TeamLiquid: Attack! Season 3 is about to kick off with TLAF-Liquid`Tyler schooling people left right and center. Of course, your hosts for this event are none other than Chill and EG.Incontrol! The show is set to kick off at 18:15 GMT (+00:00).
TL really needs to resolve the time zone issue with many international events sprouting. Maybe the OP can be changed so that the time will automatically convert to personal settings?
Besides that, nice! I am curious towards the casting by Chill and Incontrol. (Edit: I feel silly, noticing the time tag in the op now. was it there already? besides that, I am used to CET over CEST, guess I'll have to get used to that)
Lol i wasn't listening to stream I hear i was accused of hacking T_T
Sorry about the pauses, i was running utorrent, gotta upload to what.cd bros. First pause was because i forgot i changed my settings to lowest for nexus wars

I think they were joking... They were making a joke about 3v3 bgh, when someone pauses and then lags, its a hack. No one actually thinks you were hacking.
Tell Tyler that he should downgrade to skype 4.1, since the newest skype is fucking baaaad and cuts you out every now and then. Had the same problem and downgrading one version worked like a charm.
Thanks for the awesome commentary Chill & Incontrol. It was nice listening to you guys and it was fun watching Tyler play. You guys put on a great show. Until next time, GG
Well, it was definitely not as fun as the BW version. I wonder if it was because the opponents were pretty boring or because SC2 has less viable funky strategies. I guess you should invite TLO next and find out
great fucking show, as some previously mentioned its not quite as good as some of the older TLAs, but definitely a great start
Commentary for the last game was hilarious though Chill and Inc are entertaining commentators...i dislike HD and husky and day[9] because they just point out whats going on...i have fucking eyes for that purpose ^^
QFT, don't wanna hate on husky/hd too much, but i think its pretty apparent that they are like the preschool casters in the foreigner scene
It was average. i think the mic problem kind of killed the idea, chill and inc are hokay, but without nony speaking, it seemed like a every other stream

He said that he changed his ID to Tyler because people didn't pronounce his old ID Nony the way he liked ("Knew-nee" or something like that). Incontrol decided to troll him by mispronouncing his new ID.

Wait so it is ok to bash Artosis but not NonY? Half the point of the TL attack is to have fun and make fun of the player playing.
well, I think you need to differentiate
a) just read some artosis threads with the constant imbalance whining (try to find the "bad zerg maps" article, which btw afair was supposed to be continued by articles about "good zerg maps", which somehow never appeared) also, chill's story about the "media is the best foreign team" makes me think some bashing was well deserved
b) there's a difference between playfully poking fun at someone and just bluntly annoy the guest of the show until he refuses to talk anymore

ah i came in late. That is pretty funny i guess. NonY was such an awesome Id i miss it.
For example the handicaps, or the stupid strategies that the guest player must pull off should be determined beforehand and then suggested to the player if he cannot think of something on his own. Maybe he could be given say five strategies and he has to try to pull off each of them but in any order.
I also think that those may be not just strategies, but something like achievements. For example he must try to get 50 kills on a colossus, or he must kill the other player in 5 minutes, or he must not lose more than set amount of units, etc. and the task of the "victim" would be not to win the game but to prevent the guest from doing that.
I believe this would add more dynamic and help to avoid uninspired games where the guest kind of tries to do something funny but is afraid to lose and it ends up being neither here nor there.

Yeah for the longest time I thought it was nonn-ee. And that's still how I say it in my head :/

Wonderful, was a fun (though a bit short) watch and Incontrol is awesome as a caster, he sometimes reminded me of Bill Hicks, the way he said things and made his voice sound when doing impressions of others. TLA Euro with TLO next? :D
+ Great casting + Not alot of waiting between games (though I kinda miss the channels) + Great player, I can't remember the lineup of the old TLA's but I remember downright skipping some of them due to the guest being uninteresting to me.
- Very short, probably not fun to keep going for 3 hours but this was too short imo - The low amount of clowning, Nony was basically just kicking people's asses - More interaction! We've lost the chatchannels with the obscene challenges and retarded ID's so it became a little clinical, especially with Nony not in the mood to talk. Chill and Inc did a good job taunting the players and daring them to pull stupid shit but some more interaction would be awesome.
That's just my 0.02€, overall a great way to waste an hour since it was still fun.

I haven't got the chance to see it yet, but I remember Nony talked quite a bit in SCBW TL Attack, so that'd be pretty strange if it was true.
- The invited person needs to talk ALOT more, think of that chinese F91 bnet attack or whatever. The commentators have to harass him constantly with questions. Add silly stuff like you must scout 2 of the starting probes etc
can anybody tell me how do I watch this? I do not see any links anywhere.. I really want to see these games, but I have no idea where the stream is, or where the videos are, so help would be much appreciated.

Well keep in mind that the difference between pros and noobs was so gigantically larger in SC:BW than in SC2, so they needed the distraction / handicaps more.
I haven't watched it yet as I'm waiting on vods, however an interesting handy-cap for nony could have been playing by the book instead of using his tom-foolery.

