Israel and Gaza are at it again, as are North and South Korea. We lost Gary Coleman, Rue McClanahan and John Wooden, and oil is still pumping into the Gulf at an alarming rate. But all of that pales in comparison to the worst news of all: beta is shutting down soon! Don't fret though, because TL will provide plenty of entertainment over the break. Until then, keep playing and enjoy this week's Round-up!

178 Asia vs Europe Starleague

Go on lads! Kick 'im in 'is bollocks!
Europe struck back against Asia this past week with a mighty blow! Strelok took down Eric 3-1, Nazgul put Check into the boards 3-1 and White-Ra wrestled an epic final game from Maka to win 3-2 in day one. Day two wasn't so strong as Nazgul fell to Gerrard 2-3 and TLO fell to the mighty Sen in a continuation of their battle from the previous playday. They would be avenged by HayprO though, who managed to take a thrilling series off of Maka, winning 3-2.
SC2CL Beta Clan Tournament
This massive tournament finished the first set of groups just in time, before beta shuts its doors for a relaxing bath before the big party. This barely narrows down the field however, with over 100 teams participating its sure to continue for quite some time.
Notable teams advancing include MYM, RoX, mousesports, mTw, Fnatic, root and our very own Team Liquid.
17173.com World Cup
With beta coming to a close, so are many of the multi-week events. The world cup of Starcraft is over, right as the soccer World Cup begins to heat up. A few matches have happened since we last updated you to the progress of this one, in the semi-finals Dimaga took down Check 4-3 and 과일장수 (SKS) overcame Prime.Maka 4-1.
The finals had Dimaga in another ZvZ, this time against 과일장수. This time the score ended 4-3 in 과일장수's favor. Maka won the third place match against Check 4-1. The replays are up on 17173.com. Click the link next to the little green button with downward facing white arrows, then click the link that says "17173电信" You can find detailed tournament info here and if you are interested in some of these Korean players you can check out this.
Kaspersky Cup
TheLittle one made finals of a major tournament once more, this time against the heavyweight Sen. The series went the full 7 games, with Sen just barely edging out TLO in a 4-3 victory. We have a nice Europe vs Asia rivarly beginning with continued matches like this.
Altitude Invitational

Maybe if we keep plugging, they'll sponsor more awesome tournaments!
We're not just all talk, sometimes we jump into the fray and have an event too. Tester, Idra, White-Ra, and TheLittleOne fought it out for control of the sky in this Altitude sponsored tournament. The two players in Korea met in the finals, and Tester took Idra down with a clean 3-0 sweep. White-Ra was able to usurp the third place crown from TLO. The VODs are up on our youtube channel.
Closing Beta Invitational
8 well known players through the beta gathered together in a summit designed to see who is king of the hill as the first leg of our beta journey comes to a close. White-Ra and TLO met in the finals yet again, and White-Ra was able to overpower him once more (though not without some disconnect drama). The VODs are available on the livestream channel.

Blizzard announced the winners of the Starcraft II Video Contest. There are winners from both EU and USA, but the concensus seems to agree that the EU did a better job here. JoshSuth's Like a Toss video didn't make it, but definitely check it out anyway.
If you're interested in how the SC2 ladder works, Excalibur_Z has a nice thread with an overview. It may not be exact, but it's probably pretty close.
Green Forest E-cafe is hosting a tournament for BW and SCII in SoCal on August 7th, and quite a few gamers have already signed up to get their piece of the nice prize money.
Keep adding tournament results to help out TLPD. We know you guys love to help, so take a look and see if you can.
It's Liquipedia's Birthday! If you haven't looked at their amazing work, you're really missing out.

Do you dream about this?
Are you the type of person who loves NonY? Is the only thing you love more than NonY a delicious pizza? Well if you live in or around San Antonio this thread is going to make your day.
In case you haven't seen it, White-Ra has his own site up, where you can check out videos and replays from the Ukranian toss master as well as keep up on all his latest news. It's the perfect place to get your dose of White-Ra whenever you need it.

This week we've teched all the way up to Patch 15! (and 16 technically) It appears that Diamond is no longer a placement league, and can only be reached via advancement, so get out there and earn it while the beta is still up! Which might not be too much longer:
Technically Patch 16, yeah. We decided it didn't need notes being that it just fixed one crash, and beta is coming down today anyway.
On that note, by the way, it looks like the servers should be up until sometime late tonight or possibly early tomorrow morning (PDT). Still no exact time decided on yet.

-Bashiok on the Beta end time and patch 16
Take a look at user D3xter's short history of Activision/Blizzard, and enlightening post on how we got to where we are today.
Blizzard did let us know that they have heard some of our complaints, including Husky's cat video, and will be responding to them in the near future. Here's to hoping they don't just try to explain to us why what they already have will work.
That concludes this issue of the Round-Up, thanks for reading! If you’ve got a tournament, stream, contest or other content you feel maybe of value to the Round-up, feel free pass it along. Until next week, Good Luck and Have Fun
