I'm not too sure whether most people know of this or not but I'll just tell you guys. This is known since the beginning of WOL. Ok so how do you avoid certain players or more effectively dodge your previous opponent because you just don't like that matchup. For me I just hate PvP.

After your match, add your opponent to your Friend list. If he is not in game you can see the green small circle beside his name. If he is already in game, you can see the SC2 icon beside his name. Just remove him from Friend list after he entered his game and proceed to search.

It also works in team games. It just suck when you are playing alone and keep matching up against a full 4 Arrange team players. So after game just add one of them and wait till he enters a game.

Why is this useful you may ask? Because Bnet can match you against the same opponent like 5 times in a row.

The downside is your opponent may not even be searching for games, which may be wasting your time waiting for him. But more often you will get to avoid him.

Remove this if its being discussed before. Cheers.

Im not too sure on this but it doesnt make a difference. If he watching replay go ahead and searching while leaving your Friend list on, cancel if hes not in game.

Nice. Yeah, sometimes you just don't want to get assraped again by the same person after you just lost to him twice or thrice in a row.

I had taken to just going to take a leak or something, but this works even better!

Honestly, if there is a player that i REALLY dont want to play against, like say a tvp where the protoss pylon blocked my natural, then proxy DT rushed me, off of 1 base or something annoyingly dumb then sure. But if I get my ass handed to me I want to play against that player as many times as possible, why do you think players like demuslim or qxc queue into players like byunprime or bomber 16 times in a row, even if they lose all 16. Not every game on ladder do you get to play against someone much better than you, I would like to seize those opportunities, personally.

Frankly, I'm hungry for vengeance after losing...

I guess it matters more when you actually care about your ladder rank.

I second this, furthermore it is the oppurtunity to practice for longer series in which SC2 becomes way funnier, you can start to mind game and so on.

Yeah i know a lot of teams on EU server that use this technique to dodge good players in order to have a better winrate...

Its a great tool, when not ABUSED!

Usually when I lose to someone I want a rematch. Just me?

In 2s I can see this being a lot more useful.. when I 2s I'm just trying to dick around and make Tempests and the same team ling allins / cheeses like 4 games in a row and we keep getting queued up against them.... grrr so angry :D

I don't mind a rematch but if i'm losing more than a couple games in a row to someone i start to get pretty off it.

No it isn't. It's one mentality to have sure, and if you want to make a living playing starcraft it's probably helpful.

I would still hope that the majority of starcraft players continue to play because they find it fun. If they don't like losing 5+ games in a row to the same person that's perfectly understandable.

I would love to have a boX series ladder mode.
I played against a diamond toss back when I was a plat zerg.
I lost twice to blink stalker all in and in the third game, I scouted the twilight and just assumed he would do the same and so I went for the mass ling infestor counter build.
turns out he was doing a chargelot archon all in and I got crushed.

I loved how many mind games there is once it is more than just a bo1

People like to win. But avoiding good players to do this, your wins feel hollow, easy, cheap and unrewarding. If you are losing to the same player 5 times over, then you should probably learn to change up your strategy, cheese, or perhaps stop playing to watch your replay and figure out exactly what it is you're doing wrong? Either that or find out that the guy was a former GM and that his mechanics and micro are way beyond you.

In all the above scenarios you should keep playing this person. It should motivate you to push yourself and perhaps play a bit faster, micro better, hotkey better or something. Always good to get demolished over and over by a superior player... keeps you humble and forces you to look to improve your game somewhere.

But sure if you just want some easy cushy ladder wins to boost your ego.. well.. thats asking for trouble.

One more thing... as for cheesy players... perhaps scouting and playing safe is your lesson? Lesson of lower leagues (generally speaking) Expect cheese into cheese into weird shit. Never expect standard.

One more thing: The game is FUN essentially. But a lot of times it is competitive. And if you just want to dick around in gold league sure.. you do that and have 'fun'. But get up into diamond or masters, it's hard, it's challenging, and can be frustrating, sooo... MOST people I feel are competitive and want to improve. So 'fun' kinda has to leave the party sometimes.

If you are assuming that most people are in diamond or masters and actively train to be better at starcraft, you couldn't be more wrong. So please don't make baseless presumptions about what other people find enjoyable.

This thread is about a way to avoid playing the same person(s) over and over on the ladder, which is a problem at times, especially in team games. If you don't want to avoid that, why are you posting here? No one is saying that you should stop trying to improve, so why are you telling others to try harder if they don't want to?

I understand your point perfectly however we see the notion of fun in a different way. To me, "fun" means always learning something new or perfecting some aspect of the game; i consider that i had fun if at the end of the match i can place a checkmark next to what i was looking to improve. I dont care if i lose 20 times in a row, they were just 20 great opportunities to play better people. Thats fun as well as valuable.

It's easier to run into the same people at higher leagues as there's less people with the same MMR because there's less people in your league. They're not ignoring the fact that it can happen in lower leagues, just that it's more probable.

I'm not making baseless presumptions and ordering people to play a certain way like you make it out. In my experiences on ladder, watching streams, navigating forums and interacting with the community I've come across ALOT of competitive people so that is my OPINION.. not a be all and end all fact that I shove down your throat to be true.

But yes I've gone off tangent, I subscribe to being someone who likes to improve and also just have fun and blow shit up. (I play Terran).

But sure who wants the stress of a difficult player over and over when all you want to do is play an evenly skilled match with someone? So sure, add them, wait for them to get in game, then queue up.

OP's advice is actually very useful for team games when you play vs the same AT a few times in a row.

Those 4v4 ATs that do zergling rushes every single game....so annoying to play against especially with the retarded 4v4 maps. I'll keep this in mind
