of the series goes to tiebreaker against oGs-TL. Assuming this goes by head to head record, oGs-TL would hold the tiebreaker against TSL and Prime.WE would hold the tiebreaker over oGs-TL. This means that in order to pass oGs-TL for the playoffs, TSL needs to win 4-1 or 4-0, and Prime.WE needs to win 4-2 or better. However, we still haven't counted the last team.
fOu 3-4 (-3) will finish out the playoff scenarios. fOu, with their poor differential and the fact that they just lost to oGs-TL, needs to go 4-0 to pass oGs-TL. If they do anything worse than 4-0, they will be eliminated. Because they are 1 game differential behind TSL, and TSL beat fOu head to head, if TSL wins 4-1 or 4-0 tomorrow they will advance to the playoffs no matter what fOu does. Finally, if fOu goes 4-0, Prime.WE needs to win 4-0 to go to the playoffs, because they lost to fOu head to head.
I just realized there's 1 more situation: fOu goes 4-1 and prime.WE goes 4-2, which would cause a 3-way tie between them and oGs. No idea how that tie would be broken.
I hope I didn't leave anybody more confused than they were before they read this.
oh yeah this is all assuming no penalty points for any teams. as far as I know TSL has 2 warnings and fOu has 1 warning, but neither have any actual penalty points. If they do, that changes things, obviously.
|
Germany1287 Posts
I added the warnings to the standings. I think the warnings are actually penalties? I'm not sure. It's a bit stupid to give out penalties for chatting ingame. Sounds like Kespa-slavery. S2con released a statement about a 3-way-tie situation today: Team with penalty points are considered last in such a tie. I'm not sure. It raises hope for oGs-TL, but they still rely on specific results.
|
Why is bomber so good and elogiated in other tourneys and not doing good on gsl /
|
United States7481 Posts
in that case zere I think a 3-way tie would eliminate TSL and go to a 2-way tie where prime.we has the tiebreaker over oGs-TL.

Puzzle all killing IM.. wow :O I'm sorry to tell you that oGs-TL just barely missed the playoffs in fact. TSL needed to beat Prime.WE 4-1 or better to clinch their spot in the playoffs, and thanks to a Killer all-kill, that's exactly what they did. In the other matches, MvP beat SlayerS 4-1, Startale beat ZeNEX 4-2, and everyone's favorite Random korean, GuMiho, had an all-kill (weirdly enough randoming a mirror in all 4) to carry fOu to a 4-2 victory over IM.
The first round matchups will be: STARTALE vs TSL (1st map: Metalopolis) ZeNex vs SlayerS (1st map: Metalopolis)
As a side note, the ZeNEX-SlayerS matchup will be a preview of the GSTL, since they are also meeting in the first round in that tournament.

Both Startale vs TSL and ZeNex vs SlayerS was close during the regular season play (4-3 for both). These are going to be great matches. Hope TSL wins.

it has been said by a lot of players that sometimes shit happens during qualifiers. you can face sadzenith or choya, or you can suddenly face people like bitbybitprime who all in's 24/7.

Puzzle was knocked out by Losira (it's in Losira's interview), Bomber by one of the two SlayerS qualifiers. Bit of a shame because I wanted to see them both, but oh well, I know Losira is good and shall just hope the SlayerS guys are too.

Puzzle was knocked out by Losira IIRC
edit: slow

Rainbows builds a refinery and puts no SCVs on it; goes for early expo.

3gate robo expand from Puzzle. Tons of sentries out. Puzzle's expansion up and running before Rainbow can float over his OC.

Looks like it was similar to zergs mining 100 gas for speed then pulling guys off. he mined enough for the tech lab, pulled guys off gas until he could expand, then put them back on.

Puzzle pushes with tons of sentries in addition to immortals and stalkers. TONS of forcefields go down, but Rainbow holds.
|
Rainbow should have sent those SCVs back earlier; he lost like 45 seconds of mining time on 10 SCVs.

Except why do you even need the early lab then? The only things you can use a lab for require more gas...

Wow these korean commentators are really analytical. I love it!
|
Puzzle pushes against Rainbow's PF at the gold. PF goes down after an intense battle.
|
o.o am i crazy or was that PF not in the right spot?
|
Rainbow pushes out with MMM, vikings, and quite a few SCVs. Puzzle only has four or five colossi and a handful of gateway units.
|
|
Supply block is going to cost him
|
Rainbow's army proves too strong and he smashes through Puzzle's forces and kills his gold.
Puzzle GGs.
|
kind of hard to see but that looked like good micro by Rainbow
looked like he used SCVs to draw Collossi fire
|
wow, Rainbow's smaller army rapes Puzzle's army >.<... too many stalkers i guess

great back and forth by rainbow getting those colossus.

