wooooooooooo thats awesome. can anyone link to source?
About a month longer than I thought. I guess it being a world wide release pushes it back some
the same day the korean war ended?
Ha, got beat.
No, I don't have anything about a beta end-date, although iirc there was something going around about a May end date when the Gamestop/EB keys started dropping like flies.
Other thread is here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=123264
Source is an Activision Blizzard press release, I have my email signed up to their mailing list for investors.
Mods can close the thread if they wish, we've already got one other thread and there's probably going to be a few more as people realise and rush in.
I wonder when this means the Beta will end?
Damn, I think that's when I start school again -__-;
So it's now official, I failed to graduate from uni before SC2, unless Blizzard keeps it's tradition of postponing (and I don't keep mine)
Can't wait too see how far Blizzard will push the release date.
I think this is the earliest release announcement I can remember... War3/D2/D2X exact dates weren't announced until the games went gold and it was like two weeks out.
In other news, this is one week after my MCAT and I'm free for the rest of the summer!
On May 04 2010 06:14 Jyvblamo wrote: *Released right before my exams start, awesome.
Released right on the start of second semester for me. Hopefully the work won't pile up for a week or so while I can work off 12 years of anticipation and pent-up excitement.
wow hope it doesn't get delayed at all
Wow so much for blizzard's earlier estimate which was the end of May. I wonder if they are planning on making some huge changes by then?
Beta ends 6/11. I think that graphic we talked about on Weapon of Choice is right. Hope I'm wrong.
holy crap, this is awesome! I guess im gonna preoder my copy now :3

Well this thread has more posts so it can stay open
if they have a release date they're probably going to be punctual. it's just usually when they say coming soon or something their definition of soon is half a year to a year so im expecting this to come out as scheduled.
Cancel all summer-activites, Starcraft 2 is ahead!

My thread wins, I guess!
Also, although at the time I thought that the news deserved all-caps, I'm reconsidering. Do you want to change the thread title?
Edit: You already did, lol.
I was hoping for late june.
I guess a preorder for my bday will have to do...

Er SC2 is coming in at the end of summer. You still have time.
wow later than i thought but i don't care, can't wait
I still don't believe it.
I've trained myself so hard not to believe any release date that Blizzard announces.
10 esport bucks says it gets delayed.
Wow, really? At the end of summer? Beta better not end till July 25.

Press release from activision blizzard says in stores the 27th. It's a bit odd but it seems to be their current plan.
Edit: nvm July 27th is a tuesday.

oh well so much for my prediction of december 22 2012.
so it has a date now, hmm interesting. I should start perparing. My school finishes like 1 week after the release. So RIGHT ABOUT TIME !!!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I'll be in Vietnam when this is coming out... looks like no collector's edition for me! Unless you can buy that online.

You're talking about the company who predicted the game's release around Fall 2008. Talk about being a bit off
i'm just glad its not the 32nd of july, yayay!
Intresting .. lets see what happens during beta until that time.
well its finally got a release date... im guessing it'll probly come out around September with all the potential push-backs.
I'm not the first to mention but no one else commented so I will, that it IS indeed kinda ironic it's the day the Korean War ended
End of Korean StarCraft reign? I know, probably not but.. anyway
man cant wait i just hope no idiot makes a post and RUINS the campaign be4 we even got to play it
Best birthday ever! Hitting 18 and SC2, my god nothing can surpass that.
game is buggy as shit atm. Id rather have buggy beta for a longer time until a GOOD game comes out.

I'm just glad this piece of news wasn't announced on April 1st.
Cool!
edit: first poster and poster above said everything else I was going to say.
Later than I expected, but happy to have a date finally
Marked as D-day in my agenda!

sorry but this is bs. do you know what site you are on? do you know what game TL played before sc2? Players have looked beyond bugs and have embraced them into their gameplay. There is no game breaking bug out there that would require a shipping delay. I think you are just being a pessimistic pseudo-troll for the sake of being the "cool non-conformist".
this one could be found as an approximate release date that you can find on future shop :|
Wow, It's being released on my birthday. How sexy.
How is the anticipation in korea for this game, I going there on the 27th..........,
ohh happy day! it's so much better to have a actual date to look forward too instead of just wondering when.

