I don't think it was that mafia favored, it would have been a difficult and long struggle had things gone a bit wrong

Look at Foolishness spirit QT. He had enough points this cycle to buy 3 bulletproof vests + medic ability. He gave stuff to mafia N1 and N2 (no doubt because he was busy). Three shurikens hit town. The only reason you had two mislynches was due to everything going our way.

I think some kind of diminishing returns or well, the opposite of that I just don't know what it's called in english, would have been nice.
Something like "buying a role makes buying the same role again X more expensive during that very night it's used as well as Y more expensive permanently."

Something like that would have worked and perhaps some incentive for mafia spirit to give a townie items. Maybe bonus points or cheaper items when given to a townie.

Town spirit started with 6, I started with 4. We both gained 2 points every cycle. Items costs varied between 1 to 5. Read spirit QTs for more info. It appears that pushing the machine was town favored as it gave Foolishness 7 (?) points and me only 5.
