Correct if I'm wrong but I thought he only took a game off Flash who then beat him in the the three other games.

He never beat Flash in a BO5 - he lost 3-1. MVP was pretty mediocre at SC1 - he had <40% win rate in proleague/starleagues yet he's top tier in SC2. The same goes with Iron (oGsMC) - the kid had a 10% win-rate in broadcasted matches and now he's tearing it up in SC2. Clare[Shield] (now MarineKingPrime) was also on a BW proteam but hardly ever got a chance to play broadcasted matches - now he's also top tier SC2.
It goes to show you that SC1 is a harder game (at least mechanically) and when true top-tier BW pros transition to SC2, specifically Jaedong, Flash, Bisu/Stork then the scene is gonna get scary. Just give them a month or two... The cream of the crop talent is still playing BW...

MVP might be a mediocre sc1 player, but even then he is the best ex sc1 progamer playing sc2.
|
Compared to MC or NesTea or Fruitdealer, MVP was a god at SC1. But we know that skill in SC1 is not necessarily the same thing as skill in SC2.

After time? eh.

I though july was the best ex sc1 progamer playing sc2? Players like July, Boxer, NaDa, were legends in BW, but their actual periods of domination were a number of years prior to SC2's release. In BW, the average skill level is constantly rising, so by the time SC2 released, many old legends were unable to compete with the contemporary top players. To illustrate, before their transfer, the old legends were underdogs in BW to at least a couple dozen Proleague regulars who had nary a Starleague title to their name.
MVP allegedly has had the best BW results in recent times among BW -> SC2 pros, even though his sum accomplishments over BW history are dwarfed by those of the legends.

Just watched MVP vs. Hyperdub. Man. Brutal doesn't even describe it. Poor Hyperdub.
|
Hyperdub who salvage his 3 (or 4) bunkers just 3 seconds before the big protoss push <3 Nice job :d
|
As someone stated Nada, Boxer and July dominated along time ago, when MVP retired the game was at a completly different level. Hes prolly the best player that has transfered

It's not that the skill in BW has risen its mainly that one loses his reflexes with time, scientifically proven one loses more than 25% of their reflexes when they hit 25-30, still you are young and all and can still "compete" but in a game that has been around for 10 years and every single timing is figured out so well being 25% less than those pre 25-30, makes you automatically slow etc etc.
What GOM/GSL/SC2 are doing now is trying to get that new blood, that would have been flash's successor to become a SC2 pro-gramer instead of becoming a BW pro-gamer, which will dry out BW, whatever happens in Blizzard vS KeSPA BW will naturally die because new comers to the scene (talking about about the 10 year old that starts playing RTS) will most likely play SC2, and as SC2 is refined it will reach BW status, as well as switch over when BW dies. SC2 is better for esports because young kids are more likely to pick up SC2 than BW (BW is just ugly, I love it but the graphics are just bad, and so is it's movement mechanics--which in some weird fashion make micro harder and raise the skill-cap).

I didn't want to say that MVP in SC2 = Flash in BW. I was just saying that recently, MVP was dominating in a flashesque fashion, eventhough his accomplishments in SC2 are still small compared to was Flash did in BW.
MVP is 25-6 (which makes a 80+% winrate) in professional matches and 9-1 in his last 10 games, thus having a better overall record that oGsMC who is 25-7.
Actually IMMVP is the top ELO ranked player according to the database. In 13 games played in the gainward tournament against top competition he lost only 1 game against Marine King
|
Wow IM is one stacked team. Mvp and NesTea are pretty much the best Terran and Zerg respectively in SC2.
|
IMMVP looks positively terrifying. MVP vs NesTea final?
Also, Cezanne taking out Loner! Didn't see that coming, well done sir.
