it really looks like some graphic design from 2000 or something. i think you should have a contest and review the entrees and then decide if you want to change it or not and i promise you will want to.

It's so beautiful and expresses great nuances of white and blue + i like blue and it's been part of TL since i've found the site around 2004

well, if you think about it.
a big part of the TL community is from BW, they played a game for over 10years.
they will likely not vote for a change.

the people most likely to vote for new site design is the younger generation who found the boards after picking up SC2.

apart from the horses, i prefer the board style, over the newer generation boards with huge banner signatures and achievements and titels and what-not. someone posts a 2 line comment and it eats up half a screen height of browser. it's a msg board, keep it about the text.

I'm new to the website and my first thought when i saw these horses was "Is this really the famous Starcraft website?" it's definitely unique compared to other websites, but i think i would prefer a theme that was more space-like. However the horses doesn't bother me at all, i just think that they belong at the farm :D

Why the horses?

When I have to check results at other computers, friends lean over and ask what kind of site that is and what I'm doing. It doesn't scream out SC1-YEAH!!! but its nice and über-covert

If possible could we get a Hannah-montana theme we can select? ^^ SFW ftw!

If you had some kickass great looking banner to replace it I wouldn't mind at all I think.
And I bet some of the nostalgia guys who now voted against replacing it ever wouldnt either.

I've grown to like them, but when I first the website I thought it was some random crappy website because of the look of them and closed to page, then got linked here by someone else then realised.

Imo keep horses theme (maybe even the same image), redesign the site. From what R1CH was saying in an old thread about patching and re-patching site, I know it's way harder than it seems. But man, all those tables in the code (and straight lines in the design), while familiar, look like a mess sometimes when compared to modern webdesign. TL IS content heavy though so maybe it's the only way things can look anyway.

The one thing i dislike with TL website is at it really doesn't utilize the wide screens people have nowadays. Even my 14" laptop has 1440x990 resolution. I like the color scheme though, very easy on the eyes.

As a new guy I really don't want to come in here and have any huge opinions on the horses in the banner, but it would be fun to hear about why they are there.

This sums it up really well, when people ask why TL doesn't have a Starcraft themed banner, its like (I think) Kennigut said on Wheat's Live on 3 show, Team Liquid is a progaming website, so really the fact that we play SC in its various forms is coincidental, we play SC because it is the most competitive game in the world.

Every SC website and its wife has some generic SC art for a banner.

In summary, I like it, its old and unique, and please don't ever change it, that banner is my sacred cow of the website.
