The reasoning is that you've done nothing in the very limited time you've been here and you've indicated you're not going to try harder. The reason Palmar isn't getting lynched for it is because he [according to marv] has a history of doing so and will actually start doing stuff later in the game. You have two choices; Look into austin/gumshoe/hidden mysterious candidate, or you can get ript™.
