At some point DH should raise the prize money (a little bit).... I know DH is not all about the money but srsly: 3 enormous group stages, 32-ish-playoffs...should be at least a bit more for the top4 finisher.

It looks to me that Stephano is burning out because of his easy-going attitude and soulless focus on money. He already mentioned once, that he will retire if his earnings won't be above certain annual threshold. I guess it could be predicted that he will retire.

gumiho and leenock the two best, maybe some koreans under them and then just a smooth blob of players below that.

Good article and PowerRank as always.
But I really don't see JYP in top 15-20 of this. Not a single chance to see him at 6 position for me.

This. Perhaps BabyKnight too, I think they both have a good shot of taking out a korean or 2.

Otherwise, I am ridiculously excited to see jaedong go further than expected and see where stephano is at in general.

What am I missing?

Results from a year ago aren't particularly relevant to a HotS powerranking.

If you remove WoL games then most of the power rankings don't make sense. You can't base power rankings off of a single qualifier or tournament, etc. Only Koreans have enough tournament games played in HotS to really categorise them decently...

To be fair I have been out of the scene, but I am not really sure what Naniwa (for example) has really done in the last year, and he is still referred to as an ex-GSL quarterfinalist, which is about as relevant as calling HuK an ex-GSL quarterfinalist... (which he is I think?)

#16: Definitely-not-EG.NaNiwa

One could argue that Naniwa is one of few foreigners with the experience, work ethic and raw talent necessary to take the fight to the Koreans this weekend. One could argue that despite a nearly empty match record in HotS, we should put our faith in NaNiwa, and believe that he has been practicing hard (even being sighted in Korea) to put the dispute over the Swedish throne to rest once and for all. Whatever the case, we're taking a leap of faith by putting NaNiwa up here as the highest ranked Swede of the tournament. With names like Gumiho, Polt, Leenock and Oz in attendance, the former GSL quarterfinalist has his work cut out for him. This is his time, more than ever before, to prove to everyone that he, and he alone, is the greatest Swedish Starcraft II player of all time, and we believe that he realizes this as well.

I like Naniwa, I have no problems with this, but if you're going to let him slip by with nothing in HotS then the same rules should apply to people like HuK, Grubby, etc., who aren't even on the notable players list? This is actually a completely irrelevant power ranking beyond top 5.

Your sig states you're a HuK fan, and you also have stated you've been out of touch with the scene, so obviously you're biased and also out of touch with what has happened of late.

Everytime we've seen HuK play lately he hasn't just looked like a foreigner, he's looked like a low-mid tier foreigner. There is absolutely no way he should even be in the honourable mentions, let alone the power ranking. Grubby on the other hand, should be an honourable mention for sure. Naniwa is a gamble, but a reasonable one given how he's always looked like one of the strongest foreigners in the last year.

Hey dude. I know everyone thinks HuK is bad, but his results are still worthy of a notable mention (even recent results.. qualification via KR for IPL6 + up and downs). Secondly, everybody except 1 or 2 players look bad playing against Koreans and HuK doesn't have team leagues against foreigners or random EU tournaments to make him look good like half of these players. Thirdly, 4-0. It is almost an anti-bias.

a threeway tie between Strelok Lucifron and YuGiOh. Direct comparison cant be applied and they have exactly even mapscores and they all defeated the 4th player in their group with a 2:0. I'm curious as to how they are going to solve that.

Wait what? Some strange power rankings to say the least. ForGG at #7? Nerchio near the bottom? Makes no sense.
