The Broodling twins were the favorites: I don't see why your expectations were so freaking high.

Why is it that depressing?

First of all we have two zergs in ro16, which il a good news. I would have been very depressed not to see one of the brothers advancing.

Secondly, the two best players of both groups advanced.

The games were bad because the players were bad. Luxury played very well as none of his game was even close. Yellow muta control vs 910 was sexy. I dunno. Is all right I think.
Your half right. Yarnc advanced because he was clearly the superior player and dominated with ease. Luxury on the other hand played so goddam poor it was ridiculous. Take game 1 for example. Any moron can execute a 3hat ling build, but Luxury almost fucked it up. He sent his lings to go around the back (as one would want) but instead they glitched on the power generators stalling the attack for ike 5-6 seconds. On top of that, he was tradings lings for probes at a near 2:1 ratio which is abysmal! Lings should rape probes effortlessly. In the 2nd game his ling control was terrible yet again and won the game by virtue of strategy rather than mechanics. Luxury does not deserve to be in this OSL and is going to go 0-3 in his group no matter who he is playing (put him in testers group and tester will win... that is unless luxury cheeses)

I'm really happy and excited for yarnc - he's going to go far this season. And with July/Jaedong still to come theres enough hope for the Zerg to gain some ground still!

Wow, that's really insulting.
Lux' ZvP was never stellar, but being an underdog to Tester, that's really something.
Guess I'll have to watch the vods to find out. Bad play can also be pretty funny sometimes. :p

If Luxury is that bad, then what is that say about YoonJoong?
YoonJoong is not in pro level, I guess.

Cheesing is a viable strategy. At least a cheese-heavy player is interesting to watch to see how he plays out future games.

If he can win an OSL by pure cheesing, then more power to him. But I think players will catch on long before that happens.

Errr, typo?:
"Shuttle had enough flank room and a Shuttle full of Zealots to stop the push"
should be:
"YoonJoong had enough flank room and a Shuttle full of Zealots to stop the push"?

EDIT: Also very dissapointed in HiyA -_-

Thanks for the writeup anyway though Plexa

He discovered 5 pool pretty early, and he build 1 cannon against it, if he built 2, the game is in his hands.
Then, after he knew there are at least a dozen zerglings, he still donated his 4 precious zealots.
Bad game sense for sure. His early elimination is good for OSL.

I was always impressed by the number of zealots Shuttle builds PvT, but 1 cannon against a 5pool is just depressing =(

Plexa are you really complaining about a zerg cheesing in this day and age? Seriously? And how did by.hero cheese bisu? If you want norush15 go play fastest. by.hero pressured him and capitalized on his FE mistake on tears of the moon and then beat him straight up on medusa.

Theres a difference between how by.hero played and Luxury played. by.hero's control was impeccable and played a super standard straightup game against Bisu and dominated him in impressive fashion. Luxury almost fucked up his attack in game 1 and then played a 5 pool in the second game. One cheese is tolerable, even two if theyre executed brilliantly and have some real thought powered into it, but seriously, Luxury basically cheated the fans of a good game and that contributed to the overall shittyness of the games last week. The moral of the story is that Luxury probably would have won without having to cheese, and probably produced a better game because of it.

Actually Shuttle cheated the fans of a good game by scouting a 5pool and building one cannon.

And now that I've watched them, his games vs Hiya were fascinating, he was incredibly aggressive game 2 and a pleasure to watch - Hiya did some neat things to fight him off, too. How can people complain about this?

Wake up, toss fan boys, toss is dead this season. It is zerg's turn.
And your thread title is really disgusting.

I'm still lost as to how scouting not enough cannons and breaking with lings is cheese.
