The reason people are mad, honestly, is because this great game, in the greatest tournament we have, was decided by one player making units, pointing them directly into the other persons base, and then clicking slightly behind his units and pressing A.

If the game was in anyway complex or long or involved lots of decisions (which will be the norm in 5 years), then there wouldn't be as much hate.

That's... very sad of you. You imagine his smirk to be meaning "haha I beat your godless foreigner hero ajajjajajajajja xD". While it actually means "sweet, I'm in the ro16"

I was so begging for ret to build some additional spine crawlers.
It broke my heart to watch him barely defending over and over. D:
Though good job Ret, gogo grind your way to S-class. :D

(G) how to succeed in sc2 ?
1. Pick T
2. learn 5, 1-2base all ins, go win GSL

Protip: last two winners of GSL were both Zerg.

On Topic:
Sad to see Ret go out, but I couldn't fault TheBest's play, it was relentless and brutal.

Protip: last two seasons, zergs were able to downvote maps.

Ret was clearly outplayed in the last two games. TheBest had strong harass, forcing Ret out of his usual (and beastly) macro style.
What won TheBest the last game wasn't the map, it was co-ordinated harass with the hellions, sniping the queen and getting that viking to take out the overlords.

Saying that the maps were the main reason for the losses is a cop-out, and frankly, insulting to both players.

A zerg being "outplayed" on steppes of war. You must be joking.

If you have a point, make it.
If not, you can continue to make these inane comments like the above.
By outplayed, I mean TheBest played better than Ret. I hope that was easy enough to understand.
Lack of baneling speed, fast hatch, missed transfuse, etc.

Keep using the maps as your crutch, it seems to be working well.

More spine crawlers would have done nothing at all. He had 2 dropshipmedics anyway so he could have easily elevatorted everything up or to the nat or somewhere else..

how impressive was that 2 pronged attack by TheBestfou? and with great micro on both armies. shows how good ret is that it needed something so special to barely beat him. GG. ret looked extremely deadly. he definitely should stay in korea for gsl 4 , 5.

Funny how people don't recommend game 3 just because Ret lost, lol. That game was SICK intense, on both parts. It could have gone either way until the very last minute. Yes, we all(if not most) want Ret to continue, but don't diminish a truly epic game just because it didn't go your way.

game 3 was intense, both player played well, my only grudge is against GOM for taking away map veto in blizzard ladder map pool...

Ret got a bit shafted with the maps, but his opponent played very solidly with some really good micro when it counted.

Thebest proved to be as good as they said. He sure knows how to exploit the Terran strengths.

Real nice control from thebest. I was rooting for ret, but you know, stuff happens. Steppes was just an evil map, but on Jungle Basin it wasn't the map that was the problem so much I don't think, as the key reason that that map is impossible is that whole third base thing, which never came into effect.

You're absolutely right. I wish ret had won, and I think ret is absolutely the better player of the two, but Jungle Basin had nothing to do with the game. Ret made some mistakes and thebest threw some good stuff at him (albeit some rather infuriating extended 1 base play).

To be quite frank, if the map had been different and ret had made all those mistakes and won, should we then say that the other maps are imbalanced for Zerg? (Before people freak out, I'm not actually suggesting they are, I'm just pointing out an interesting logical leap).

It's funny how you actually have to drone. There was no overdrone in this game.
Do you even know how fucking ineffective all Zerg units are against MMM?
Very...

Zerg is so underpowered.

So underpowered that they won the past two GSL.

And the reason why Zerg won the past two GSL's was because there was a map vetoing system that balanced the field of play. When you're basically guaranteed a loss because of crap maps (Steppes), there is more bias towards Terran to win the GSL because there is no such thing as a hard-Terran map.

So far into the game and still on 1 base with no intention to expand is very much all-in.
