Shady is an intelligent guy. Poor play isn't something I'd use to write Shady off. I mean, he's not super awesome like me, but he's good enough to know that what he's doing is newb shit which means it has to be intentional. And while it's possible that he's being straight up with the whole "Oh you know, I wanted to martyr myself to the mod as an example", I tend to think that he's just trying get out of hot water before he's in it, so to speak...which is a scum trait.

I find nothing scummy about KJ's input on scumhunting in an inactivish environment. If that's all he's got, then we'll talk. As it stands though, that one singular post is better than the several who haven't posted at all.
That being said, the whole "seemed contrived/was contrived" nonsense does need clarification.

"...seemed contrived" is the same thing as "was contrived" in the context of analyzing behavior. If you're town, then if something "seems contrived" then that's suspicious because townies have no reason to fake it. Saying something that X said "seems contrived" means the same thing as "It looks to me like X is faking his reaction" - do you not understand how someone would get defensive about that? And then trying to paint it scummy (Y U DEFENSIVE) on top of that makes it seem like you're trying to set him up.
Ultimately, you're after meaningful contribution and you have provided none. There's stuff going on in the game worth commenting on, and presently you're not.
I'm willing to lynch into ShadySands, kingjames01 as it stands. We really need more content from everyone though.

About shady, I'm not seeing the scum motivation behind his troll show. It doesn't make any sense from a troll perspective and it does make sense from an annoyed townie perspective.
If you look at the trolling more closely you can see seeds of his plan within the all caps nonsense.
I read it as the actions of someone who was fed up with trolls and didn't really want to play this game
His absence supports this read.
No doubt the mod pmed him, a little slap on his wrist. But it would sting to someone with such a sense of self importance on this webisite. That's part of why he hasn't come back.

The scum motivation is that he feels trolling could buy him a free ride to the endgame because it has for people like grush/BM/YH/you (although I disagree with you being lumped in with those guys) in the past.

VE's post at the top of this page mostly covers my thoughts on both Shady and KJ. With kingjames, the general wishy washyness isn't *so* bad in general except for the fact that he just lumped those quotes in the thread in the first place. If you're not willing to uphold why you're doing so, it's just insidious suspicion placing.
With Shady, what I really really dislike is the bullshit after-the-fact explanation for his actions. It just reads as a lie trying to justify the dumb play in the first place. I've seen several instances of scum trying to justify shit after the fact... Kei, i think you were in that game with talis and his 'reads' plan where he was scum? On top of this is his absence from the thread afterwards. If you're seriously making a point about how trolling is bad (...) then at best it's completely hypocritcal to disappear without actually then providing any content.

@Kush I've been looking over your stance on Shady in the early game and it was all over the place. Culminating in this which mirrors what you initially said. Here is my chain on your changing reasons for voting shady:
Policy/called you a troll==> called you a troll/mean ==> scum ==> he is spamming ==> policy.
What ai can draw is that you initially disliked his content for being spammy but voted for him mostly because he called you a troll (which in reality you are known for). At some point you mentioned scum read, but you say that was a mistake. Why didn't you just stick with a policy on Shady as opposed to putting a bunch of reasons that you didn't really believe i the first place?

Bleh, misclick. EBWOP: Yes, I realize that his behavior is actually accomplishing his goal, at least with me. I will say I have a hard time deciding when super-scummy play is actually scummy or just bad town play (hint: look at my IRC logs with marv in the post-game of Dwarf Fortress).
And yea, I was in Not Themed, where talis proposed his "Make a case on 3 people day1" plan. But I didn't think that was "too scummy to be scum", I just thought it was a bad plan. The fact that he proposed the same plan in multiple games of either alignment reaffirmed that to me. And in the end, I was wrong about him being scum.
Maybe I'm just bad :o

Catching up now. DrH I really needed a bit more warning this was starting, -_- I work primarily mornings and did not realize my plans tonight would get in the way of this game.

Shady Sands seems to be similar in popularity to the Mattchew lynch from last game (mafia LVII)
However I see a major difference like no major scumslip. Also given that near everyone seems content on him being a choice (although no real major voting), I am not inclined to lynch him until he posts more to get a better read.
I would however like to see more from (surprise) Mattchew at this moment.
Given his ballsy play last game, and the fact that my experience with him is that he is slightly more confident a player, I am not very impressed with his current play this game. It feels too underwhelming from my experience with him. If I am wrong I do apologize on this, but he has only really justified the behaviour of Shady, and asked people for their opinions.
Not a lot to go on, and very non commital.
I would like to see more posting from both these players, as well as seeing a more from sloosh and marvel so I can solidify a read on them.
