Highlander Bracket Contest
July 22nd, 2009 11:45 GMT
Image thanks to Xeofreestyler As part of The Highlanders $1020 prize pool, $100 is set aside to go to you; the community. While there are countless competitions we could have chosen for you to participate in to win $100, we decided that the classic bracket contest would be the best. So here's the deal. Attached to the bottom of this post you will find the Highlander bracket in a very pretty form (thanks Pachi!). Simply take that bracket and signal very clearly who is going to advance from each round of the tournament. Easy right?
Since the $100 must be given away, if no one predicts the bracket 100% correct then the next closest person will win the prize. By "closest" all you need to know is that getting the higher rounds correct (players and winners) is weighted more than the earlier rounds. If two people score the same, then the prize will be split between the two. The winner of the bracket contest will be announced at the end of the tournament.
How do I enter? 1) Save the bracket found at the bottom of the page to your harddrive (right click the link, choose save link as or alternatively click on the link and right click the image and save it) 2) Open the bracket in any image editor program (such as Paint) 3) Clearly draw onto the bracket the results from each round 4) Save the resulting image and upload it somewhere (e.g. imageshack, photobucket) 5) Send a PM to Bracket Contest with your entry 6) If you don't get a response back do not worry, I am a cold heartless machine
ANY ENTRY THAT IS NOT PM'D TO BRACKET CONTEST WILL NOT BE A VALID ENTRY
Happy guessing!!

I picked Fenix to beat Idra in the finals. It will be the SECOND time our favorite "foreigner" comes in second to a certain cheesy toss this summer.
+ Show Spoiler +I would have spoilered that, especially considering it doesn't happen for two days, but you'll all assume I can't really predict the future, so it's fine.

I was thinking of the same final but I think Dreiven will take it. WCG Poland is coming soon. Polish power will show itself this tournament.

After watching replays of Deska tonight, Im compelled to pick him as the winner. That kid is jaw-dropping for a foreigner.

No way to quickly code something into TL to just submit picks there instead of the described way? As well, where is the extra $20 going to? 700 for first, 100 each for two plays, 100 for brackets, anddd

Got my entry in. Picked Shauni as the unlikely winner ... haha. If he does win I will probably get the $100 guaranteed because no one else is likely to pick him as the winner with this very solid field.

oh no why does Lz have to play ret :/

I think I have decent chances of getting to quarters... but I'd face Idra there in a bo5 and my pvt is abysmal so my chances of winning are very very slim.

I have JF > Idra finals looolololol

Too bad ... I will be cheering for you anyway and watching whatever games you do end up in. Hopefully they will be casted but if not I'll get the replays if they are available.
You don't think you can beat Idra eh? Sure you can! Time to practice your PvT!!

Hey iNcontroL/Plexa/Someone:
In ret vs. LzGaMeR - who is offracing? ret's T vs Lz's Z or Lz's P vs ret's Z
|
its a really hard contest... so many good players!!! we are all expecting this tourney so hard!
|
Sounds like an awesome contest, great job but I have 2 questions
1. Do you want us to just choose a winner or the score also? I didn't see it written anywhere specifically but I'm assuming there BO-3? matches.
2. When is the due date? Anytime before the 25th?
Thanks, gl all and go JF!
|
ret vs lz first that blows TT

in all honesty, does it really matter?

Will you download the picture from the link?
Underlying question is, If the link dies in ~10 days am i still good?

To me, yes. For $100? Definitely.

Glad you lookin right past me lol. Dreiven won't make it out of the first round.

What I ment was, regardless of the matchup, is the result likely to be different? cause imho, i don't think it will.

I have Ret/White-Ra in the finals myself (with Ret winning). Though I'm really unsure, because if ESL is any indication, Ret/Idra can really go either way and they are the only two in this entire tournament I see winning with mayyyyyyybe the exception of JF/Ra. :p

Should I risk my $100 chance on you?

I just filled out who advances, but I'm not sure if there should also be the score and when it's Bo3 and Bo5?!
I have Idra/Fenix in the finals (with idra winning)...
|
Does anybody know of a decent image editing program for macintosh OS X 10.3.9 or earlier?

This tournament looks like it should put out some great games.
Also, judging from a lot of the great players here, the winner might still be in the air, rather than a sure win for Idra.
|
This tourney should be awesome. A lot of tough choices in the bracket but I have an Idra vs. White-Ra finals.

I highly suggest you upload it to some place like imageshack.us which is not likely to go down, however. After all, it's not like it takes any more effort or costs you anything, so why not be safe?

Awesome. Let's see if I can repeat my GOM season 1 bracket run. =D
|
Its nearly impossible to pick this right! Its so many 50/50 games!

Dreiven has more to practice for then IefNaij so I'm guessing he'll be in better shape. So hard to judge foreigner tournaments since players activity is never consistent nor really known.
|
Wow, I don't even know where to begin...what a sick set of match ups.
|
I put G5 and Idra in the finals just so Idra could lose to G5. G5's got it damn rough in my bracket though but ending up with an easy win at the end against Idra
G5 HWAITING!

Haha you know Idra pretty much has the best PvT outside of Korea, right? XD

IefNaij and Canada FTW :D Lol probably not.

any chance once the dead line hits .. we can get a new chart of what people vote on =p really curious lol

|
Kolll can beat Ret. He probably won't, but he's one of two people in this tournament with a good shot at it.
|
i voted Fenix to win the tourney
|
wow the right side of the bracket is stacked idra might actually make it to finals
|
THIS IS NOT A JOKE
I have travelled to the future and checked out my bracket. I will win the contest so please send me the money.
Thanks.

I think shauni can take out ret too but like he said beating idra might be the hardest.

Haha yeah i have that 2! But its not that bit who is the hard to predict! Look the other side of the bracket. Like White-ra vs mondragon?? Who will win that, The winner there vs Fenix (probebly)?? Brat_ok vs deska?? The winner there vs a2?? And some other hard games!

Yeah i think Idra will be 2 hard for shauni. If he goes that far!

So with the latest substitutions, how will this affect our brackets if we've already sent them in?

It is better we replace the gamers that would have not shown than forfeit some rounds in the name of a bracket contest. If you want to send a new bracket do so with the proper info that your previous one is null and void or w/e.
Lzgamer vs ret will PROBABLY be Lzgamer (Z) vs ret (T) but that is up to them and I do not know for sure.

arew -> sarens
he drops out last minute because "something came up"
I bitch at him for 5 minutes and he gets pissy cause I use bm.. rofl. Kid takes a shit on the community and expects no recourse. Sorry to those that counted on advokate->arew.. but it is better a player plays than a bracket with a bunch of w/o's.
Also we always had the replacement aspect so this is just luck of the draw sorry.

are obs allowed if the players don't have a problem?
