Imo I'm looking forward to the 13Asia invites the most as it'll give us a chance to see how Korea fairs against the rest of the world. Sure we know that foreigners have had mixed success in the GSL, but it's only been a small half-dozen at most and even top foreign players.

This will finally give us a chance to see how a formidable group of koreans fairs against an equally formidable group of foreigners, as compared to a few koreans with a TON of foreigners and vice-versa.

I am liking the ever increasing prize pools we are seeing. Bodes well for E-sport development outside of Korea.

at first i thought "WOOTz - 34.500 $ prize pool" - but if you have a minimum amount of prize money (lets say at 5000+, people can't really play better if more money is involvded)

then i thought "WOOTz" all the koreans participating i kinda cool until i realized im not sure that the koreans/asians can really play at 100% because of the lag US<>EU<>KR<>US (i experienced this 1st hand when casting the games of the kaspersky new years invitational. MC vs TOP for example)

so im going with the tyler video - even tho its only my 3rd choice - its still the one i've choosen and its awesome

gj on that

I loved all of these announcement, but I've gotta be honest, that teaser trailer was pretty fucking epic. It really got me excited, and everything else was the icing on the cake.

Mondragon hands down.
That guy was arguably the best bw foreigner before Idra spent some time in Korea and seeing him disappear from sc2 after a while was pretty sad.
Now that he comes back, I can't wait to watch his games. Very excited about this.

It's probably the prizepool, but I'm gonna go with Tyler sketch because it's cooler than money. =P

I'm not too happy at all about Korean "invites" really. I can see how it adds quality to the tournament, but I'll be sad if one of them ends up winning it. Unless it's Nada somehow. =D

Mondragon is BACK!
I'm hyped for those invites though.
They're a neat aspect.

Do people not realize Mondragon's reputation lol, we've been waiting for almost a year for him to announce playing SC2.

I'll be honest, I hope he kicks some serious ass.

When I opened up TL at like 3 AM on New Year's day and the video (in HD) popped up, I almost jizzed in my pants. But for me, it was the $34k prize pool that got me real hard.

Seriously, the lag issues for KR players could turn out to be a huge issue...Cant have such a big tourney without addressing this issue...maybe alternate games between servers?

I don't think the skill gap is as wide as some people think. Koreans pros just seem to have better ability to handle themselves under pressure and i guess that comes down to a LOT of practice against very good players. I'm quite optimistic for the non-koreans unless like all 16 qualifiers get in by cheesing.

I like this "world vs korea" 1st face-off environment that's getting generated. I think the skill gap is manageable, and players laddering in korea have great chances against korean players. This is going to be a TENSE tournament! :D

I'd love to see 3 casters: Day9, Tasteless, Artosis, that'd be one hell of a casting team.

The option wasnt there, but the qualification process is what makes this tournament exciting I think! I hate tournaments where everyone is invited, I love tournaments where I know people worked to get their spot, even it it means "lesser" players make it through.

But that's just my opinion

That's how all the TSL's have been. Personally finally seeing a big tournament where a large number of foreigners can play against Korean's is extremely exciting!

Mondragon of course.

Money is great, but actually 34500$ for SC2 is not as impressive as the 23000$ for BW (tsl2).

Tyler's teaser is nice, but can't compare it with the comeback of the Zerg foreign legend that Mondi is.

13 Korea invites could become the most exciting if Boxer is invited. TL sending an invite to Boxer, wow that must be the wildest dream of any TL staff, and it could become true right now.

The intro music you guys use makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I still visit the TSL2 thread so I can watch/listen to the teaser.

I wish someone would tell me where I can DL the songs used in each of the teaser trailers.

Tyler of course. I just love that essentially the entire graphic of the trailer for this huge event is only Tyler. Like he is some incarnation of Teamliquid Starleague itself.

When I first saw the trailer I got really pumped that it would be another BW event, but whatever, TL always produces events at top quality, so I know this will be a must see.

Man, Tyler better go to the finals after a teaser like that.

I am super excited about the invites, but I voted for the money, since I feel like that kind of legitimizes the tournament enough to get top koreans to show up and play all-out for.

When ToT died, mondi seemed very open towards sc2 in his goodbye message, so it doesn't really surprise that he is back.

