1. checking an inactive is a great check. It's the same reason why you vig an inactive. If you can't read people, having a way to read them/clear them is peachy keen.
2. You have to look at it from his perspective. Palmer hasn't done shit this game. His filter is useless. As of late, he's been useless a lot as scum. He's been playing Dota (scumtell). I'm town (scumtell). Like you may say that he's obvious town to a lot of people, but that's really not how VE works. Plus VE, like some other people, has been kept out of the loop on a lot of things. Like when you look at it from that perspective, it's in no way an unreasonable check despite what any of you or the "circle" thinks.

Palmar's argument to Oats possibly being town has some merit too it. Logically Oats is a great lynch, but something in my gut says some of things Oats is saying he actually believes to be true. Conveying conviction on a forum is hard to gauge, but Oats has been relentless in his posting. Regardless Oats is a detriment to town discussion because of this incessant posting and has ulterior motives to kill Saruman for his win-con(this part of his claim I believe to be true), so killing him will be good for town even if he isn't scum aligned.
This is a waiting game right now. We have a strong town (circle jerk) and just need to eliminate anyone who isn't in it. The one thing I am wary about is the lack of opposition. It seems after day 1/beginning of day 2 we have been set on a singular course and are just following through with it. Not much has been in the way of us running a train on mafia since that point. This isn't necessarily bad, but it speaks to at least 1 scum being in our circle jerk.

I'd be kind of interested in everyone who says "there is / there's probably a scum in the town circle" to specify WHO they think it might be, or who the circle even is.
Otherwise, those statements feel like they say very little / nothing, and are based on just the assumption that "in a group of x size, there will be scum," when we may have absolutely no idea who we're talking about.

suppose (which is very likely at this point) that one or two out of VE/oats/geript are scum. it's not like any of them have been taking the idea of getting lynched lying down. (except oats apparently now that we caught him in multiple explicit lies.)

Look at the timeline:
N1 Killed Keir RB'd Fool
N2 Killed Koshi RB'd Koshi
N3 Killed Dandelion RB Wave
First off this doesn't compute. Foolishness left a message to town for D2. That strongly indicates he wasn't RB'd before he died. Second, I've claimed an RB on JAT for N2; that means that either I'm lying, my action somehow failed, he is somehow immune, JAT got bus driven (which would likely also bus drive the item Oats claims to have used) or other shenannies. His simplest answer there is that I'm lying about the RB target for N2; he hasn't proposed that at all. Like if he's town with this information that is the clear next progression. On top of that, S&B has claimed on RB on JAT on N3 when I claimed to Arab Oats. On top of all that, if he has this information, why didn't he claim it in Thread on N3? Like that's shit that is super important for town to know because it hammers JAT as a liar and scum and in the least heavily implicates me as a liar and scum. Like none of Oats' story makes any fucking sense at all.
On top of being a proven liar, he's also flat out lied about his role to people (which while non-alignment indicative by itself IMO) isn't a point in his favor. Plus he fucking killed obvious town and my Wubbybumpkins.
