I am so afraid that TLO will suffer a loss from the beast. I will tune in for sure.

Whitera defeated TheLittleOne before in the TLI and IdrA beat Whitera (sc1 though) in the WCG 2009... my bet is with IdrA taking the tournament

Same was said for TLO and Cauthon

If Whitera beats TLO, I hope Whitera or NonY wins the tourney

I'm curious if White-Ra and TLO will have to play it on US server :o

edit: I think I just got spoiled myself ... I see 5 games in White-Ra's match history vs TLO that were played yesterday. I thought these matches will be played tomorrow and you'll stream them like 1-2 hours after?
What for did we voted in this poll: "B) We can cast the games live with the players and record a continuous video file of the entire thing. Sometime shortly after we will Livestream this video file in its entirety. This is the best way to delay Livestream that we are aware of."?
I bet everyone was thinking about hours when you talked about "shortly after" or "delay", but it's 2 days instead ...
Anyway the "dnd" works in game, so now that the main reason for not streaming the games live is gone, why can't you stream the event live?

That update about WhiteRa vs TLO should be in a spoiler tag tbh. I just surfed in to watch the VODs of TLO vs. CauthonLuck but the result was spoiled the moment the page loaded

What apart from being good-willed would stop the players opening up the stream on their laptop and looking over and instantly knowing what the other play is doing. There is thousands of dollars on the line and I'm sure there would be a few players out there who couldn't resist some easy cash. I'm pretty sure this has all been said before.
Its a walk off!

That's really not the main reason at all. The lack of tape-delay is the main reason not to live broadcast a tournament where big money is on the line (or indeed any money). There is literally nothing stopping either player from loading up the livestream on a seperate computer, or even having a friend watch it and tell them on the phone what's going on.

While I appreciate everything Husky and HD have done to popularize SC2 and make a great tournament with a deep prize pool, some of these VODs are downright painful to listen to. Most of the commentary is very uninspired and is mostly a play-by-play. When they try to make more insightful commentary, they end up saying something completely nonsensical.

+ Show Spoiler +
In the first WhiteRa v Tasteless match, HD saw a citadel near the end of the match and suggested that Tasteless was transitioning to DTs. This was while WhiteRa had units pouring into his base and Tasteless was fighting for his life. With the amount of time a shrine would have taken to build and the fact he had about 10 probes left, the suggestion was facepalm worthy.

Please, please learn more about the game. Until then, stick to play-by-plays, because making insights that end up being completely wrong just makes you seem foolish.

Yes, it has all been said before. But this cyclone25 guy keeps on trolling (he just does not get it and sometimes even starts insulting and raging).

Same story again ... and I'll repeat it again because I know I'm 100% right on it, but for some reason some of you keep denying it. Reasons for players not to hack:

1) These are professional players, not some no-names. It's White-Ra, TLO, IdrA and Nony ffs. Telling me that any of these guys will open the stream and cheat is beyond my imagination.
2) These players have a great future and big plans for SC2 ahead. Will they risk to lose it all for 1500$?
3) 1500$ isn't a big prize at all ... can you understand that? It's simply not worth to waste your SC2 career for 1500$ (which again ... you're not guaranteed to win even with hacks).
4) All other tournaments so far have been streamed live and I don't remember any player to be suspected or caught hacking (maybe Moman ... just kidding!).
5) If they really want to cheat, there are undetectable map hacks available already ... much easier alternative.
6) They are not hacking experts. It's hard not to get suspicious to viewers, when you don't have experience with hacking. It's a lot of stress, you can't focus on your game etc etc.

I could think of more reasons but that's enough. I hope HDH considers it and will at least make the final live (and maybe the second semifinal too). Just imagine seeing Idra-Nony live rather than recorded 2 days later.

As I understand it, the main reason that the games are delayed are to best balance the schedules of the players and the viewers. Given that there are players in the tournament living in all three regions, I'm sure that being able to coordinate times to play amongst themselves rather than being forced to show up at the time that's best for a live viewing audience.

Furthermore, many of the streams so far have had major technical problems and delays. This is understandable given that this is HD and Husky's first major event, that they have a huge audience, that they had to move to a new platform midway through the tournament, etc. But these delays would be a lot worse if they were also disrupting the players. Even though I'm sure these technical problems weren't anticipated in advance and so weren't the reason for the decision, in retrospect we can certainly say thank goodness the games were delayed.

The one reason to have the games live is because that way, they're more exciting to watch. Personally I've found that they are still quite exciting to watch: to tie the two different threads of complaints together, I think this is because HD and Husky are stellar commentators. Yes, they are not as knowledgeable or insightful as some other casters, but frankly that's secondary. Play-by-play *is* the important part of casting, because it's how the caster is able to paint a picture and generate excitement among their listeners. It would be insanely difficult or impossible to do any real insightful commentary without pausing the game and looking at many places at once anyway.

In any case, super-knowledgeable fans are always dissatisfied with the expertise of the broadcasters, in almost every sport. I'm a huge baseball fan and I can't count the number of times Joe Buck, TimMcCarver, and Joe Morgan have said things that make my ears bleed. Even my favorite broadcaster of all time, Vin Scully, shines not because of his tremendous game knowledge (those approaching the game from a sabermetric perspective will find he emphasizes all the wrong statistics and plays into all sorts of old-school fallacies and superstitions) but because of his tremendous ability to narrate the game, tell anecdotes about the players, and generally give crisp play-by-play.

@cyclone
Maybe you can think of some other reason why they don't stream live:

1. All involved people may have a real-life besides SC2. If you additionally consider the timeshift from europe (White-Ra,TLO) to the us there is not much time left to do a life streaming over a best of 5 series of games.
2. These two commentators set the rules, because its their tournament and they want to reach a maximum amount of people watching their stuff and this only works if you can stream when the viewers have time to watch.

@HD and Husky:
Keep up the great work and I hope to hear you guuuyyys next time

Thank you for not listening to cyclones flawed arguments and not livestreaming until there is an actual delay function. This way we know that the games are cheatfree, and that is more important then watching live.

Great tournement btw, good job, allthough I do have some complaints/suggestions whatver you want to call it

I`m a bit disappointed by the streaming/coverage for this tournement. Vods come up late, stream is lagging so bad there is no point in watching, only to wait for 2-3 days for vods. Maybe im just demanding, but I think its too slow. As for spoiling 2 of your ro 8 matches on the mainpage, even written in red is in my opinion just silly. Would it really hurt to put a spoiler tag there?

Whinemode off, I love the commentaries, the players, the tournement and the great games that are being produced. The commentary is awesome, I really like listening to your guys vods