It wasn't at all xD
The length of time it took to take down that repaired PF really cost Puzzle imo, lost a lot of troops there
|
Wait how did Rainbow stomp that, it looked like Puzzle's army was bigger
|
those highfives look like Proleague
|
man this team league looks dope, almost like sc1 proleague :D
|
i think chargelots or some FF's were what was seriously lacking there
|
someone needs to 6pool to ramp up the early game intensity, falling asleep on these games before things get interesting
|
every scv or 2 soaked up 5 collosi lazors - cool idea but puzzle should have been targeting front row of infantry. Solid EMPs made colossi fall fast to vikings too

Yes, even a bronze toss knows that as soon as the first colossus is out T will start massing vikings. It's a nobrainer to go towards HT with chargelots asap.
I can't believe I see such an obvious mistake at this level.

First look at a new Code A player in Coca, hoping he deserves his position and puts on a good match here or we might start to look at a rainbow all kill lol ^^

all ling defense worked better than I expected
+1 melee obviously helped
this Zerg has 0 creep spread and does he have a baneling nest?

Nice defense by Coca. Wasn't sure if pure ling (with +1 though) could defend a standard 4rax stim timing like that.
Leenock could learn a thing or 2 from coca :S

Bomber you sexy son of a bitch. Reaction on zergs face seeing 8 reactor barracks and no banelings nest must have been priceless.

that was like 6 reactors THERE IS NO WAY he could support that much lol!!
|
That was pretty stupid. Only lings and Mutas don't defend against pure Marines on equal bases, oh surprise.
|
No banelings or infestors...against marines. Yeah that didn't end well. I don't think any amount of ling/muta would've won against even that amount of marines.
Edit: Normally I think mule disses are lame because they're waaay overused, but pre-emptive disses before you have even engaged is pretty beastly, have to admit.

Well 2base worth of minerals is about (800x2)+(180xmules) per minute, so assuming he uses all his energy for mulage thats about 1600+540= 2140 minerals per minute.
6 reactors + 2tech lab worth of barracks lets you make about 4per reactor barracks and 2per tech lab barrack per minute. So thats about 28-32 marines per minute max capacity (constant production), that costs about 1500 minerals. So yeah I think he could support it off 2base.

Given he opened 1-rax FE into 4-rax on LT nonetheless, I think it was his game plan from the start. Seeing the stim marine micro in the first engagement I reckon he would favour his chances against the usually small amount of banelings zerg has at the time + element of surprise.

Byun is a chronic over-stimmer. I think we need to find him a good rehab. Maybe Dr. Drew. Stimming 50 marines to break destructible rocks when you have 3 medivacs? not the best! also the banshee got all his marines to orange without even firing one shot

ST_Bomber looks really solid. It's a shame that he didn't qualify. He's definitely more than enough for Code A.

yeah there's something different about team games, just seems like there is greater effort behind winning when it's just not one player fighting for himself/herself but for an entire team. To those saying that they fight for their team even in regular GSL, yes of course they do in a way but still not quite the same thing.

I think it's a temporary arrangement, though he provides a nice foreigner presence.
Nice to see him and JulyZerg standing around in the back like total bosses.

That was really fun, hopefully they consider providing a little more coverage on the ZOTAC events in the future and not just the finals.
Can't wait for the GSTL now =)

JulyZerg looked so satisfied during the interview with Bomber :D

What a great map Shakuras is for games, if only the top and bottom expansions were islands rather than narrow hallways connecting the mains I think this would be the bast map in the pool. yeah, shakuras is actualy a great map, and not only because most other maps are poor, it's just a great map by itself, imo much better than the 3 maps they added to the pool (those seems great too) Blizzard should make more maps like this one. The only other Blizz map that compares is Zel Naga Caverns, which I think is the best map they've got. Cross positions on Metal and LT aren't this good because everything's funneled into a big somewhat open area in the middle which I think is boring for games, the terrain on Shakuras just suits long multi-front battles so well because of all of the different attack paths and destructible doors (this is how destructible rocks should be placed, not sitting in the thirds and in backdoors to mains). It's really such a fun map.

Here's the pic of the winning players on Startale (came with an interview, maybe somebody will translate):
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/e6Q63.jpg) anyone else think Bomber looks like a younger version of former MBCgame Coach and current TSL manager Lee? + Show Spoiler [pic for reference] +

Are there any VODs of this (fairly reluctant to look through the 20 pages of this thread) ?
Edit: Looks like someone on this page says that you need to be in Korea for VODs and has a link.

Awesome series, was fun to watch just so disappointing to see only 5 games but I guess that's how it goes most of the time! I swear they really need to expand Code A or something, so many players deserve to be at least in there =[.

Hoping this is allowed since GOM won't be dropping vods for this, but I found this link posted elsewhere: http://www.livestream.com/star2ipnida/video?clipId=pla_10e60c43-38c6-4ed6-95c2-730b14b81216
It does NOT show the first three sets unfortunately, so it's only Bomber's sets against CoCa and Byun + award ceremony. The video is not actually an hour+ length, since there's dead air at the end for a while.

Yeah, I asked gom if they'd take the Korea-only restriction off the zotac vods and they said no