Can't you get it postponed if you are enrolled as a student? Course I know nothing about Norways military procedures
Ah I have a friend that likes to think he knows everything about ALL games, I tell him he doesn't follow Starcraft like I do so he shouldn't be assuming such dates having no source for his estimations. He said Sc2 is coming out April 2011, just felt like saying its gonna take a long time because he knows I LOVE Sc2. I told him that its possibly coming out July 27 or for sure this year so I hope it does. He still doesn't believe me
Great news. I'm glad that they are close enough to announce when the game will be going gold.
Expected, but the confirmation is still awesome!!! :D
Cool. It's released on my ex girlfriend's birthday. It will be a good day afterall :D
Cheers.

Just tell them you'll do the milltary stuff later.
hope i've finished my work the 27 of june. And some letters to explain to my irl friends why i cannot see them during this summer.
Damn. I was hoping for it to come out in June so I can get out of school and start working on that ass groove again, but at least I have a month to play it.
lol Kennigit was 10 days off!
Woot. Won't be perfect when it comes out though. Balancing and patching needed.
finally, all this time I thought it was going to be June, but a month later isn't too bad considering how long we've waited.
I think the slight imbalance that the game has when it comes out is part of the experience.
Example: SCBW is praised for being balanced now, but at this point the game is pretty much sterile. I mean, part of the whole SC experience was playing the game with 150 mineral spawning pools, 100 mineral turrets, the whole nine yards. SC2 is going to be like that too. I might actually use two computers to play the game, one patched, and the other left at 1.00.
On May 04 2010 08:01 wanderer wrote: lol Kennigit was 10 days off!
Can we get a new icon for kennigit?
just updated on blizzard's facebook page
I'll be 21 on the 15th. Looks like I'll only have time to drink for 12 days. Assuming I can pry myself off the beta for that long.
Also, does anyone have any insight on how Blizzard beta's typically work? Do they close them like way before the release or are we going to be playing until the official release?

WoW's price is $15 a month, is it not? So you paid the same cost for 4 months.

to get or not to get...that is the question...

Right now I am pondering getting a tattoo sc2 logo with July 27th,2010 so I never forget how glorious a day that day will be.

16 days after mine!
Will make a good present. Even though I've technically already bought it.
Finally!
...wait, no south america release? What?
So what would be a good estimate of the remaining Beta time? I'd say about one month or so?
I hope the beta lasts until June at least... no idea what I'll play without it
beta will most likely be open untill the game is released. Why not? Keep it fresh with beta testers, if you give me a game for free for say 3 months, then give me a month off... I am A LOT less interested in it since I already have so much time invested. But if there is no break, then I can keep with my addiction, rather then finding another.
Also, more free testing = a better release a better release = better reviews better reviews = more sales more sales = more word of mouth more word of mouth = more sales etc...

The beta should last until a few days before release, from what's happened in previous Blizzard betas...
Anyway, I'll be on vacation when the game is released!

The top priorities for release should be:
- Add chat channels - Enable online replays with friends - A stable bnet 2.0

Sick!!! I've had pre-order for almost2 years already
In the video at the bottom of the Gamespot article they have Dustin Browder say "The rush is a CORE part of the game." (probably not a new interview) with strong emphasis. Sadly I fear this will mean they intend to keep maps small like they are now and since Blizzard is in control of the maps on the ladder ... . Disappointing.
will there be an official TL chat channel??

my concern is the UMS, if an awesome UMS game is created in europe like DOTA, we would not only get the map later but itll be harder to play with the creaters and give them feedback

Same here haha. Getting back August 2 though, so I guess not so bad

Damn, why no Open beta yet 1 month before I go into army... and I do not have any way from ordering from gamestop/EB T_T
Should do it to test the maximum server loads so they don't crash on release day
can't believe there is an actual release date on the horizon
2 months before i get back to Sweden,
FML

Would be smarter for them to wait until Christmas

This feels so surreal after 3 years.

the new wow exp will be the christmas game

would be nice if they still delayed it with a month or 2 just so they can improve it
btw do you guys know if there is going to be any midnight launches at any of the stores? I might hold off on a preorder and just go pick it up then if thats the case. Best buy? Gamestop?
I guess that means the May 27 rumour is a bust. Well I just got my beta key, so I don't mind.

