its a smart mafia strategy.....mayor is an extremely valuable position for a mafioso to hold

What do you expect?--be precise. That one mafioso will run for Mayor? Two? All of them? I agree with you that it's a smart strategy to have a Mafia candidate. It's not necessarily smart for the Mafia to have multiple candidates--in fact, I think that's a bad idea for a number of reasons. Townies will not have the same compunctions about multiple candidates. If a smaller fraction of the Mafia than of the townies runs for Mayor, then you've given us a reason not to vote for you.

Chuiu, the "you must vote" rule sounds promising, but what's gonna happen if you don't? You should make the consequences more clear. I think a 3 strikes rule would work best -- you can't miss more than three votes in a row or you're out of the game. If you just kill off people who miss a vote, or some number of votes over a period of time, you're unfairly punishing townies for having inactives.
