Is there a reason why you guys are releasing these in huge block formats (ie several days in one post) instead of by the day like you did with GSL1? Sorry if this question has been answered already.

Great writeups as always, thanks a lot for this.

Great writeups as always, thanks a lot for this.

This wasn't the initial plan, we just ran into a couple of hitches and the ro16 got delayed, so we released them together. In the future we're definitely striving to get them out in a more timely manner, but the lateness of this release was my fault and I apologize.

I thought the information was presented fairly, and while the word "cheesy" is used, it's used after the word "wonderful," implying that the viewer/writer enjoyed the strategy a great deal. IdrA also received a C rating for his play, which was described as "uninspired." I guess I don't understand your aggression, and think that given the content of the post, and the work that went into it, it's unwarranted.

I didn't read all the write ups, and can't speak to whether other events of favoritism are present, but I just felt that the examples you gave were inappropriate and thought I'd offer a different perspective.

As for the OP, well done as always, and thanks for the coverage.


The post made excuses for Idra though, saying "the win isn't that impressive for someone who admitted ZvZ isn't their best" or something. I'm kind of sick of people saying things like "Idra just needs practice at ZvZ." The only thing that matters is results. Until Idra shows actual notcieable improvement in ZvZ, people should stop giving him unwarranted credit for doing nothing.

I understand this. I agree that he seemed to be shut down completely by the overseers and that given the time he's spent in Korea, and the number of tournaments he's competed in, a lot of people expected a better response than what happened.

A lot of my response to the post I quoted was based on his "aggression" towards the writers. While they seemed to give IdrA the benefit of the doubt, in my reading they didn't seem to discredit Zenio's play. I am often put off by members who attack community and staff members for doing work that is largely volunteer based, and in my opinion, of a high quality.

I think it's also worth noting that he's made it GSL twice, and got further the second time. Only one of two foreigners to do make it into season 1 and 2 (I believe) and TLO was eliminated in Ro64. These tournaments are incredibly difficult, especially going into future seasons, when they will only attract more high level players.

All in all, I agree, IdrA is consistently favored to go far in tournaments, and it seems like more often than not he comes up short. You can call that overrated, but I think his accomplishments shouldn't be thrown out so easily. He won MLG D.C., and last season's GSL champ went down in Ro32 this season. Luck plays a large roll, and things are only going to get harder.

To close out this wall of text, I understand what you're saying, and hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Very nice post, though I did lol a bit at the end where its like "what will happen in the round of 4 who will survive!" o wait...

On a side note I think people are exaggerating this whole Idra favoritism thing. The author was simply pointing out that zvz is his worst match up and that he is indeed a better player than that(which is completely true). And also no results are not the only thing that matters. You could literally be the best player in the world and not have qualified for the gsl, unlikely but possible. This game does have an element of luck in it believe it or not in both the brackets and in game. Besides Idra does have pretty good results so I don't know where thats coming from.

Great writeup... I love these things so that I can find matches when I want to find them later. So easy to find "what game was it where the 6 pool worked where it shouldn't have" or whatever.

Just pointing out an oddity, the player ratings changed from A B C D F to star ratings about halfway through.

This is probably a n00b question, but I can't seem to find videos of these games and I REALLY want to watch foxer vs Kyrix. Where can I watch them?
It's not like I just one day DECIDED to play Terran. I was born that way, and there isn't one thing I or anybody else can do about it.

You can watch game 1 on GOMtv without a season ticket. I don't think you can watch the other games without purchasing a ticket.

in the HopeTorture NEXGenius series I was quite confused after briefly glancing over the recaps as to why the protoss player chose HTs every game...then I read it through a little more thoroughly

I always love the titles of these things.

Side note: I think you forgot to give an overall rating to the series of Foxer v Kyrix and ITR v Genius (since there are overall star ratings for the other Ro8 series')

good read. thanks. I like Foxer's style, simple yet very strong, but I don't think he can deal with Nestea's strong macro and decision making. He is such a good player that never panics and have a very solid play.

I mean Foxer did penetrated FruitDealer gameplay, I am just not sure if he can manage that againts Nestea.

I am dying to see that match!
