Well also a good portion of the foreign contenders of other races succeeded the last 2 days and the protoss ones did not.

I found this funny: Aya (#6233478347875389 KR)

This would be better than any balance discussion on any forum I guess. What'd you know? Maybe he does
ofc I dont know if he does. I am just pointing out that it would be better than discussing balance in LR threads :p
OT: I am shocked that there is so little info on Select. He is the last foreigner trying to qualify and noone knows how he is doing?
Also, Does anyone know what race Julys opponent plays?

I'm no authority, but personally I don't find them underpowered. I do however think that small things can make a huge difference and this time it is the map pool. Having scrap station in there is really asking for protoss to take a beating. They got their wish.

Btw, I'm kinda confused... did/does Tasteless compete or not?

Actually, at the beginning of GSL #1, most Koreans thought Protoss was the most powerful race, not Terran. This can be seen on the JingJing poll and by the number of Protoss entering GSL #1 (27, the highest of any race).
However, the Protoss entering GSL #1 had horrible results for the most part. Protoss had really bad win records vs Terran in GSL #1 and versus both Zerg and Terran in GSL #2.
I'll refrain from going further because there is another thread for this, but there is definitely a larger issue at work here than "number of pros".

What, TesteR failed again? Did he just get unlucky, or is he not that good after all?

You are correct sir ^^ I play Terran, and if I see a TvZ I don't support the Terran player because he plays the same race as me, but I notice a lot of protoss and zerg players in particular do. Not saying it's a bad thing, just don't get it. Because there are about 2x more T to cheer for then P and Z (before patch now they're at T level).

well this is the same argument that zerg had. but zerg is played only by 25 percent and protoss is the most played race with like 35? it's the whole population though so it does not mean much.
And it's kind of a circular argument because it is possible that this happens :
protoss perceived as underpowered -> less good players playing P because they want to win - > remaining protoss players seen as not good enough ( Protoss as a collective race underpowered)
I think Tester is too good not to have qualified for 2 GSL in a row especially considering how good his Terran play was in the invitational, that we can assume there is an issue with Protoss as a race.
Whether it is a balance issue or just people have not figured out Protoss yet, i dunno.

Um. Your argument is that ALL THOSE players who were protoss who didnt qualify were just.. bad... ?
Well, here's my argument. If they were zerg or terran, do you think they would have made it further?

This is actually what Zerg did when everyone agreed thay were UP. Shortly after, Zerg got buffed in 2 patches. Ofc I dont know anyone at Blizz and I dont want to make this a big discussion... It is just that I think it could give Blizz deep insight into pro-level gameplay which would help balancing the game with the upcomming patches

No idea why tbh, but I'd definitely say that outside of 5 or 6 really good toss players it's essentially a bunch of randoms and cannon fodder who aren't up to scratch. Idra said something once about it being easy to get good with toss, hard to be great. Could be something in that.
I don't hear any Pro-toss players actually complaining though. If anyone else has feel free to correct me.

dammit Tester! if Genius goes out then this gsl is a write off for us Protoss's!!!!

I dont root for every random Protoss either, and I am fan of some Zerg and Terran players. But I'm still hoping for one goddamn Protoss to do well and show how this race is to be played. If not for any better reasons then at least to learn something for your own games. And if you think that Terran fans are different in any way that's just because GSLs especially the first one have been flooded by Terrans, it's easy to be picky there. Sorry Motbob, I'm out