Does anyone know what the price is going to be?
dang i will be on a snows trip from the 30th jul - 1st august - at least il get a few days to play
Great news time to pre-order i suppose XD
EDIT: Anyone knows a good site to preorder?
nice news to come home to, also means that atleast 3-4 weeks are free for sunshine, drinking and festivals
Lets just hope they dont push it back
Sweet! Two days before my birthday, the perfect present! (Provided they stick to it) Woo!
I guess we can expect a september release then?
Amazing. I'm totally quitting life after that day.
The devs said the beta will end roughly a month before release, so 11/6 seems reasonable. I guess preordering makes sense only if i want the CE, the standard edition should be available as digital download anyway. I doubt it will be in stores here on release day, but i'll give it a shot and if it isn't, i'll just buy a digital download version.

This, really. Blizzard haven't been reliable of late when it comes to release dates so im guessing it will be a later release then stated.
Nice one, can't wait! I just hope they wont be postponing game more then few weeks - as Blizz always do! =)

Source? Having to wait for a whole month would be terrible.
WAY! Will play sc2 every minute after the release
Wow, awesome. Feels strange that the game will finally come out after all this time.
OMG
I start UNI like right after. GAY.
But otherwise. AWESOME.
Waiting the month and a half after the beta is going to be so goddamn painful though.
Me and many others still have the World Cup to save us. And coincidentally, it starts on 6/11.
releasing on my birthday, this is gonna be the best present ever :D
hmm, I didn't expect it to be released so soon. I though the beta would last at least through the summer and the game would come out on Christmas. I hope they'll fix all issues by then, or there'll be heavy first months patching..
damit, i only got my beta key 2 days ago. I bet the beta will be closed a whole month prior to release...
At least it's a worldwide release + Show Spoiler +Nintendo >

I'm so freaking pumped for this. I can't wait to play. I never got a BETA key so i'm really excited!

A date has been set for when my life will be changed from outdoors to indoors.

Battle.net is SOO buggy for me right now. Sometimes after a game my whispers aren't getting through to people. It says they are whispering, but I don't see the recent messages and can't type back.
Also, people having to relog because they can't join games has become very popular with the people I'm playing with. They say things like "it looked like I was in the lobby, but when I try to say something I get booted." The only way to fix this is like ninja starting the game as soon as some of the people with this problem join.
Also, I'm not laddering much, though I should be 11-4 in gold, but it has me as 9-5. One of my wins counted as a loss, and another win never went on my record either way. The points were added to my ladder total correctly (~1200) but the record is wrong.
I've reported all these bugs on the feedback forums- and with what I'm seeing on battlenet figured that release would be way off. As in close to a year way off. Seems rushed to me, in short.

HOLY SHIT, 1 day after i tell my gf i have less time for her sc2 releases?!?! sick!
One question to TL staff: When SC2 is out, will the player/profile icons be changed to SC2 units? Or is that when teamliquid2.net is released?
Blizzard will probably close down the Beta sometime the end of early to late June, and have maybe a month buffer between end of Beta and Retail to get the Beta players excited for Retail. Of course there is the other approach of perhaps they will run the Beta basically right up until launch, and leave maybe only two weeks to add more tweaks, though this is less likely of an option.
btw what are the hardware requirements of the game? does any1 who got the beta know that?
LoL.. Ahh, I remember these days.. Being in my Teens.. Waiting for the anticipated Brood Wars to FINALLY be released.. Checking infoceptor for the latest news.. Then it comes out.. Jizzed in my pants a little :D They will close beta before the game comes out.. They don't want Beta Testers to have to much of an upperhand on the rest of the regular population. All beta tests have ended about a month or 2 before the games release.. Happened in BW, happened in Warcraft 3, & TF.. So it will happen in this game.. Just be ready for it.. The game will come out, they will nerf what they thought was overpowered in the beta.. Then a couple of patches will fix the remaining bugs.. We've all been through this before, so sit back and enjoy the ride.. You feel like you can't wait for the game, but in reality.. You can.. All blizzard games have a very long lifespan.. I played Starcraft and BW from the time I was 14 up until my early 20's.. Not so much Warcraft 3.. But I played my fair-share.. So get out there and live what life you can before the release.. If you're anything like me, you'll be here every chance you get because of the high quality of games.. I'm gonna wait about 2 weeks before the game comes out before I take my vacation time at work, so I don't waste my vacation time on a game that got pushed back Enjoy amigo's.

