No, it sucks because it throws the entire brackets system under the bus. What if Bischu would have won the entire event? We'll never know now. He could have eliminated the person who'll win now or any other number of things could have happened.
This guy makes it through a massive bo1 tournament(over 500 people), through all the qualifiers(honestly, making him way more qualified to play than anyone invited, imo), and then should technically be advanced.... But he doesn't, because of "Time constraints."
Bullshit. I'll watch dream-hack for cool games between good players. But I'll never think of it as a legitimate professional tournament, and will not ever consider results to be any sort of indication of which player is better.

Especially when those "time constraints" are pretty much bs, how many games have been going on during the last 3-4 hours? Just a handful is the answer, biscuit was crying for games to cast for a while and now sweet fanny adams is going on. It's better to play a tie-breaker without an audience than to flip a damn coin, and it's not like the coin-flipping was broadcasted anyway!

So what if you just ignore all that have happened before the ro16 and just look as it tournament with 16 of the best players around? Would that be a legitimate tournament?

obviously your main gripe seems to be the fact that it's single elimination, so yes, it's pretty much the same in that regard
also i think it's the teams flying people in rather than dreamhack (listening to the last StoG podcast they talked about the EG situation and about the team buying idras ticket and not having enough left to send over machine or something)

2 Times GSL (RO64 and RO32) 5th Place at MLG Dallas - being highest ranked Zerg.
Now how many other german players have similar accomplishments? Socke got 3rd at Raleigh, which is pretty good too but compared to dallas, raleigh was a lot smaller and easier event.
I am really getting fed up with the german community - its probably the most negative and thrashing in the world... and that doesn't just relate to TLO. The amount of thrasing going on on readmore.de and fragster towards lots of the pro players is incredibly disrespectful, be it Jinro (before he won MLG), Haypro, Dimaga, White-Ra or even Boxer...

No one ever saw Dreamhack as a top professional event, cuz they pretty much screw every tournament ever in every game. Every time there are some fuck up, like schedual fail, or missing information or power failures / crashes etc.
This is nothing new to Swedes at least.

I have to agree. But it seems like every big tournaments at the moment have huge issues with rules (being completely stupid). MLG : extended series, old maps etc. GSL : No map vetos anymore. DreamHack : Coinflip.

They should have done a 1v1v1 free for all.
I may suggest this to the event organisers.

Well he had to either win 2-0 out of that three-way-tie group like: (Imagine Bishu as player A) A>B A>C or win against the one that lost vs the one who won 2 games. Like: B>A B>C A>C He had his fair shot of qualifying. But didnt. They tied up to begin with in the 4 player group. They played a three-way-tie and none of the players was able to take a 2-0 win. They had no time to play any further matches (This is perfectly clear in the rules, and they all accepted them). So then a coinflip occurs. He was in no way more entitled to proceed from the group than anyone else

i only want the format with the most games, lol BO55 quadruple elimination for all i care... im just saying the "so and so do it this way so it must be right" isn't true for every tournament.

I see many of you don't know how tournaments with group stages work.
I can rant on and on about the OSL and MSL, but to save time I'll use the World Cup as an example.
Only problem with that example is the round of 16 and onward is a Bo1. :o
Stop reading so much into one tournament.
