Yes, Socke was the best german player in 2011 and he had great showings at nearly every MLG back then which earned him a lot of American fans. Sure he is still doing decently overall. To call him the best German player so is ridiculous. In contrast to Socke HasuObs had several good showings in 2012 (1st EPS, 2nd EPS, 1st Berlin Open, 2nd WCS Ger, 3rd Campus Party, etc...) and earned more than twice in prize money than Socke. Pls keep that in mind when you write an article for Dreamhack Winter. I would agree you. Maybe they are pretty even but I also think, that Hasu is a bit better overall. I don't say that only because of games or tournaments they won or lost. If you hear and watch interviews with Socke and hasuobs (after games for example), it seems that Hasu is more into the game. It seems that he can analyse and read games/build orders very fast and his decisions in game are pretty smart. But I would not blame anybody for saying, that Socke is the best German cause it depends on individual feeling and also its just the fact, that Socke plays at WCS and Hasuobs not. (: btw. nice news. Thank you for that!

You have got to be kidding me, he will be lucky to even take one game off him, as Rain has looked as the only player in the world to actually figure out the match up we call PvP. Even if he has looked good against other top tier European or Korean players none of them have come close to beating Rain in a PvP series. I also have a feeling that State will probably beat him as well, so the chances of BabyKnight actually making it out of this group is much less than what you give him credit for sure he had an above average run at Lone Star but i doubt that he will be able to reproduce those results. Other than that nice write up and I look forward to seeing the second part come out! Nah, I called a BabyKnight 2-1 over Rain in my predictions too. You're gonna be surprised, bro.

Thank you for that! I am honored that your first post here is a respond to me. ![]() On topic: I think that overall Hasu is quite a lot better than Socke at the moment. It's true that he won the qualifier but in the end it's only one tournament. If you look at the whole year you have to admit that hasuobs was a lot more successful. It also shows ingame if you see both players play. But if you look at certain moments in Socke's play you see brilliance you rarely see in other players play. We saw him beating several world class players in a row at MLGs. While HasuObs seems to be a lot more solid i would say that Socke's chances to make it far in the World Finals are a bid better. Just looking at the amount of Zergs (and the lack of terrans) and just Socke's ability to upset in positions when he is supposed to be the underdog. Imo: PvT HasuObs >> Socke PvP HasuObs >= Socke PvZ HasuObs < Socke I think that the strength of one of them is the weakness of the other one. On the one hand HasuObs builds are very well executed and his micro is excellent. Socke is both lacking a bid atm. Socke on the other hand is very unpredictable and he makes some great calls on the fly which is very important in PvZ. Hasuobs is a very passiv player and most pros know that. Especially in PvZ where Zerg has a big advantage in the lategame he gets punished for that. In PvT solid builds and good army control is very important that's why HasuObs has one of the best PvT outside of korea. I think both of them have great decision making. It only shows more for socke because his playstyle finds him more often in unique situtations. I agree that it looks like Socke isn't practicing as much. Sometimes his builds look very thought through, clean and he surprises with great performances(WCS Ger, MLG). Most of the time so there are a lot of small mistakes in his play, his macro and micro is sloppy. In the end i am a big fan of both of them. i just don't think it's fair to call socke the best German because of all the things i brought up. I am pretty sure he is practicing hard for the World finals so. If we see the socke in his best shape, i am sure he will make it far in the tournament! Gl Socke!

Just looking at the amount of Zergs (and the lack of terrans) and just Socke's ability to upset in positions when he is supposed to be the underdog. that's the main reason I think Socke's still the best; you sort of know what you're getting from HasuObs; safe, solid play that will get him wins at a good rate against most Europeans pros, but rarely against the Stephanos, Nerchios or Code S Koreans. Socke has more "star sense" and seems to randomly have a chance to come through in big moments, and what's a bigger moment than this tournament ![]()

Mafia is in a group with 3 Protoss, his team mate is the undisputed best Protoss in SEA, ZvP is already a pretty broken match up right now, so yah Mafia > State as for BabyKnight vs Mafia, itll be a 2-1 either way, hopefully Mafia! ^_^
