New major sponsors or getting more sponsorship from the current sponsors could be scared away from using retarded or other insensitive words.
While it really doesn't bother me much, I wonder how I would feel if I had a family member or knew someone who actually was disabled in such a way.
It is time to think LARGE scale with MLG and being safe for sponsors/advertisers is the way to go.
One of the healers in my WoW guild had a child with Down syndrome. She was pretty damn offended by that word. I know JP didn't intend to offend, but I think a little self-censorship when you're on the air doing an official interview wouldn't be bad.

Though I couldn't care less what kind of language is used, it is slightly unprofessional. Imagine if he had said 'gay' instead. Seems really childish. Just a slip up, people need to relax.
