wishful thinking that any of the old sc1 pros will take this, they simply aren't on par with the newer players (yeah I know there are exceptions). I am rooting for IdrA, tester or fruit.

Hoping foreigners and old heroes do well, but I expect it to look a bit similar.

I'm still rooting for Idra, Artosis, and TLO / TLAF, but I think Fruit has a great shot. It's going to be interesting to see which of the old pros / SC1 B-teamers make the Ro64.

Edit: Also I'd like to see a P in the finals this time. Aiur fighting!

It's gotta be an old pro. I hear all this talk lately about how the old pro's won't cut it. Ha. You have no idea the carnage someone like Nada is going to unleash. You think Terran is too strong now? He's going to crush fruit, eat rainbows(be they double or not), and ace the tests. In short; Nada will destroy everyone in the GSL2.

Will Idra even be in the next one? I thought the qualifiers were coming soon and would clash with him going to the US for MLG DC.

Some Korean guy from GSL1!!

I don't think Cool will crush again as in season 1, his style will be figured out 'til then.

I'm pretty sure that some old pro will win this.
i doubt it would be boxer though. but anyways, since two SC:BW pros were in the finals the first time, and this time even more and better pros will participate, i'm pretty safe with my bet.

they just know too much about how to train and are way too experienced (i doubt any of those would get nervous at all) and....
everyone is going to be so damn happy to play and train with them, they can practically chose their trainpartners or teams

it'll be quite the accomplishment if fruit manages to retain the title. if he can navigate himself to the quaters, i'll give him good odds to take the whole thing. nada, july and boxer i'm not too sure about. yes they have alot of games under their belt but we just dont know enough about them in sc2. my predo? tester vs fruit in the final with fruit taking it 4-3.

A third of the voters believe that the BW legends will win the whole thing. I call it now that Nada/July/Boxer if indeed participate won't make it to the semifinals. Let's see who's right. My other bet is foreigner in Ro16 this time. I don't agree that the chances of foreigners are now lower than in GSL1. Yes, better Koreans will participate, but more foreigners will participate too, and they will also be better adapted this time (with accommodation, the Korean server styles of play, rules etc). I still think that most certainly a Korean player will be the champ, but not necessarily one of the biggest favorites.

boxer's dropship play against IdrA on the ladder was nothing short of amazing. I would love for him to claim a GSL, however, in all probability, either the GSL1 koreans, or "someone new" will win. However, I would be absolutely ecstatic if a foreigner won.

There are still 14% people believing that foreigners can do something.

Thing is, situation may seem desperate for foreigners right now, but people should stop worrying because it will get much worse.

I think the few A-teamers who converted like (P)IrOn and (T)MVP will be very promising in GSL2. I'm especially looking at MVP since he seems to be the best bw player who has converted to sc2 so far.

Right now an sc1 pro is going to take it down. Game is still too new for a whole bunch of new players to outmatch pro mechanics with better understanding of the game. Maybe GSL 4 or 5 a new guy will take it.

I vote for new blood.

The only BW player recently switching who I think has a shot is NaDa, From what I've seen from BoxeR and July they aren't quite where they need to be yet in SC2. NaDa was very impressive in the TLO showmatch with very very little practice relative to how long TLO had been playing for. I haven't seen MVP play but he's only at about a 56% win percentage on the ladder. I won't completely rule any of them out though as a lot of time has passed and they're putting in the practice time, but I think we may be surprised who can go to toe to toe with them.

My picks for GSL S1 players are Fruitdealer, Tester, Inca or Ensnare.

My outsider Pick is oGsTheStC. This guy is damn good from what I've seen. I'm pretty sure he lost to a teammate in qualifiers in Season 1. Don't quote me on that though.

Of course my fanboyism tells me to pick TeamLiquid Crew, IdrA and Artosis but it's going to be even tougher this time through. Hopefully the practice in the oGs-TL house really pays off for them. Really want to see some foreigners go deep in Season 2.

Wow, I'm shocked so many think that the old Korean pros are going to do well. I mean...BoxeR, NaDa, and July couldn't compete weren't significantly better than the likes of Tester at BW towards the end of their careers, and Tester has a huge leg up on them at SC2.

BW skill does translate, but we have to remember that these guys aren't exactly elite of the elite BW players anymore. If they were, I doubt they'd be picking up SC2

I think many are voting for ones they want to win rather than the ones they think will win.

Way too many votes for BW pro. Yes, we know, the Korean BW players are awesome. However, be real for a second and you will probably arrive at the conclusion they have no chance to win something in 2010.

Tester strangely kinda fell apart against Rainbow. If he doesn't do that again, I think he takes the tournament. I also think the BW pros won't do quite as well as people are expecting in GSL 2. I think the ex-BW guys like Nada and Boxer will be scariest in GSL 3.

