So, I've been attempting the day9 funday monday with terran- record of 20 minutes. (WAY too many CC's placed...)- I was wondering if anyone had any tips, or things they found useful? I'm considering just slow pushing with PF's.

I'm fine till the 8 minute mark, where most people decide it's time to push, at which point I get eaten alive. My money's also always really high, as I'm struggling with macroing and keeping it low, while having 400 at the 4, 8, etc mark.

Thoughts?

(Going to try bioballing next.... should of done that a long time ago...)

Dumb question - this week's funday monday is to expand every 4 minutes? I don't think Terran is the smartest choice for this...

edit: I see, it is. Well you should definitely go bio at first because it doesn't cost much gas, so you can focus on saturating your minerals at each new base, then just cut a few MM when it's time to expand again.

I really don't see how this is going to work in TvZ, though.

Wouldn't it make more sense to go gas heavy, if we're going to be throwing 400 minerals at expansions every 4 minutes?

Lol fast expanding terran XD means less production buildings... might as well build units that count like the battlecruiser and go 111 or do the thor drop rush as you'll gonna be making loads of scv that can repair... so gonna try this XD

Depends on what your intentions are. If you really want to win, PF pushing seems reasonable. However, Day[9] wont feature that strat on his show, it is way too passive.

pushing forward with PF =/= Expanding. you have to actually take an expansion.

Has anyone had any luck producing interesting games as this? I'm trying as zerg, which might be the issue, but it just seems like the games end up more or less standard with me slightly behind due to over-expanding and my opponent more able to play tech/econ styles due to the reduced aggression. It hasn't been something that's allowed or caused me to go down weird paths or do kooky things even when I'm actively trying to.

Note that taking an expansion with T doesn´t always mean building a cc, you can also lift your existing OC´s.

Something that would be a nice clarification- as terran, can I build a defensive PF? eg, at my choke in LT.

It's virtually impossible to fast tech. My attempts have all transitioned into losing my whole $%^& base. Most interesting game is where I lost my whole base, ALMOST recovered- but having to plant 2 CC's killed me. Argh!


I wish I could get a game on Shakuras .....

I've been doing it and gotten all my expansions on LT easily as protoss, helps I haven't played anyone above 1k diamond yet but...

I find that gas intensive units are defiantly the way to go, with expanding every 4 minutes there is rarely enough time to saturate your mineral lines, only need 6 to saturate your gasses... Vs Z I've been HT/archon spamming, vs T spamming dts, vs P going well, I had phoenixes voidrays, mass gateway, and immortals so... everything but colossus...

We tried doing this in a 3v3 last night for kicks and one game lasted 32 minutes. It was pretty brutal. We are PPZvZZT. Two of us are diamon palyers and one bronze. At the 8 min mark our poor bronze teamate had made no units and was strugglign to macro and get a 2nd expo when both his expo's got ravaged and then his main. I was playing zerg and struggling ab it with massive gas surplus once I was on three bases thanks to making piles of zerglings and drones early on to defend while throwing down a third hatch w/o teching. I eventually got lair and a massive pile of mutas while my protoss partner did arguably the most ignorant cannon rushing ever. He probably built about 80-100 cannons approaching their mutual chokes and into their base. This got me a lot of time to start fielding an army with my 5 bases finally and tech up some. But I think they got sly to our plan. At about 20, a SWARM of siege tanks, vikings, corruptors, and broodlords came to meet us, with a small bioball hunting expo's. It was gg 10 minutes later. They advanced on the cannon wall with the ball of vikings and corruptors defending the tank/BL siege. Was a fun exercise though lol

if i were you i would put an expo up at their natural, then PF it...would buy some time to get the SCVs going and the third expo up probably...

and by then maybe some tech...

im planning on trying this tonight, and I think getting very early siege tanks to defend your expo is the way to go. Make the third expo into a PF and put some turrets down, its nigh impossible to kill so early, and your main and natural will be defended. You should be able to outmacro your opponent if you can beat their timing push, and from there you can just win
