I find it a brilliant festival. I'm not sure what the traditional reason for it is (I should wikipedia it at some point), but I found the idea of taking a day off to eat turkey and watch football was something that aligned with my interests. It commemorates the gracious transfer of the ownership of the entirety of north america from the natives to the europeans.
From what I gathered based off of US public schooling is that some europeans moved from europe to USE and were dying, and at the same time the american nations were splintering due to plagues brought by the europeans and wars. Some sort of trade or peace treaty was worked out between the native americans and the europeans, and the native americans taught the europeans how to do agriculture and stuff. In the long run, the europeans got more people from home and ended up taking over america. Thanksgiving has had a very flexible meaning but at one point someone claimed it represented peace and harvest for the natives americans and the europeans together. Nowadays it means hanging out with family and watching football, which are the best possible reasons for a holiday.

Yeah luckily I made this account when SC2 came out in 2010 and didn't continue lurking like I did when I watched tons of BW.