No one is mentioning the extreme beating ITR gave Tester either, and he is definitely more washed up than any of those three.

Also, is Huk entering?

I think the favorites from the first one (Cool, Tester, Clide, and Rainbow) will still be the favorites here, I think that the ones that lost generally had pretty bad losses but their best games were just the most impressive that I saw and until someone outshines that it's all them.

34% of polled are delusional.

15% of polled are insane.

I think the chances of fruitdealer winning 2 GSL's in a row to be slim, but definately possible. I don't think that the sc1 pros are going to be good as many people think(until they have more time to play the game). I expect a sc2 korean pro to take this. I'm thinking a protoss this time

Well... if he's participating, (T)MVP. He was doing so well in SC:BW, a great, up and coming player, and if he's had the chance to practice enough, he'll take the gold.

Wow, I'm shocked so many think that the old Korean pros are going to do well. I mean...BoxeR, NaDa, and July couldn't compete with the likes of Tester at BW towards the end of their careers, and Tester has a huge leg up on them at SC2.

BW skill does translate, but we have to remember that these guys aren't exactly elite of the elite BW players anymore. If they were, I doubt they'd be picking up SC2

when could tester ever handle any of those three players in brood war

When he was playing in the Batoo OSL, July was also a qualifier but both BoxeR and NaDa were well into their benchwarming days. "Couldn't compete" is way too strong though, upon further consideration.

Technically Cool, Tester, Rainbow, and many others fall under the Old SC1 Pro category Thus, it is the correct answer!

More than likely one of the old pros that have switched over. Lets face it, they rose above the rest. Pretty much it was the older pros that didnt cut it anymore that did well in GSL1, now that the pros that were highly ranked in BW switched it will be their turn. They will rise to the top again.

Remember torch? Maybe some foreigner will storm in there (again) completely unannounced to us and just go straight to semis. But in all honesty I think some old B+ teamers will probably switch over and stomp the competition.

if HuK enters he will def make the qualifiers. But keeping it real I voted for GSL1 Korean.

The real winner is Tasteless for getting his career really moving.

TheLittleOne or Fruitseller i hope

good chances always have Tester/InCa/IntotheRainbow

SC1 pros like july/zergbong aren't on that level yet. I saw some replays of july and it wasn't really that good and zergbong kinda dissappointed in gsl1. No creep tumor is not good

It's realistically going to be someone who was both a pro in Sc1 and has been playing Sc2 for a long while - Tester, Rainbow, Cool, Clyde are all pretty good bets in my opinion.

Do you even know what you are talking about? Tester cool rainbow etc were all ex bw pros. With nada july and boxer probably practicing like crazy now they have a good chance of winning gsl2. We'll see for ourselves when the tournament starts.

Isn't "GSL1 Korean" and "Old SC1 pro" pretty similar entries? After all, the Terran finalist and favourite to win was as old school a SC1 gamer as you could imagine.

Will probably be a GSL1 Korean or an Old SC1 pro, though. I just don't know which one to vote for.

voted for GSL 1 Korean like tester or the likes but I would love for a foreigner to win just for the mother interview pre match and how they will handle the mums and translating the messages for each other. Also the interview after the match. Our poor translator who has finally now got a seat will have his work cut out for him!!

I would be most surprised if an old SC:BW pro wins. I think it's a little naive to assume that just because you were amazing at BW means you'll be amazing at SC2. It's analogous to saying a DoTA pro would win WCG against the current best LoL players. It's just unrealistic. Maybe in a few seasons they'll be able to *compete* against the current players.

Cool's S1 play was just so far above the competition. I think it would be difficult to compete with that. It reminds me of the sort of play we were seeing with BW. He seemed to have perfect intuition/timing/macro etc. It was just so impressive. I don't think the old BW pros have that sort of game-sense yet for SC2.

Don't think any of the old pro's can pull it off, maybe NaDa.. I've seen a few BoxeR games and meh, he's good.. but then again he's not close to StC's skill (yet).
I'm not sure about July, havn't seen that many games from him, I'd love to see some sauron zerg style out of him.

I'm hoping that the old sc1 players will take it, but I actually think that one of the newer players will take it. It's not like there are that many known players, and since the game isn't as developed it should be much easier for someone new to break in and completely surprise us.

I think Tester could take out Fruit in the finals - we saw what fruit does because he doesn't feel safe about Zerg vs Protoss - he cheeses! And we saw just how immune Tester is to cheese.

Both of them have incredibly solid late game, but I really think that it'd be a closer match than if Fruit is up against a terran.

