I posted this in a thread yesterday that also "spoiled" the finals. While there is something to say that even with a correct title, the nature of the frontpage and graphics on teamliquid still allow something to get spoiled. In the end, it is always you that is responsible for allowing yourself to get spoiled. Keep in mind that the qoute was written where someone spoiled in the title, that's why it can have a harsh tone at times, because I feel that is simply inexcusable.
With the frontpage news and the graphic that obviously makes things harder. Isn't that the same exposure as a title? Most likely it is, probably even more so however. It's teamliquids site and their newsfeed. At some point a line gets drawn regarding the legitimacy of something being a spoiler or not, and I feel in cases where it's at least a few days later, they seem to always delay at least a couple days, it's more than fair and there is nothing to whine about. They are competent to make those decisions responsably. The qoute, exploring some parts a bit more.

If it was one day after, I think most would say a spoiler is not acceptable. If it is an arbitrary number of days after, it will depend on who you ask to decide if under those conditions a spoiler is still not acceptable or has become acceptable for whatever reason.
The reason I'm staying it like this is because it should reveal that there is no answer to that. You can keep bouncing back and forth, to never settle on a perfect ruleset.
What I would therefore like to say is that it only requires a little thought to make your title spoiler free. You are afterall not just making a post, you are creating a thread which includes bringing interesting points to the surface, getting the layout nice, poking into areas to help the discussion to get going. I think you can easily include making your title be spoiler free into that set.
Personally, I can't get spoiled because I don't care. When I do care, I don't get spoiled because I either watch it as a first priority or give up on caring on the spoiler and just enjoy the games or not watch at all. In ways it's really a conscious decision to get spoiled. You spoil it for yourself by allowing yourself to get spoiled. The only exclusion is leaked results and the like but that should speak for itself.
So I don't think there is much to do, except for people to take responsibility, be it shielding yourself because of other people's inconsideration or taking other people into considering when making a thread.

A part of me really wants to see Polt take this. He's been in this scene for quite a while and always just on the cusp of greatness. I think he has the ability and the talent to win this game, although I've been burned Liquibetting against Boxer's disciples before.
And re: the spoiler, I'm really curious why the SC community cares more about them than other sports? Newspapers and mainstream media outlets print scores and results in big bold letters everywhere yet a single graphic for a finals preview gets people taking to the street. Get Real.

This, it's ridiculous. Do people write in to newspapers complaining about spoilers? If you have ever recorded a sports event that you had to miss you know the only way to not get spoiled is to avoid other people/places/websites that could potentially spoil you until you have watched it. Time zones are no exception, when the World Cup was in Korea ESPN was scrolling the results at the bottom of the screen and had them on their website just as usual. One of the few things that drives me crazy about the SC2 community is this oversensitivity to spoilers and putting the onus on the community to not spoil the individual instead of on the individual to use some common sense and not go where he could get spoiled.

Not to dimishin Polt in anyway (his resounding victory against Alicia is earning enough imho) But lets not get to extreme ok calling Maka a Top Terran...
I'll still be rooting for MMA. SlayerS_Hwaiting! Avenge Alicia!

In the first Bread and Butter builds section,
With the threat of ravens, vikings, etc, going for late vikings against someone who's already teched tends to be a bad idea. should be

So I live in Canada and the GSL games usually start around 4am, so knowing that i wont watch them live and will most probably watch them the next morning, I do myself a favor and dont go on TL and i dont even check my twitter because I follow tons of SC2 players that usually have something to say about games especially when its a TL or oGs player playing. If you really care that much about being spoiled, then dont get on TL.

Amazing writeup. I was already hyped because MMA was in it, and I still think he'll take it, but interesting to see the perspective on Polt. I almost want Polt to win for MKP's sake. Almost.

J. He's the person responsible for the terrible streams at MLG Dallas.
Could anyone explain this?

It's pretty self explanatory. The SC2 streams at MLG Dallas were generally awful, laggy, offline half the time, etc. It caused a lot of complaint for people that bought an HD ticket (hint: a lot did).

I really want MMA to knock Polt's Huk-killing smirk off his face. Really, so much.

You're complaining about a spoiler when you've had ample time to catch up....why?
Also, you make this post on the eve of the Super Tourney Finals.
Brought it on yourself, brah!

And it was all Polt's fault. ALL.

Also why do people complain about the spoilers when the title itself says its a finals preview... People are not complaining about clicking this article and then seeing it spoiled. They are complaining about it being on the front page in big letters, so as soon as you goto teamliquid its the first thing your eyes are staring at on the main page. That is all.
yeah thats not good my season is now werthless