lol Can't you get it postponed if you are enrolled as a student? Course I know nothing about Norways military procedures
Well... you can get your studies postponed.
It's different if you have actually started your studies, but most people going into the Norwegian military haven't.
There are other ways to escape military service, but if he has a date of enlistment, it's not so easy. The best way would be to act like an ass when you arrive, but frankly I hate people who do that. Man up and do your job, you can actually get something out of it.

damn 3 months before i can play single player

Not sure what to think. I really havnt made up my mind when it comes to this game yet. The fact that I havnt got a key makes it hard to make a proper evaluation of the game but Im really considering not buying the game just based on how blizzard handled that optin-in process.

omg omg omg omg time to pre-order mai copy >:D

Sweet few more months of Brood War!

already got it preordered haha

does this mean people with beta accounts are done playing now unless they buy the game?

I got to say this is a great news to worldwide SC2 fans... except China..
its pretty sad that everything come from overseas need assessment from certain division
and the certain division said Ghost in SC2 manifesto the superstition crap...
yes, certain division... even we chinese didn't know what the hell this CERTAIN DIVISION is
and it always come out from public news or announcement and that thing is always blocking game fans from other countries
like now WoW, we are still in TBC, EVE we are still 2 versions delayed than the eurp server.
yea, and talk about the pirated software, because most the time, we can't find place to buy a legal copy, even from Internet (most chinese bank won't give international credit card easily). fans like me really saved alot of money for buy a legal copy and there is no way to find it...
guys, sorry about these complains.. but this is just cry from buttom of my heart..

SC 2 is coming out on my 21st birthday. Is this a sign from God to stay home to game all day and not go get shit faced drunk with my buds?
I'm conflicted.
Will TL and/or Blizzard be giving out any more beta keys?
I am so excited to part of this community! I can almost feel the excitement from the forums alone. Too bad all the Gamestops when out of business in my city wtb beta key!

That really sucks man, but I am sure SC2 will be released in China eventually, there is no way that Blizzard will ignore the potential of enticing all the millions of nerdlings there.
On a side note, where can I get an English copy of SC2 in Taiwan, anyone know? rR will it most likely be in Traditional Chinese?
Very glad blizzard is wise enough to do a huge release when it won't negatively affect its players' educations =))
Seriously, why couldn't capcom have done something like this for super sf4 instead of releasing on people finals weeks >.<
Well im happy i guess, though i was hoping it would of been closer to winter
I still feel the game needs more tbh. If they are releasing it this soon, it means I am staring at a pretty finalized version of the game. Hmmm... slightly upsetting.
I am SOO thrilled for the single player. I don't know/read anything about it exept the official video sequences but that must have been at least a year ago or so. Go faster, stupid 2.5 months!!
Really excited and disapointed at the same time, I was hoping for another major patch but since they announced a release date it looks like they are finished and going into production.

I so hope that ll had stuff to the new battle.net, I dont want to believe the Q&A batches until the final game is out, because they can always change their minds (please Blizzard, allow cross continental play and channels, please pretty please)

anyone on how much longer the beta will last?

I'm hoping they delay it until the game feels more finished, right now there's just way too many bugs with bnet 2, hell you can't even exit the game properly at the moment.

My birthday is July 27. :O
It is also the day that Koreans signed the cease fire agreement.