And I don't expect a sub-tester-skilled protoss to reach the finals. Maybe Inca or HuK could? I would LOVE to see a foreigner get into quarterfinals+ I REALLY REALLY WOULD. Any foreigner, even if you're more BM than Idra getting proxy reaper-tankdrop-voidray'd by a maphacker.

Addendum - I think it will take a bit more time for the recently-switched SC:BW pros to reach the skill that Tester/Cool/etc have in SC2 (who ALSO came from a very strong BW background.)

How can you guys vote for foreigners, thats some fanboyism right there

It will be ultra hard for TL guys to train better than Rainbow/Cool/Tester with their SC1 pro gaming experience and training regime, and they were already significantly behind in skill in GSL1.

I voted for existing Koreans, but I wish for one of the old School BWers to take it down.

Annoying poll... the only option that's mutually exclusive is "someone completely new" because it was defined to be mutually exclusive. FruitDealer overlaps GSL1 Champ, GSL1 Korean and arguably SC1 pro. Tester is GSL1 Korean and SC1 pro. IdrA is foreigner and SC1 pro, etc etc.

I said GSL1 Korean because that overlaps with the most amount of players I believe will rank high.

Oh I understand it. You claim old SC1 pros (Nada, Boxer, July) aren't up to par with the newer players. Cool and Rainbow, both old SC1 pros, dominated the first GSL and Nada, Boxer and July were better than both Cool and Rainbow at SC1.
So why wouldn't they be able to stand up to the newer players?

I would say it's safe to assume that either a GSL1 ro64 player or someone "new" will take it. The old pros haven't played enough against really good players and don't have the right practice environment yet, Cool taking it again is highly unlikely. He is obviously the best zerg, but I'm sure at least ten terran/toss players can take him in a bo3 any day. Also I believe you are underestimating the foreigners. Liquid guys are playing in an environment almost equal to a pro team's , remember they had just arrived in Korea when GSL1 started. They are not far below the best koreans I think. However there are so few foreigners that I feel top4 or top8 is going to be the best we can hope for.

would be cool with some new foreigner.. maybe morrow? havn't seen him matched up against any koreans, but he's very good in EU and US atleast.
if anyone in fact have seen him play koreans, i'd very much like a vod or replay.

otherwise i'd have to hope for tester.. protoss power!

Wow, this is actually going to be the sickest tournament ever. We have...

1) foreigners
2) BW legends (btw, why does nobody mention iloveoov in this category? he needs more love)
3) more recent BW pros (MVP)
4) sick GSL1 Koreans (Tester, Fruit, Ensnare)
5) WC3 legends (Moon, Lyn)
6) a bunch of new up and comers (Maru the kid?)

This is like a clash of different worlds. I'm so excited even just for the qualifiers~

I agree with your view except oov is not playing (he's committed to coaching SKT)

Rainbow and tester were mediocre players in bw and look what they have accomplish thus far in the GSL. The BW legends theoretically should be just be as successful.

Given that Nada quit being a BW progamer, I think he's serious about SC2 and will most likely take it this time.

wow really? Guys cmon, I dont think the new pros who are just getting into SC2 will win GSL2. Even if they were superior bw gamers, it still is a new game and requires a little luck. I really think the GSL1 deep run players have the best shot for GSL2 title holder.
I don't need luck, luck is for noobs, good luck to you though

Cool and Rainbow are old SC1 players

Yeah I know, read my post, understand it, come back, read your post, and stop spewing crap.

You said you know there are exceptions, except they happen to be the finalist and the runner up for GSL1. Those are significant exceptions.

I thought so too, but if you look at freakin MVP, he started laddering in the last week of August, and is now #1 in the world ladder, after one month of playing. and I doubt he played the beta much because he was still a sc1 pro back then.

This poll should be changed to
"Who will ACTUALLY win the next GSL, as in not your fantasy revenge of the Progamer finals"

Then again, see how long IntoTheRainbow's been retired for and he got to the finals soooo

Well I would love to see one of the TLAF-Liquid Team to win the event but I think it will be very hard. That's why I think someone new will march through to win GSL2 by surprise.

GO TLAF-Liquid its so awesome you are represented in Korea.

BW skill does translate, but we have to remember that these guys aren't exactly elite of the elite BW players anymore. If they were, I doubt they'd be picking up SC2

I doubt one the the trasfering pros will win this season. They are beasts to be sure, but they wont have the experience that the people that have been playing SC2 exclusively since beta. I think in season 3-4 we will really start seeing them come into the forefront and rack up the wins. However there will always be some new blood up at the top of the competition.

id like a foreigner to win like TLO or HuK if hes in it yet or IdrA even thou he comes across as a bigheaded arrogant *beep* *beep* etc, thou most likely one of the old koreans pros due to experience and confidence when playing in events like this, they know how to deal with the pressure.
