For starters he has a habit of making grunting/sighing noises on the mic for no reason. It's not laughter it's just audible utterances that really sound awkward and unprofessional, sometimes it's all he does for 10-15 seconds straight. I think if he consciously tried to stop doing that it would be a benefit to his casting.

Second he has a horrible habit of mumbling his way out of what he is saying. Rather than say what he wants to say and stopping, he will continue talking until it turns into an incomprehensible mumble, usually ending in the aforementioned grunting sigh thing. It's one of the most basic principles of casting that your speech is clear and direct.

He'll have a funny line or something meaningful to say, but then he kind of ruins it by not just stopping at that. Obviously taking some time to learn unit names and being able to refer to things as what they are in the heat of combat rather than this guy and that thing is another thing he should work on.

That said I like the guy, he doesn't deserve hate. He has a good voice and he can be a valuable asset to a more knowledgeable caster, but he has formed bad general speaking habits that he should really practice to get rid of.

I like his commentary tho, he is always on spot and he doesn't try and go for pindaric predictions, thus making him very solid at play-by-play.

GSL was an Open tournament with 2000 players where what WE saw was after 5 rounds of preliminaries. NY ESL is invitational with only 8 players. So you don't get the new up and comers.
But you forget that there was some very bad play in the GSL. It was just overshadowed because there were so many good epic games.
