I think it's mostly publicity. They want their name to be known more (IIRC, they already support e-sports in general?) in Europe etc. If you watch all the vods you can hear "Razer" so many times it's not funny lol. Basically this is going to get them more customers just for being the sponsor. Just look in the general section for a thread where people said they'll buy more razer gear etc.

Yeah i think it can pay out very well for razer. They are supporting esport everywhere and if they continue doing that, there is a high possibilty that gaming mice are direclty associated with razer, and thats what every company wants.
Like if you think of a soft drink you will probably think of coca cola, that kind of association is big.

i've been using a razer mouse (copperhead) for about 6 months and it's awesome. i might upgrade my mousepad to a razer one, but when i get a new mouse it's definitely gonna be a razer

for instance, with players, i didnt know who the fuck BRAT was. but because he was one of few terrans to advance into the TSL, and for his play against strong players, he became recognized.

sponsors can capitalize on that the same way

For a lot of people- specially in the gaming industry- attitude matters a lot with sales. I know a lot of gamers who refuse to buy from certain stores, companies, or even entire genres because of one betrayal. Hell, I'm one of them. The reverse is also true. If you treat us good we will love you to death, buy all your products, talk about your unceasingly. Jerk us around and your dead to us. Razer gets their name out, and probably gains a large amount of loyal customers.
