Didn't catch on to forumite until far too late though. I was too blinded by that whole prplhz thing.

If you read the Scum QT I drop a lot of gems about manipulating situations in there. A few times I said even if I get lynched we'll set Forumite up to look good for endgame or prphlz to look bad.
But people don't realize that there was so much subtle manipulation going on and think we just slept our way to victory.

had snarfs shot ace and had radfield not checked ace the game could've gone very differently.
In all though I think Radfield was most impressive given how little time he had to devote and the fact that he did one of the hardest things you can ever do in a game of mafia: he had to ignore his green check on Ace to call him scum. Not many players are capable of doing that.
|
Heh, Radfield made this game fun! I actually think this was one of the best games vs Town I've played in a long time. My only complaint is I wish they responded to some of my posts in depth but w/e. No one in this game aside from Zentor did multiple "holy shit that's bad" Town plays.
Good work imo.

It´s so much more tense playing anti-town than town. It feels like you are at LYLO the whole game, and one mistake will make you lose. It was a good thing Ace was so calm about it. BL accusing me of being scum, Ace tells me to ignore him. S&B identify the remaining scum, nah, don´t worry, let´s just shoot him.

I'll have postgame analysis soon;
any questions/concerns about balance are welcome! I really want to hear what you guys have to say about potential setup balance as I am still making changes and this will continue as I run more games. If this game had a mafia roleblocker + town jailor in the setup there were a couple things I was concerned about. Notably I realized after the game began (since I had RNGed the setup before making the follow-the-cop changes) that since the mafia had no roleblocker, they were afraid of jailor claims because they couldn't reliably CC them.
Another thing I'm considering is removing all notifications; no one is notified of the success of any action or the act of being roleblocked (except DTs and potentially vigis; depending on whether I consider taking away a shot when a vigi tries to shoot but is roleblocked or not, basically)
e: this version had no informed miller but I'm considering putting it back. It's the substitute for innocent child essentially (the miller is told that he is a miller)

Nice, the MafiaQT actually made me think Mafia deserved to win this (rather than merely town deserving to lose this, haha...). Ace was useless in the thread but very calm and logical in MafiaQT. I still think you could have played less suspicious-looking, but oh well, it worked, so...
|
saying someone is "suspicious-looking" is a pretty vague notion. Unfortunately Radfield didn't have the clout to push an Ace lynch, and people were too dumb to listen to him posthumously, but the game is as much about convincing people that your target is scum as it is about being convinced yourself that the target is scum.
In a position where only one person seriously thinks I am scum, I generally would just do what Ace did this game; I would blow them off and leave them alive, as if they weren't ever a threat to me to begin with. I am only scared of guns and townies who can convince the sheep to follow them as mafia. The former is pretty hard to deal with and the latter is workable. Everything else is arguable.
I am sure that if votes began gathering for an Ace lynch he would have adjusted his playstyle accordingly. I really doubt that such a lynch would have succeeded because even the players who suspected Ace had very shaky mindsets and were not very confident in themselves. With that type of attitude it's hard to lynch even the worst of scum.
e: and bluelightz deserves a mention for calling Ace scum as well; he improved his play quite a bit.
of course he had some issues later down the road with keeping that read (and pushing it) but definitely one of the best showings from him I've seen.

If I'm suspicious for 3 straight days, and one of the top people pushing my Scum lynch (Bluelightz) eventually turns around and says I'm Town - I don't know how that is useless
|
There's one thing I keep wondering about my town play and it's how little I post. Idk, most time I hate posting useless things and don't have confidence to push my weaker reads.

Really poor by town to self vote at mylo, that's not playing to win and poor sportsmanship imo.

Yeah I think I did quite good considering my reads d1 and I'm really looking forward to wbg's analysis.
People really need to grow some balls and start lynching people eventually. A mislynch d1 really isn't the end of the world and I still feel like the NL was way worse for town because all the new guys were hanging in the air not knowing what to do and prpl didn't exactly help either with second guessing everything.
It's a mayority lynch, you can't have half the town be stubborn and push their own #1 read instead of focusing on the guy that is really scummy just because they think their #1 read is better as the read someone like Sandroba did, especially not if the rest of town is chickening out and isn't even willing to lynch.

Thanks wbg and johnny for hosting.
I had a fun game and learned a bunch again . Looking forward to the next one already!
I really should have shot Ace, but what made me change my mind was this thought: "I don't want to be the guy who shot the town with the DT check on him". I was weighing that with the odds of being the guy who shot the godfather who had the green check on him, but I thought VE was a safer bet anyways so went with it.
I really should have rethought prplhz more because before the end of day 3 I wasn't really finding him suspicious at all.
But, like I said, learned a ton. Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone! prplhz was 100% town, he just thought I was town too. i don't know why i think you were town, i was in a very similar situation in NMMI where there was some townie getting on my nerves and some scum semi-buddying up to me and i knew this could be kind of the same and i was very aware of this. i just didn't think there was anything scummy about you, i think your zentor push looked townie and you didn't just sheep me on every decision (strongandbig).
but i was very aware straight from day1 of how this could be a repeat of NMMI where a towny was stomping all over my nerves and a scum was buddying up to me ... and it was lol

Oh well , at least I played better :p.
Good play ace, good play :p
Did I play better?

I don't understand why you guys care about who is a "vet". It really doesn't matter all that much. I didn't even know VE and Forumite were considered vets.

I'd say you did. You were up for a NK choice or in the discussion multiple times. That's a pretty good sign.

I only changed thoughts because of Radfields green check ![](/mirror/smilies/steam.gif)
lol, I want Probulous's opinion on my play

Barundar so pro in figuring out how I'd prefer to choose my NKs based on finger pointing before it happened.
