Can people just come to watch this tournament? And would there be any decrease in price for not playing?

I'm pretty sure if you don't use a computer there, it's free. But if you wanna play on a computer, you have to pay the venue price.

Project X will be taking over the entire venue all day just for the SC2 tournament and we encourage visitors to cheer on their friends. However we may limit the amount of visitors allowed due to space limitations. We ask that all visitors remain respectful and conscious of the tournament in play.

$40 is pretty extreme for a one day tournament, and you are taking an exorbitant entry fee and only paying half of it out when you also have sponsored prizes?? major cash grab going on here

Project X is extremely passionate about the LAN gaming / e-sports community in Calgary. We are committed to hosting high quality events and tournaments. It costs a significant amount to take over the largest LAN center in Calgary, even for a day. Half of the ticket price is going towards the cash pot and the rest goes towards venue / marketing expenses. Anyone who has hosted large tournaments like this knows the amount of volunteered time and energy it takes to organize a successful event.

Thanks for the post and everyone else for jumping in

We have have two "friend' lans planned for january weekends in the same format as this one (although on a smaller scale), and each have the 3 days before that weekend off work, where we are going to go head to head 30-40 times (as we are each others worst matchups) and ladder a bunch. We also have multitasking competitions at these lans, where we use the multitasking trainer and see who can get the farthest on the hardest diffculty. Sounds Dorky, but its alot of fun.

But Essentially just playing a fuckload of matches.... while listening to the Lord of the rings soundtrack =P

I use a montage. I play clips of myself practicing while playing shitty music in the background. The first few clips show me completely failing but I improve at a drastic rate. At the end of the 2 minute montage, I am somehow amazing at starcraft, and apparently a month has passed. It worked in Karate Kid.

I'm pretty sure if I play this while practicing for my match at a LAN my opponent will just concede out of sheer terror.

Yep, based on his registration it is Kevin. No worries, we will be giving away lots of house prizes and our sponsorship goal is to have everyone walk away with something. Alot of our local fans are looking forward to the tournament to really gauge on where they are at as a SC2 player.
