This OSL has zipped along, and we are already at the end of the group stages. All that remains is the 3rd place seeding, tie breakers, and then it is on to the playoffs. If you need to get caught up on the results, of just figure out how all this works, check out jkillashark's standings post. Click Me!

Game 1: Chojja vs Cloud on 815

After his crushing defeat yesterday at the hands of Boxer, ChoJJa was back one day later for the same matchup and same map. Hopefully he had made some improvements to his build, or come up with something new in the interm.

He started the game with a hatchery at his expo, followed by a quick lair. In the terran base a factory was up quickly with an academy, Cloud having scouted the zerg player on the first go. Followed by a starport, Cloud quickly loaded up his units into a dropship and dropped the zerg main. All the drones fell and the game was over in a flash.

Cloud > ChoJJa

With that loss, ChoJJa comes in second in his group, eliminating oov from the competition... conspiracy theorists GO!

Group A results:
Cloud 2-1
ChoJJa 2-1
Yellow[Name] 1-2 3rd seed
oov 1-2 out of the OSL

Game 2: Sync vs July on Peaks

July started at the bottom and took his expo while harassing Sync up in his base enough to see a quick factory. What he didnt see was the second factory go down as he started a lair at his natural. The first vulture scouted the map as July hastily put down a sunken colony at his ramp and a hydra den in his main. His lings did not allow the vulture down his ramp at the expense of many of their bretheren. Those same lings tried to break through Sync's lightly gaurded schoke, and succeeded in finding Sync's two factory metal tech.

As speedy vultures took advantage of July's slower lings, his concentration failed him as two lurkers snuck behind his main mineral line and took out 19 scv's. In retaliation, Sync's vultures got into the zerg main and his mines killed every drone. At this point both players were minging only from their naturals, as July tried to repopulate his main on the strength of three hatcheries. His game plan had shifted to hydralisks now, as the threat of mines prevented him from moving about without detection.

Sync finally built an academy and tanks to take care of the lurkers in his main but time was passing quickly and July had expanded again half way up the left side. His drones were caught all alone when vultures swooped in and picked them off, but slowly his hydralisks and fast ovs were working their way up towards the terran base.

Another two factories were dropped in the terran main, but the scv line was woefully underpopulated. July continued his main line lurker harass as Sync was forced to retreat back to his main to defend with tanks. As he did so, July moved up with muta/ling/hydras, and Sync's limited air defense cost him as July's mutalisks consistantly found weak points. As Sync tried to defend, he was eventually run over as he had too many targets to hit.

July > Sync

Sync had a nice build, and had he reacted faster to the initial lurker raid, or even better had he laid mined up there, this game would have been his. However, the weakness of metal was exposed in the later game, as 20 units just cannot shoot down 200 units before being run over.

Group B results:
Rock 2-1
GoRush 2-1
July 1-2 3rd seed
Sync 1-2 out of the OSL.

Game 3: Boxer vs ShinHwa on Cultivation Period

Boxer is undefeated so far in both major leagues this season, and Shinhwa is ... doing better than Pusan! Spoiling Boxer's 14 game winning streak vs Zerg would be a tall task however.

Boxer opened with a depot and then barracks at his choke while Shinhwa 9 pooled with gas in his main. The 9 pool was out before the first marine, but lone marine and three scv provided all the defense necessary for Lim to deflect the first attack.

As Shinhwa took his natural, Boxer finished an academy in record time. Still with only one barracks, Boxer was producing firebats and medics as Shinhwa contained his front choke with lings.

With three firebats, four rines, and a medic, Shinhwa allowed Boxer to flambay his way into the zerg main and past two sunken colonies that were 5 seconds too late. 5 seconds after that his pool was dead and he tapped GG.

Boxer > ShinHwa

Stupid Shinhwa. Boxer's build was perfect as he blocked his choke with two depots and a barracks, and then reached academy in record speed. Shinhwa just underestimated everything and choked at the end. OGN needs some better games.

Group C results:
Boxer 3-0
Jju 2-1
ShinHwa 1-2 3rd seed
Pusan 0-3 out of the OSL

Game 4: Child vs Sea on Rush Hour III

The child like prodigy Sea took on Child, who had underwhelmed viewers in his previous games. The game opened with a bang as Sea build a CC at 14, not in his base, but at the natural himself. In the zerg base a third hatchery went down quickly and was promptly seen by Sea's scout. It was not until 6 lings took the long route to his base that Child saw the build he was up against.

Once he saw the terran power build, Child started a lair and took his second gas. He wasted no drones or minerals on sunken colonies and tried to keep Sea's marine numbers down using speedling attacks as he teched to lurkers.

Sea worked on the infrastructure required for his fast minerals, building 5 barracks almost at once. His advance scouts saw the first four lurkers, and pure MM went up against a sizable lurker ling force. Sea took a lot of casualties, but stopped the attack before it could reach his minerals. With a huge economy, his marines were quickly upgraded to 1-1, vessels were matched with tanks, and Child was facing an entrenched terran with a huge army.

