He's cool. Drawing attention to yourself like that in the early-game with an intentionally terrible unjustified vote is probably not a scum move. Maybe for some other players, but not for Vayne.
Also, he seems to take a somewhat condescending attitude in all his games. Though he seems to pick fights for the sake of picking fights in his last mafia, while he's more productive with his arguments in town-games.

1) What qualities would you consider "ideal" mayoral qualities?
2) If you were to pick anyone in this town to run (regardless of if they want to run or not), who would you vote based on the thread so far?

Again I ask, why would discussion over the mayoral candidates be better than just straight up voting someone who you think is town? Do you think scum would try and get one person elected? If so, how do you think their platform will be run/conducted?
1st paragraph: I think you are placing far too much emphasis on activity. He has yet to say a single thing outside of vote for me. This is literally the best way for a scum to appear active without saying anything of value. I have yet to see a single good reason to vote Shiao.
2nd: because the mayor needs to be town. This is a huge decision for us and everyone is complacent just blindly voting him. It's concerning and I want to understand why.
3rd: I have no idea if scum would run/how they would run but if it were me as scum I would run similarly to how Shiao is so there are no points to hold against me with the inevitability of a mislynch if people follow the(scum) mayor.

I'm not complacent with blindly voting him, but that is because I don't see anyone here as qualified to be mayor except for me, hapa, and VA-- and until I have solid townreads on either of them the only trustworthy one of the lot is me.

See my answer to oats also but I want a mayor who has stances. Basically someone I'd call confirmed town/my strongest read.
Right now I'd go for you or myself for mayor currently. You're always well versed and I like the questions you've been asking. I'm a little concerned about all your town reads but I still feel you're town right now. Should be obvious why I'd do it myself.

I think the only person to actually vote shiao for mayor is Hapa, unless I missed something, so I don't really make anything of it.

Well jiamp sheeped it for some pretty shitty reasons and I assumed oats did considering he's been questioning why I haven't since I got in the thread. Oats also thought Shiao "looked the towniest so mayor is fine for him" Any thoughts on that? I just don't get what's so town about him.

Ebwop: shitty isn't the right word. I can understand his town read on hapa and thus sheeping hapa on it, but I'd much rather see something original out of him.

So are you running for mayor? Even if I thought you were town, you have a history of sub-optimal power-role play, so I would be hesitant voting you even if I thought you were town.
Also knowing Shaio's meta, do you really think he's capable of what he's doing as scum? Also, why is he not qualified to be mayor in your eyes?

As a last bit, the whole "I know I'm town therefore I'm the best candidate in my eyes" is a really stupid argument.
The best mayor is one who everyone trusts and not who you individually trust.

I really just don't feel like being mayor this game. If mayor could solo determine the D1 lynch, I'd be all over it, but the powers (enigmatic though they might be) just don't seem as "worth it" on me. A mayor who determines the D1 lynch is an ideal role for me since scum will shoot me early anyways-- a mayor who does not determine the D1 lynch but has some kind of other stuff going on like extra votes or whatever is good, and I can certainly use that power better than anyone else, but that only applies while I am alive.
I don't remember Shiao's meta. That being said he's put himself "out there" and although it's for silly reasons it makes more sense for a town player to do this than for a scum player to draw extra attention to himself. He's not qualified to be mayor because he's not you me or VA, I don't remember him making big plays. the only advantages to a guy like shiao being mayor is that it gives scum a harder decision of who to shoot at night. I mean also he's probably not scum so I prefer him over a rando, but there you have it.
If I can't see you or VA stepping to the role, I'm in for it, since my usual tactics work infinitely better with twice the votes to back them up, but without the D1 "pick the lynch" power it's just not as enticing.

remember that this is semi-closed setup so we dont even know if theres a medic or anything. Getting voted as mayor is pretty much a death sentence and I think BH sees it the same way I do. Don't want a fucking target on my back to start the game.

Setup-speculation wise, I'd imagine the mayor would have some sort of veteran or bodyguard mechanic. Else it would just be really poor game design and de-incentivize any vets from wanting to be elected.