With the way it was being streamed it was possible to see the opponets base the whole time, if there is a way so this wont happen next time it'd be cool

That was intentional...the casters are on Nony view only though, so thats why, for example, they didn't know where the proxy rax was in the last game. Plexa (or someone) is on all view, and the stream just follows the silent guy's view. I think its ok, since casters and nony know nothing, but we can kind of tell whats up
Only caught the last 4 games but it was awesome. Chill and iNcontroL were fucking hilarious, they made the games, which honestly weren't any more interesting than any other regular match for the most part, so worth watching!
I wish I was worse at SCII than I am so that I could join in on one of these. I feel like one of the reasons the games weren't as crazy(Mass archons/sentries) as everyone, myself included, had hoped was because the opponents were actually decent players(I heard at some point during the stream that there was only 2 players below diamond and one was plat???come on, where the noobs at??) and Nony actually had to try so that he wouldn't lose. Nony's mic malfunction was pretty disappointing also, from what I've seen he's a pretty funny guy too.
I was so excited to hear this will be a regular event. Every two weeks? YESSS, that would be so amazing.

No, I'm sure he'd rather talk than have to type during the game (which he did a lot of while his mic was down).
He's not the type of person that would do that anyway.
wow i loved the mass sentry so much that today i played a lot of games with many many senties
especially pvp, I would normally have 2-3 sentrys in my army, but actually the mroe sentrys the better, you can just put down like 7 forcefields and then another 5 plus the grav shield stacking looks funny
This was my first TL attack ever and it was funny. The casters did a great job in keeping everyone entertained. Another perfect example of how incontrol is probably the funniest sc2-player alive and how overall tl attack is just great fun. Got the impression(and after looking at previous ones) that it can be alot more fun especially when the one under attack isnt faking mic problems so will be looking forward to the next one. again awesome job from everyone and big up to the players who wasnt smurfing and still wanting to play against nony in this :D
+ Good Casting + A few fun/silly strategies (pure sentry!) + A smurf is always nice
- Too short! Too few games! I demand moooore! - Tyler never really got rolling, too few fun/silly strategies (probably as a result of the few games) - Not enough interaction (due to no mic, no chat channels, and probably the previous two points)
I think TL Attack you can bring in another commentator. It's not really about professionalism and having smooth back and forth discussion on strats, it's just a couple of people hanging out bagging on newbies and I think 3 would have more interaction. It'll be hard to coordinate and people might talk over each other, but again, it's not really a serious commentary, kinda like people hanging out in vent so I don't think adding another person would be as much a problem as in a serious commentary. (cept maybe for Chill, who has to add people into games)
Of course, I say this probably because Tyler's mic wasn't working so it felt a bit empty at times so maybe I just want 3 people total and it's perfectly fine as it is (won't know until next one I guess).
I used to watch TL attack for SC1, and was shocked when the poll said most people didn't know what it was. Watching it made my day, I agree with what chill said in TLOwnage, this is how starcraft should be played!
I think it'll be better if we don't have mic issues. I think we're going to give it another run with this format and a working guest mic, and then see how it plays. Next event will be on the Euro server.

I don't know, while the show holds a lot of potential, I didn't enjoy the first episode very much. Everything felt very clueless and disorganized, I mean, is it intended that not only the pro, but also the other players are able to hear the stream and they don't even have to scout, because they get all the information anyway?
Not sure why, but even the commentators were a bit weak. They had long breaks, repeated the same jokes over and over again and at one point I got too bored and stopped watching. I'm still interested in the show and I'll watch the next episode, but the first one just didn't do it for me.
First comment and TL attack for me,from what i've read it's pro vs noobs,i could be mistaken though...anywayz,i will definitely check the vidz later,TLO ownage was so fun, ,,fucking gay lagz''.

Yes, it is.
The whole idea is that the noobs have a huge advantage and still lose while everyone makes fun of them.

I didn't listen to the stream either - TBH I thought hearing Incontrol + Chill bashing on me would hurt me more than it would help me
Yea i heard they were bashing the hell out of me all game Looking forward to the vod
And at the end when Chill asked if it was my real id, i thought he was talking about the blizzard realid system and was asking if safuros was my real name or something. My response didn't make any sense iirc
I think it would have been better if there was a cool intro like the old TLAs, and there for sure needs to be more games, it was a shame many of the people who were supposed to play didn't show up.

Anyways I just want to apologize for taking so damn long. I came into this all gungho and not knowing what I was getting myself into as I've never done video editing to this scale, and now I'm learning from it. This has inspired me to learn this shit, though, so that when the next one rolls around and we need someone to record I'm actually reliable -_-.
Once again, I apologize for not getting this out a lot quicker and make sure you shift the blame to me, not TL. With that said, enjoy.
Thanks again, and happy to know next time can be even faster
hey great show you guys got going on here, however some advice for the camera man, when he switches to another spectator press escape key so it'll show what the spectator is selecting also!

