Yeah well done every single mapmaper out there and every mapmakingteam
you are the reason why the game is still alive from the BW days, without mapmakers spending so much time learning and perfecting the maps with the metagame. The game would never become as epic as it became BW that is.
Competative gaming was born in 1998 and you guys raised it. And sc2 ppl (the lame ones) are the relatives who are fighting over who gets what from the will. BW dead (when kespa transfered in that sense)

Please note it is a competition to give "amateur" mappers to get their maps tested, so it's not a "crazy" map competition per se. Also, it's a "guideline" so that people who are starting out can have an idea, and it's not a strict restriction. IF you have a great reason behind the custom mineral arrangement, the map will still be considered. However, maps that have custom mineral amounts but are not well-thought through will have a disadvantage. eg. Icarus

Is there some received wisdom as to why that 2gold 4blue back door set up was not well thought out? I'm just curious.

He meant it the other way around tho, that the 2g4b is a nice and interesting set up not a bad one.
Dammit, now I actually have to open up the map editor and try to design something new. Although, knowing me, I'll attempt to design something new for ~10minutes, get annoyed, close the editor, open it back up ~3 days before deadline, modify an existing map...
Haha, this should be fun! Good luck all.

I guess you can as long as it wasn't used anywhere, but it's boring . May be you oculd change it up a little bit before you submit it then.

Quite frankly, I understand that it could be boring, but considering that if they didn't win, it didn't get attention, I'm inclined to submit my old maps. I feel that they're good enough competitions but just didn't manage to win in the past. If I get a chance, I will look into improving them or making new maps though.

Work on the third one. Perhaps a bit on the aesthetics (which are good but hard to differentiate height) and some general proportion work. I like that one.
Really great to see Crux reaching out to the global community to produce new maps. I'm on holidays right now so my submissions will have to wait until the second half of August.

The prize for 2nd through 7th is "Will be used to play in PlayXP GongSL Master, Grand Master League". Isn't Korean GMs playing your map pretty cool? If that's what that is...
Does anyone know anything about these leagues? I couldn't find any English information on them. Players? Prizepool? Will any portion of them be broadcast? Will the replays be available anywhere?
@Dapper_Cad: Yeah, one of the main thing about this tournament is that afterwards you can get KR Master/GM Replays on your maps as well as constructive feedback. I don't think there will be any English information on this though, because it's such a small league.

That strikes me as pretty awesome.
I don't want to be a pedant or overly demanding but, how will foreign map makers access the replays and feedback? Will you post links to the replays here? Will the feedback be posted here or elsewhere? Will the feedback in English or will the TL community need to rustle up some translators? Will the feedback be from players or Crux's mappers?
I don't mean to harangue you, I just enjoy reading expert map analysis and would love watching aspiring Korean pros play on new maps.

Same, worker seconds (in game time).
Also guys, a description will bolster your claim of using different features.

That's gonna be a top map for sure. I like the complex pathing, and I particularly like the watchtower placement, its vision range covers a very precisely controlled area, offering complete vision over certain paths but nothing more. Nice one.

I'd wanna play some games on it, personally. My gut feeling right now is that the early game will be awesome, but then the design degrades into frustration come mid/late game. As a Terran, I'm looking particularly at the third base options; either the gold or the back door. A terran sitting on that high ground pod has easy access to both drop/siege the gold and walk right down to the back door.
I also think taking that back door for a third will have some Blistering Sands syndrome, where the attacker can move around in mid to hit either the nat or backdoor, while the defender has to take an extended trip through the main and its tight chokes to get from one side to the other.
Basically, I think defensive positioning beyond early game is going to be a nightmare.

I am going to have to agree with Caustic, but even say that the early game will be tricky. Early to mid game on this map vs Terran just seems like a nightmare, as drops and hellions will have serious mobility. At the same time, Protoss can't really utilize blink to get around and Zerg will have a tough time spreading creep. As a result, I think the best thirds is not the back door, but rather the golds. They are a lot more centered and easier to control positioning wise than the backdoor.
On second examining, it is pretty rough how you have to go to the dead center of the map or all the way to the back in order to go from one base to another, if it were my map some big changes would happen in that regard. Will probably still make top 7 though, depending on who submits what.

So the platform tileset makes maps into Nimbus now, that's interesting.

First one is really far from being nimbus... It has chokes and islands.
I mean the tileset. Highground is the same just with the orange decals in the middle, and lowground has metallic roads. Anyway its not the end of the world , looking forward for the top7