Sea eventually moved out with a huge MM army and marched right up to the zerg natural. The sunkens fell, but lurkers came to reinforce the front lines. As the lurkers, mutalisks and lings of Child pushed back the terran force, another large MM force took out a hatchery at 9. The pressure was termendous from both sides at this point, and Child could not keep his units alive long enough to match the size of the terran force. Sea walked into the zerg main and leveled it, leaving Child with only his expansion at 7. GG.

Sea > Child

The appatizer Terran showed why he is 3-0 and deservingly into the next round. Meawhile, Chile has to go back to the dawing board and try to re-qualify for next season.

Group D results:
Sea 3-0
GoodFriend 2-1
Rainbow 1-2 3rd seed
Child 0-3 out of the OSL

Game 5: ZergMan vs Nal_rA on Rush Hour

Nal_rA wins SIXTY SIX PERCENT of his games vs Zerg. Sick. I lost 10k because of rA yesterday, so I was looking to make it back today as I put another wager this time for ZergMan.

The game opened with both players on the left side, protoss at 11 and zerg at 7. rA opened with a pylon/forge build... but inside his main. As Zergman dropped a 12 pool, he expanded at his natural unaware of the pylon warping in from below...

Two cannons warped in to defend the pylon, and then another two warped in right below the hatchery. rA showed great control by preventing a sunken from getting started and actually killing the drone with his probe. The hatchery fell, and Zergman was left with three hatcheries... two in his main and one in rA's main. Yes, the counter to being cannon rushed is to offensive hatch.

rA battled the hatchery in his main, and Zergman battled the three gate zealot pressure that had taken shape outside his ramp. Zergman consistanly wasted his zerglings into cannons, and rA gathered his strength on both ends, finishing the zerg player with mass zealots in a constant pump.

rA > ZergMan

Note to self, no more hunches.. just vote for the best. I swear that to practice Kang Min just plays BGH and then employs the same strategies. Regardless, a field of flowers bloomed outside the zerg base and it was all downhill for Zergman there. Not that he would have won anyways, but it is worth noting that the Zerg control was really quite poor that game.

Group E results:
rA 3-0
ZergMan 1-2
Stay 1-2
Casy 1-2
The bottom 3 will play a tie breaker.

Game 6: Iris vs Midas on Cultivation Period

Iris began as the blue terran at the top, while Midas landed as the green terran at 9. Midas was originally the one who recommended Iris for the gm team, so these two have a lot of background together.

Right from the get go Midas was faster, laying his factory down sooner while scouting out the 12 terran. Iris was unable to look inside Midas' base because of two marines, so he couldn't see the starport that followed. Iris himself was working on a two factory build, but his early 4 marines + vulture could not gain purchase inside Midas' base because of a well placed bunker.

With a tank ready for both players, Iris added an armoury while Midas researched cloaking for his first wraith. Also nearly finished for Iris was an academy, putting him in good position to defend against the wraiths of Midas.

Midas started a hidden expansion at 11 as the middle game got underway, but his choke was now contained with Iris' tanks and goliaths. Midas used his remaining wraith to slow Iris' expansion and harass his main While Iris moved his army from Midas' choke to search 7 for an expo. Wrong direction.

With his natural now running, Iris was put under immidiate pressure as Midas ferried tanks from his main into the space behnd his opponents natural. Iris lost buckets of scv, but had countered by halting Midas' secret 11 expo. Midas had taken 7 and 6, but for the moment he was expo-less.

Having withstood the early pressure and countered with a body blow, Iris used his economic advantage to push back at Midas and prevent his natural. Midas tried one more attempted drop at 12, but was met by goliaths and tapped GG.

Iris > Midas

The early wraith build by Midas paid no dividends, and Iris was able to recover from some early weak positioning to take a game away from his clanmate. Midas actually smiled when the game was finished, but he was in control of his own destiny and will now have to battle it out in a tie breaker.

Group F results:
Yellow 3-0
Stork 1-2
Midas 1-2
Iris 1-2
The bottom 3 will fight for the remaining spots.

Now that four of the six groups are decided, the next week will have the remaining positions filled and the third place players decided. Hope you enjoyed this week.

wow zergman vs. nal_ra was intense. I was in this situation once in rov where i was proxy gated though right on top of the 16 min. line. Instead of building that hatchery on the zerg ramp he should've just built the hatchery on nal_ra's base as he did with drones coming into his base to make some sunkens asap. he should've operated with 2 hatch and made sunkens too in his original base. That is what I did heh. But wow that was an intense game the announcers were really devastated and zergman's expression when seeing those hidden cannons was fun.

Hmm, Boxer vs Yellow usually ends up with Boxer > Yellow.

I guess we want to see that matchup for that reason! ^^

PLEASE LET IT BE ANOTHER SERIES OF CHEAP BUNKER RUSHES!

That way, we can have a good time flaming Boxer's cheeses!
I was thinking about joining a debate club, but I was talked out of it.
