Not a single mainstream (read: good, active) BW player. Not that I'm very surprised (afterall they're all under contracts).

Still until/if those guys make the jump to SC2 I'll think we'll never hear the end of "If only players X, Y and Z played everyone would get raped".

Still funny though that some of the favourites in this tournament are old B-teamers that never really made it in BW now they might walk away with a price as large as winning about 8 OSL ^^

Okay that was a bit over the top =)

But it's about 2.5x as much money which is still quite much. But then again I'd say OSL/MSL are the only two e-sports tournaments that aren't definined by the prize pool.

GSL has prestige because the winner gets an absurd amount of money.
OSL has prestige cause its the goddamn OSL.

On a different note I do like open formats and all (especially now that player strength is quite hard to actually measure) but it feels they somehow could have organized the format as to not be as random as it seems to be (although I dont have any good ideas on how to do that).

Not really good for the either the players or the viewers if subpar players get into the RO64 while some good players got knocked out in the qualifier cause they had the misfortune of getting paired in a group with another good player.

GSL-whoevers can talk all he want about open philosophy but eventually there will be some sort of system where there number of truly open spots are limited.

That will be coming next with their classification system but you have to start somewhere. As for active bw pro you'll never see any as long as they're contracted by kespa.

Well still pretty sure a statistician for example could figure out a good way to make it as good as possible (might require to many games to be practical though).

And for the contract part I don't really know how the contracts are made between progamer-team-KeSPA and so on.

Still I'm surprised no teams felt they could spare 1-2 hopeless B-teamers to practice SC2 afterall its good publicity for them if they do good although I suspect it has alot to do with the whole Blizzard-KeSPA fight.

But then again CJ let Idra play SC2 on practice hours in beta so.

Hello, me again.

I'm sorry that I haven't been very active, but we are really busy down here at GomTV.
We have just finnished making brackets for RO64. I know many of you are very curious about it, but all I can say is that it will be confidential for now.

As for the opening match, I mentioned before that there will be 16 players playing. It seems I was misinformed. There will be 4 selected players from RO64, which means there will be 2 matches(3 games per match, the best two wins).

Well I guess another big question everyone has is "How the hell do we watch the games?!"
We will upload them on http://www.gomtv.net. It is NOT in Korean and you do NOT need to pay.

"What about commentaries?! Do we have to watch it listening to Korean jibberish?" Not to worry. Dan(Artosis) and Nick(Tasteless) are going to provide English commentaries.

If by any chance some of you already live in Korea or are planning to come to Korea this week. The opening match will be held at KBS 88 Stadium at 7pm KST on 4th of September. It's free and all the players that participated in the preliminaries will be given VIP seats and presents.

For further information do not hesitate to email me : junkka@gretech.com

Who will be commentating for the Koreans? Will it be OGN's 전용준 or 이현주?
