Also, if you're going to do an extended series - and thus putting so much focus on how many rounds are won - you should be playing all 3 games of every series, shouldn't you? I mean, imagine if Tyler lost 2-0 in their first series, but then in the low-pressure 3rd game (which he'd have map choice for, right?), he pulled something out? Coming into the extended series 1-2 is a lot different than coming in 0-2. It seems like the rules have been compromised a lot in order to expedite the tournament, which again, doesn't feel good for anyone. Speaking of which, I just think round robin group play works so much better than double elim. I know it's not practical to use for a tournament of this size, but when you're compromising and going with the double elim setup, you're going to have some drawbacks to deal with. I think the system as it stands is probably the fairest you can practically do, but it does have a lot of real problems that can't just be brushed aside. I just don't think they can be fixed as easily as many people are implying in here. | ||