I'm gonna say the Korean invites, since this may be the first and last time that happens.

Mondragon returns! Too many new sc2 folks skew the poll :/

I liked the portrait guy's blogs, so it's cool to see his work being used for TSL3.

That said, Mondragon.

Depends on which koreans they invite.. personally I picked the korea thing, as seeing Nada, MC and the like crush nuwbs makes my keyboard wet. Also I think it helps making the tournement really legit.
Price pool doesn't really matter imho. Ofcourse the bigger pricepool, the more is "on the line", but I believe they coulda had half the pricepool, and spend it on like quality streaming, maybe some live audience etc (not saying the streaming wont be good, just speaking out of experience). Simply put, I'm more entertained by seeing great games, than hearing about a huge pricepool

13 Asian invites imo. The prize pool is awesome for the players of course, but even TSL2's prize pool would easily have been enough to draw all the best players. The only thing that stopped TSL1 and 2 from being the most awesome tournament ever in my eyes was that it was basically a tournament for the mediocre players to win something. Now we'll really have the best of the best worldwide competing.

I hate to be the only negative person in this thread, but to me none of those really matter. The thing that got me most excited about the announcement of TSL3 was the announcement itself. I'm just looking forward to great games and the best of commentary the foreign community can provide.

It was a toss up between Mondragon returning and the teaser video (which is always very well done). I picked the teaser because it sticks out like a sore thumb. Glider never fails to impress (picture perfect) and the music sold me right away. I knew the prize pool would be bigger than the last one, so its not that much of a surprise, but Tyler's mugshot is just too good.

With that said, Mondragon's dominance over the foreigner scene is something unparalleled. He has been at the top longer than anybody else. He is a God amongst men.

3100 rating is solid. But Mondragon is one of those players with infinite potential. He also has connections with some of the best SC2 players at the moment (off the top of my head - Ret and Haypro). If he takes advantage of his resources, I have no doubt that he will be a serious contender.

Prize pools don't make for exciting tournament *cough* GSL *cough*... And Tyler won $10k for TSL2 anyway, so it's not that much of a difference. What makes me excited about it is that it's a tournament organised by TL.

Any chance of Chill casting?

Yeah. I think for that reason there is no way that it will not be THE premier SCII tournament organized outside SK.

The money was expected. The 13 Asia invites are pretty cool, and Mondragon making a return is awesome.

But seriously, how is the teaser not winning? It's so awesome, and we get it directly! None of us (probably) will be getting the prize, be Mondragon, or be an Asia invitee....

Mondragon... Seriously the only reason he is even behind atm is because of all the new SC2 people not even knowing him.

I have to agree with this. Personally, I felt TSL was special because it was a foreign-only tournament. Koreans have an ample opportunity to compete in GSL... I feel it's kinda lame to invite some to TSL, no matter how big their name is.

Stanley Hudson said it best.

Michael: How can I get you to stay?
Stanley: Money.
Michael: Yeah we all want money. But there is none in the budget, so... Tell me why you're really leaving.

Most exciting?

TSL_Rain not being S-Rank.

Most disappointing?

FruitDealer changing his game style and failing miserably because of his coach.

I guarantee that's his coaches doing. I have yet to see overlord drop being used.

I wish the trailer including the other two.

However if I can only have 3 wishes, I wish to have a million dollars, beat July and RainBOw in a 2v1 and have 3 more wishes.

It would be extremely exciting if he brought back ToT) too haha I saw a few of his games from ESL and he incorporated such a strong sc1 style in his openings and playstyle, it was beautiful to see haha don't really see any players do that. Wish him the best of luck

That guy was arguably the best bw foreigner before Idra spent some time in Korea and seeing him disappear from sc2 after a while was pretty sad.
Now that he comes back, I can't wait to watch his games. Very excited about this.

I always felt like Mondragon was more skilled than Idra even after Idra spent time in Korea. I think Mondragon has the most raw talent of any foreigner ever. And those incredibly long fingers help, too.

Weren't Testie and Mondragon pretty much the best 2v2ers outside Korea in BW some 3-4 years ago... I vaguely recall actually cheering for Testie. Thats before he ran away to HoN, that is....
