however more pressing is what went on behind the scenes. A few players were likely involved in some really shady stuff. I'm not going to point fingers or name names since nothing can be established concretely, but based on the evidence it's pretty apparent that the integrity of the game was likely compromised. | ||

Regarding Talis, was he not dead when he found scum QT? Or am I thinking bad? *High five* Talis for being wrong about each other btw! Was quite unsure of Jingle in the end. His town meta is too get mad at everyone and everything when he gets accused of something. But on the other hand he really should've understood that by now, something that he obviously did. Marv you are such a beast ^^. | ||

We're assuming he didn't understand how masons work, or something, but I don't think he's said anything about that yet. That did end up confirming toad I guess, but it also got Talismania lynched/shot/whatever since he was a miller. I don't think it had that much of a giant effect on the game, but we should definitely talk about it and I wish xsebt would post about it. There's the issue of Talismania finding the scum QT, but given that (a) there was just a thread about QTs being googleable, and (b) he only found it after he died, I don't think that was a problem. I mean, if he was using that to get info about scum, would he really have posted in it? Another thing - the model OP puts the burden of keeping scum communication secret on the scum team. It specifically says that other players may be more tech savvy than you are and may infiltrate your communications. So even if Talismania did find the scum QT and get info that influenced the game, I don't think we can regard that as "cheating." It's specifically allowed for in the rules. I for one know that I won't be using any gooleable QTs as scum in the future, if I ever roll scum. (I mean, if it weren't for the shitshow this game became I would be a little unhappy about the imbalance between mafia getting to choose who gets their PRs, while town's PRs all went to random newbies and most of our best townies were millers. I mean wbg, sloosh and talismania all millers? What was the thought process there?) As for the question of "the integrity of the game." I don't really know what's being referred to by wbg in that post, if it's not the xsebt PM or the scum QT finding. If there's something other than that, it should be put out in the open imo instead of just "some players were involved in cheating" being the statement. Looking at how the scum team died:

I'm not accusing anyone of anything because it's impossible to prove such an accusation. In addition it is partly the fault of the mafia team, but ultimately the point of the game is completely lost if it's possible to simply find the QT and just solve the game immediately. That's why I think it's certainly possible the integrity of the game was lost. If it's even close to being likely that such a thing occurred, then how do we know the game was played by everyone honorably? We don't. There is nothing in the rules explicitly against finding a mafia QT and then using it for your advantage. In fact that's not the biggest problem. There are bigger issues with the way PMs were handled in this game. If you've made a legitimate mistake in PMing someone that's fine, but intentionally doing it (and for the purpose of giving someone information, with that recipient not being able to receive said information otherwise) is simply cheating. It wouldn't be allowed in a non-PM game so just because this one has mason mechanics doesn't mean that it's excusable. | ||

I don't know if there was cheating involved to be honest. Besides the Xsebt thing of course, which turned out to be red check on a miller FML. As s&b said VE, Zeph and Hassy got killed in a normal way. The only reason Hassy survived so long was because people thought he's risking getting modkilled, which isn't exactly a mafiatrait. Jingle on the other hand wasn't much of a topic until recently, so that may have looked weird. I know Eran considered him to be mafia ever since n1 or d1 but other than that not a lot of people (s&b actually as well I think) but noone said it openly in the thread. I'd actually say there was no cheating involved but I obviously can't know. Also I'm kind of trusting that people are not abusing these kind of things to begin with. I know Talis likes to play it way more techy than the rest of us but even he only did it after he got killed. I doubt the rest even considered it a possibility. I didn't know QT's a google-searchable until I saw that PM. Maybe I'm just naive though. Other than that. Sorry for not playing that good  I somehow manage to always decide on the wrong ones in BCs game... It's not even funny. If you check the logs with eran I basicly tell him it's WBG + Prplhz or VE + one of the two if one flips green and Zeph + Talis + Hassy, which turned out to be 50/50 correct at least but I obviously lynched into the 3 townies first 8( | ||

None of the QTs for my Newbie game are searchable... when I set them up I didn't have to choose anything for that to be the case either. After Newbie XXIII I searched through all QT's settings when I was setting them up, and I couldn't even find a way to make them NOT-hidden (although i may just be blind). I also still don't know how the Xsebt thing was allowed to slide right to the end of the game, that's really weird to me. It's a shame the game had these things :/ | ||

That has nothing to do with what we're doing here. No matter if it's a QT, an irc-channel that some people forgot to make invite-only or whatever else, those things happen and I haven't heard of anyone actually finding the mafia hide-out although it would have been possible. Trying to find holes like this on purpose just sucks. Pretty sure one of my most recent games I played had a rule like that included as well. | ||

Someone pointed it out once... everybody that suspects Jingle ends up dead. Well, until Marv, who I wanted to shoot, but I figured if there was one thing potentially worse than a case against me, it would be if a confirmed townie took over doing it, and we had two of those after the detectives had to die. | ||

Although tbh I don't think marvellosity was doing that very effectively - imo it was the scumslip that bke found that sealed the deal, up until that point I would've lynched marv first over you had I been alive. | ||
