[WL] What year is it again?

What year is it again? - sAviOr is reborn
We're back underway. What seventh level of hell inspired that Lunar New Year holiday? Anyway.. Winner's League is upon us all like WoW nerds on Blizzcon tickets. It's about time that we start to examine what's good. I expect the games to come fast and furious on our heroic progamers in the coming months. Who will be able to handle the pressure? Can it finally be time for 2009? Is sAviOr ready? Ma Jae Yoon, Kim Taek Yong, and Shin Sang Moon are on everyone's minds. Can they live up to the enormous expectations of their fans? Stay away from the pizzeria July, because it's time to play.
Well, this is a bit odd. There has been quite a bit of movement downwards for teams that I frankly just thought would step their game up for this format. MBCGame and eSTRO have been awful. There aren't really any words to describe the play from MBC so far. eSTRO has always had trouble in Proleague, but a few shining stars last round like Really and SangHo have yet to make their impact on WL. Some teams on the rise include WeMade Fox, CJ Entus, and KTF MagicNs. With twenty matches having gone by, CJ and FOX are undefeated thus far. KTF was just immeasurably poor in the first two rounds, but some of their lesser named players have stepped up huge. Can CJ stay on top another week? It only gets tougher as the Starleagues start to really weigh down on your top performers. Backups will be called to carry their weight in the coming weeks. Let's see what these teams are made of.
Compared to last week, this week has been much more stable. As you can see, every match has produced at least one streaking player riding their momentum to pick up multiple victories. HiyA managed to have another massive performance this week with his All-kill on STX. He's going to be a contender this year, you can write that down wherever you like. sAviOr. Man, what can I say? I really did not expect it. You can flame me all you want, but I thought sAviOr was finished. I'm not ready to proclaim him a double starleague winner just yet. His three wins were two ZvZ's and a bit of a fluky win over Leta. That being said, I've got another (what.. fifth.. sixth?) reason to watch Starcraft now. Jaedong is just blowing away the competition. He managed to falter against Free on Tau Cross in one of the better matches of the week, but I'd be scared if you have Jaedong in your Starleague group.
What does this even show you? I'm sure you're asking yourself something along those lines. To be fair, it isn't like statistics are a barometer for the balance of the maps. The point of this display is to allow the reader to witness a concise window into what the coaches are thinking, a bit of the recent map history, and a little more depth into the game we love. Rush Hour 3 shows up statistically as the Terran haven we all knew it was. Coaches are putting out more Zergs and Terrans lately as you can tell they are getting more appearances and running into each other rather often. Toss seem to be falling back on Andromeda and Medusa at the moment, two maps that could surely swing away from them in a heartbeat. We'll know more as the weeks progress and you can check out the R&S thread for the full league statistics if you're so inclined.
Players of the Week
A really nice week of games to be honest. Many of them from players we expect to show class and consistency. They just haven't been. I'm happy to see it return. Tau Cross managed to bring three of the five best games of the week. Hopefully we continue to see some of the better maps brought into swing if they're needed. I'd rather see epic games than new maps every league for the most part. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves this week. See you next time!
Check out Proleague Updates!! for more information.

To be fair it is opinion. I respect yours completely, but I don't rate ZvZ an entertaining matchup.. at all.

Whether you think the matchup is entertaining or not, that particular game was amazing.

this is sick
are you planning on keeping these up or is it just a one off?

SAVIOR! Should do my homework. Watching the games instead. Ah...
|
sAviOr makes Staracraft imbalanced. He needs to just retire as the greatest person to ever play the game.
|
MAE JAE MOTHER FUCKING YOON. iz hurr.
lol anyone else think that his pimpcoat would hinder his play? It seemed big and bulky, I think it would mess with my hand speed.
Maybe that is sAviOrs training weights, similar to Goku.

nice write-up, savior inc!
|
Not just savior, but Anytime and iloveOov had their streaks too. But that was like 2 weeks ago, so I guess that doesn't count.
Nice writeup Fzero.

Seeing Savior ripping into the competition at PL was pretty refreshing for someone who turned up post-Ma Jae Yoon Maestro-era of domination (even if it was against my beloved Sparkyz.) Thanks for the write up and VODS of the games I didn't attend ^^.

All the last games of sAviOr were a pleasant surprise to me. I hope he continues like that!

I think JaeDong vs Zero should be a pick for match of the week... I mean... the commentators couldn't keep up... watching it gave me a headache! Best ZvZ I've seen, I think

This is quite correct. Every week so far I've had more than five games. I don't want to list EVERY game simply because I know I don't want to sit down to watch 10 videos in a row. Five is even quite a bit when they are long like this week. The best way to show would be top 3, but I just can't narrow it that much. This week I had 8 games and I chose 5 of them. A few people are disappointed, but what can I do?

Thanks, unfortunately I'm trying to avoid cluttering my TL upload folder with a thousand million billion photos since I'm unable to delete the old ones. Something this tiny is going to have to stay. Thank you again though! Nice catch. XD

Maybe I should not compare week 1 and week 2 streaks in my chart because a few people have seemed confused about when they occurred. There is an entire article written called "Days of Reckoning" in the News forum about what happened Week 1. The listing of the streaks was just to show you which maps are breaking streaks, which players KEEP streaking, and how many there are week to week (ie: How consistent are the players?).

I don't think savior vs leta was a flukey win...-______-;;
|
I have to say Flash v Reach was an absolutely amazing game. + Show Spoiler +I totally thought flash was done for in the beggining, reach played so well and aggressivly with near perfect storms, just the fact that Flash came back and won that game, makes me think he is going to have a very good year. GJ FLASH

Thx fro the players of the week game !
|
in reach vs flash, I was way more impressed with reach's play. + Show Spoiler +It was still very even up until the end when he decided to chase down flash's army all the way into his min only expo.. sigh.. i feel like reach should win, damn the upgraded Terran in defense mode, so hard to crack, especially when toss had to go across a bridge
Reach is pretty much the one directing the game flow the entire time, that first battle was beautiful...3-3 terran so imba

Still can't believe Khan is 1-3.

reach vs flash was good + Show Spoiler +up until the point where reach suicided his whole army into flash's setup army like a fucking moron after he had secured the the critical 3rd main on tau, and all he had to do was defend that base to win

i wanted reach to win T_T

Aha, we all misunderstood! When Savior said he would destroy in 2009, he was thinking of the Lunar New Year.
|
EIGHT-ZERO! Savior starts with Bisu and ends with everyone!
|
go.go All-kills in 09. What year is it again?
Tonights game was awesome.
Savior vs Really was a mindfuck to everyone watching, Really handled it really well(haha!). I still have no idea he lost his huge MnM ball in the end though. Must be Savior doing something, because it's 2009.
