There are so many free ways to host the videos that paying for bandwidth is a moot point, they could just slap the videos up on youtube and it would barely cost them anything (they could even have tasteless/artosis do it after they are done streaming, doesn't take long at all).
And sure they might have to pay a bit to setup and get the english commentary but blizzard has been talking about wanting to build up a huge e-sports community so then why make the first major tournament a pay for view for people that are willing to chip out 20$ just for watching a few sc games.
Personally I am only interested in seeing the international players and with Idra out I currently only want to watch TLO, so won't bother paying for that. Luckily some people will keep uploading it on other sites so it is possible to watch the games.

Hate it when the worse player wins for w/e reason, and I don't mean to diss Lotze, he is very good, but I really got the feeling that Idra played a stronger game throughout.
Wow your posts made me rage hard :/
Hate it when retards post for w/e reason, and I don't meant to diss you, you are obviously smart but I really got a feeling that overall you're just hit on the head.

They would get many thousands of views per game on Youtube, and grow their audience significantly. Advertising money is absolutely the way to go.
There's a reason why the NFL, NBA, professional bowling, and every other sport in the world doesn't charge subscribers to watch, and instead relies on advertising money... because that's how to increase popularity and get more and more viewers. MMA is pay per view as well. UFC video archives are 60 dollars for half a year of HQ videos.

"I feel like IdrA plays not to lose instead of going for wins. There was one match in the IEM Cologne where he went surprisingly agressive against Tarson and totally roflstomped him. He needs to do more of that. It wouldn't need to be every game but doing it here and there would force opponents to consider the possibility. The thing that made Michael Jordan so dangerous was that he could drive the ball OR shoot from range AND had a great fade away. No matter how you defended him, he could still beat you. IdrA has the reputation of being a one trick pony. "
I totally agree, real champs play like their lives is on the line, it's do or die. Idra's known for his raging QQ, his personality shows he likes to control the game/the pace, he's got a big ego because he thinks he is a super mastermind. Even artosis and tasteless said on broadcast that Idra talks sc2 non-stop, it shows he likes to be a strategist. People relying too much on controlling issues (like strategist) forget that in any highly competitive event where both players are equally skills, it's the one who take risks and succeed that will win.
That's why we say sometimes the best defense is best offense. Offense generates creativity and innovation. Idra relies way too much on macro, and thinks all he needs is to get ready for everything and own them late them with macro.
IMO the weakness of pure control freaks and strategists is lack of creativity, they are prepared for X and Y but fail to see that a certain "Z" exists. Champs playing aggressive, do or die attitude have this creative aspect adv and killer instinct to come up with such "Z" strategy.

Thanks for making my point with thank link :p. But yeah, I was referring to re-casts with serious analysis of the games, not the live-casting. Again thats not a criticism, Artosis/Tasteless are trying to make it more exciting to watch, they aren't trying to put on a clinic.
No they were actually very entertaining and pretty high level. (re: Idra's games) Entertaining, yes. High level? Sorry... no. A failed gate rush you've probably seen on ladder dozens of times, a proxy stargate leading to instant GG, and of course the now legendary epic-scout-fail. Idra didn't even look like the same player from IEM Cologne.

I don't know why people are so surprised Idra lost. He's a B-teamer in BW and it's crazy not to expect that there would be good Koreans waiting in the wings. Jaedong and Flash were no names once upon a time, too, and you never know if one of the Koreans in this tournament has the potential to be like them someday.

In other words, fantomex could probably beat Idra.
Sorry to see the Zergs fall but their time shall come. Pulling for TLO now. Let's go Dario!

If $20 is too much for you to spend, but you go buy beer or cigarettes, or fast food etc... Don't act like you care that much about GSL...
And therefore if you don't care that much about GSL, please don't troll around complaining about the cost of GSL.
idrA really needs to scout better... I'm left in shock that the 'arguably best' player could be so stiff, static, and stagnant. This is really his Achilles heel and not a weakness that's hard to exploit. After all, Sun Tzu said that all warfare is based on deceit.

I still can't believe that Artosis qualified.
