Idea for remaining players: set a cut off date, and look at global ladder (there WILL be a global ladder compiled by someone). Go down the list and invite players who aren't already invited. This way you can reward ladderers (something that rarely happens), and be very flexible with the number of your remaining slots. That is a great idea - great way to fill last few spots.
I would think something along the lines of rewarding people for after beta play, maybe a tourney, or just overall ladder standings, some of the people getting nominated are decent players, but being at the top of the ladder during beta P2 just doesn't seem to cut it in my opinion. Overall ladder with a cut off date isnt to bad because it will promote competition and allow for unknownish players to step there game up.

To be honest, I think there should be qualifying stages tho, and just a few people invited (I wouldn't even count myself as one of those), but as I'm invited.. I'm not complaining^^

Just a random thought I had, but you should do Bo5 or Bo7 for qualification matches if you aren't going to cast them anyway.

There are plenty of American/Europeans on that list. I suggest filling up the rest with Koreans since it will help connect the two SC2 scenes. There will be a lot more to gain for the players that way.

I recommend a tournament for the remaining slots, I want to feel like I have a chance at qualifying before I lose horribly to someone I never knew existed whose really good.