I was really hoping someone was gonna be obnoxious with phoenixes vs nony. Glad you did it.
I felt as though tyler wasn't very entertaining, even when his mike was working and only the first build was wacky, but incontrol and chill did a great job, should go mass dts or something.
Maybe it's because I do not find SC2 nearly as palatable as its predecessor, but this show lacked the appeal of those from previous seasons. Nony's microphone problems were a huge detriment as well.
have we really succumbed to only uploading to youtube now? will there not be any real VODs to download? having to download in parts off youtube, in shit quality, was kind of excusable with sc1, but with sc2, it isnt anymore.
Despite the good casting crew and the awesome Tyler, this was my least favortite TL attack. It felt like it was just a casual event that didn't need much devotion. Mostly on Tylers side because he sounded bored, lacked interesing play, microphone problems, and it just felt that he didn't care at all for this awesome show. I love Chill's casting and Tyler is a SC beast but compared to the older TL attacks it just lacked the excitement, the hype, the mental blast. I cannot explain where this feeling of mine comes from, but when I looked at the old TL attacks, I laughed during the whole show and enjoyed every bit. Maybe it was just Tyler having a crappy day or something because the casters did everything to keep the show going. But still, I am glad that they announced more TL attacks to come in the future and maybe it will all be awesome again. Maybe it's time for newer players to be invited and not guests from the SC1 TL attack. I bet it would be more entertaining to talk to "newer" players and cast their games, like TLO, MorroW, etc.
We should get Day[9] in on one. Day[9] + Chill would be smex. Big thanks to Chill, Inc, and T(ee)ler for a fun show. Really looking forward to seeing the rest of them. Thanks TeamLiquid!

Worst TL attack ever, I mean seriously, all he did was standard openings into something a bit cheesy, the last 4 matches were awful, the smurf was just sad... Going for a full standard macro build...
I guess the game insn't mature enough for real cheese yet...
On August 09 2010 21:28 -Mew- wrote: I guess the game insn't mature enough for real cheese yet...
That was about the only thing you got right in your statement. The fact is that if Tyler tried to cheese every game in the beginning, he would've lost every game. The skill differential between players in SC2 isn't high enough for that, especially with the non-celeb player having the advantage of watching the stream. It would be pretty easy for the guy to just counter a cannon rush if he knows it's coming. Especially if they're looking for diamond players. I mean against gold or lower it would work.

Isn't the point of this to stomp noobs with cheese and have fun in the process?
I was having fun the first 2, then he stopped any attempts at cheese and went standard... that was boring, like watching a bored good player play decently vs normal players.
Also I'm disapointed in Jinro, standard macro? Thats not fun at all...
There no point to the show if we're going to play safe and standards now is there?
Nony is SO the man!! I really hope he is gonna make it big in SC2. TSL2 Champ and Courage runner up. He has the strongest winner mentality of the foreigners.
Games were more fun to watch vs. the lower league players. Of course games vs. plat or diamond leagures aren't going to be so fun to watch because they will have skill which requires a bit more of a standard opening.
Anyway, keep the next TL Attack to just silver / gold league maximum!!! <3 nony.
This was great. I love the casual humor. A nice break from the excitement injected tournament style casts everyone seems to be doing lately. All that's missing is Hotbid arguing with mani
Thought the games were made pretty entertaining by Chill/incontrol, but after a while it got a bit boring, probably because Nony's mic was never working.
Games themselves weren't too interesting, that's prob just SC2 though and certainly the skill gap in SC2 is a lot smaller than in SC1.

On August 10 2010 05:22 CruelZeratul wrote: So what is the right pronunciation of Nony? I don't get it, seems so easy.
Anybody who speaks English knows that you pronounce those four letters as "no knee," but Nony thinks it's "new knee" (and, given how he tried to spell it out in the game, he clearly thinks of it as "noony" or something like that, which of course would be pronounced "new knee").
Why weren't there any handicaps like having to build every building twice before using it or sth. else funny the player HAD to do or his win wouldn't count; that always added fun. Unfortunately this episode lacked a bit the entertainment of its predecessors Of course this is also due to the mic problem.
Chill still rulez tho <3
I suggest not only doing standard games but also some other funny stuff like a 2v2 guest star + AI vs. 2 Players or one funmap (of course mainly 1v1s). Also, there should be more than 1 smurf.

Even though the games were a bit bland, and nony had mic problems, I really enjoyed this ep.. incontrol is genuinely, ridiculously funny and Chill is just a consistently great caster. Please keep the team together! ^^
Long time lurker - first time poster Inc and Chill did an amazing job - i was watching the stream live and almost had to pee in my pants cos i didnt wanna risk missing any of their funsies xD So what if the games wernt as "creative" as in s. 1 and 2? Give it some time and we'll see all that jazz again no doubt once the gap between pro and casual gets bigger.
A few suggestions; I miss the IRC chat and the casters refering to it/using it whilst the show is on. Some sort of background music worked really well in the first 2 seasons so that would be nice to have again. We need a team melee in this season - if thats not possible some FFA madness (smurfs or newbs) or a ton of bronze players on 1 team against the star.
